| and if We wished We certainly could have raised him with these | وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا |
| but he adhered to the earth and he followed his desires | وَلَاكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ |
| so, his example is like the example of the dog | فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الكَلْبِ |
| if you burden it, he lolls out his tongue or if you leave it, he lolls out his tongue | إِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ |
| that is the example of the people who denied Our signs | ذّلِكَ مَثَلُ القَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوا بِئَايَاتِنَا |
| 7-176 | so narrate the story so that they may ponder (reflect) | فَاقْصُصِ القَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَقَّرُوْنَ |
| O you who believe! what is with you that when it is said to you | يَآ أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا مَا لَكُمْ إِذَا قِيْلَ لَكُمُ |
| go forth in the way of Allah (SWT) you cling heavily to the earth? | انْفِرُوا فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ اثَّاقَلْتُمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ |
| Are you pleased with the life of the world than the hereafter? | أَرَضِيْتُمْ بِالحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا مِنَ الآخِرَةِ |
| 9-38 | but what is the enjoyment of the world life to the hereafter except a little | فَمَا مَتَاعُ الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فِيْ الآخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيْلٌ |
