مَا الْاِسْتِفْهَامِ

A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – مَا الْاِسْتِفْهَامِ is a noun
A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative, genitive or fixed
مَا is used as an interrogative particle when placed before a demonstrative pronoun, a verb or dha/ ذَا
when placed before a noun, it means indetermination (the state of being uncertain or undecided)
When used as interrogative after a prefixed preposition the alif is generally omitted thus بِمَ bima for بِمَا and عَمَّ for عَن مَا and مِمَّا for مِن مَا

Verse
They said “Call upon your Lord for us that He may make clear to us what it is”قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا هِيَ
He said “Truly He, He says it is certainly a cow not too old nor youngقَالَ إِنَّهُ يَقُوْلُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ ا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ
2-68but between that so do what you are commandedعَوَانٌ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ فَافْعَلُوْا مَا تُؤْمَرُوْنَ
They said, “Call upon your Lord for us to make clear to us what is its color?”قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا لَوْنُهَا
He said “Truly He, He says it is certainly a yellow cowقَالَ إِنَّهُ يَقُوْلُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ صَفْرَآءُ
2-69bright in its color, pleasing the ones who behold”فَاقِعٌ لَّوْنُهَا تَسُرُّ النَّاظِرِيْنَ
They said “Call upon your Lord for us to make clear to us what it is?قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا هِيَ
2-70Surely to us all cows are alike and surely if Allah wills, we will be ones who are guidedإِنَّ البَقَرَتَشَابَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِنْ شَآءَ اللهُ لَمُهْتَدُوْنَ

82-18Again, what will make you know what the day of judgement is?ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّيْنِ
83-8and what will make you know what is Sijjinوَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّيْنٌ
83-19and what will make you know what is Illiyun?وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّوْنَ
84-20so, what is with them that they do not believeفَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ
86-2and what will make you understand what the night star is?وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ
90-12and what will make you know the path that is steep?وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا العَقَبَةُ
95-7So, what makes you deny the final judgement?فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّيْنِ
97-2And what will make you know what the night of Qadr is?وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ
99-3and man will say “What is the matter with her?وَقَالَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا لَهَا
101-2What is Al-Qaariyah?مَا الْقَارِعَةُ
101-3And what will make you know what is Al-Qaariyah?وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ
101-10And what will make you know what it is?وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ
104-5And what will inform you what Hutamat is?وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
