أَبَدًا

A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – أَبَدًا is a noun

A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive

أَبَدٌ is the natural state of this indefinite noun and it changes to أَبَدًا due to it being the: 1) المَفْعُوْلُ بِهِ object of a verb or 2) اسْمُ of إِنَّ or 3) خَبَرُ of كَانَ or 4) المَفْعُوْلُ فِيْهِ adverb of time or place or 5) المَفْعُوْلُ لَهُ noun that gives the reason for doing a thing or 6) المَفْعُوْلُ مَعَهُ noun that comes after the و which means “along with” or 7) المَفْعُوْلُ المُطْلَقُ is the مَصْدَرٌ of the verb occurring in the sentence or 8) الحَالُ adverb of manner or 9) التَّمْيِيْزُ noun that specifies the meaning of a vague word or 10) المُسْتَثْنَى noun that comes after إِلَّا meaning “except” or 11) المُنَادَى noun of calling or 12) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

For a long time

To last, settle, abide in a place. The combination of letters Alif Ba, Dal أ ب د means a long time without any break, perpetuity. The word is also used to stress and emphasize for the future, as the word Qad قَدْ is used to stress for the past

Surah/Below are the 28 verses in the holy Quran containing the adverb of time, the nounأَبَدًا
Verse
But they will not long for it ever, because of what their hands have sent forthوَلَنْ يَتَمَنَّوْهُ أَبَدًا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيْهِمْ
2-95and Allah is Al-Aware of the wrong-doersوَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ بِالظَّالِمِيْنَ
and those who believe and do good deeds We will admit them into gardensوَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ
flowing from underneath them rivers, they will live in it foreverتَجْرِي مِنْ تحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا
4-57for them in it, pure spouses and We will admit them to shade, shadingلَهُمْ فِيْهَآ أَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَنُدْخِلُهُمْ ظِلًّا ظَلِيْلًا
and those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will admit them into gardensوَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ
rivers flowing from under it, they will abide in it foreverتَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا أَبَدًا
4-122the promise of Allah (SWT) is truth and who is truer than Allah (SWT) in word?وَعْدَ اللهِ حَقًّا وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللهِ قِيْلًا
except a path to Hell, abiding in it foreverإِلَّا طَرِيْقَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا
4-169and that is for Allah (SWT) easyوَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللهِ يَسِيْرًا
They said, “O Moosa (AS) truly we won’t enter it ever as long as they are in itقَالُوا يَا مُوْسَى إِنَّا لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا أَبَدًا مَّا دَامُوا فِيْهَا
5-24so go you and your Lord and you both fight truly we are here sitting”فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَآ إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُوْنَ
Allah (SWT) will say, “This is the day the truthful will profit from their truthfulnessقَالَ اللهُ هَذَا يَوْمُ يَنْفَعُ الصَّادِقِيْنَ صِدْقُهُمْ
for them are gardens under which rivers flow, they shall abide therein foreverهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
Allah (SWT) is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Himرَّضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوْا عَنْهُ
5-119that is the great success”ذَلِكَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ
9-22they will abide in it forever, surely, Allah (SWT), with Him is a great rewardخَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا إِنَّ اللهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيْمٌ
so, if Allah (SWT) returns you to a group among them and they seek permission from you to let them go outفَإِن رَّجَعَكَ اللهُ إِلَى طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسْتَئْذَنُوْكَ لِلْخُرُوْجِ
then say, “you will not come out with me ever and not will you fight with me an enemyفَقُل لَّنْ تَخْرُجُوا مَعِيَ أَبَدًا وَلَن تُقَاتِلُوا مَعَيَ عَدُوًّا
9-83surely, you were pleased with sitting the first time so sit with those who stay behind”إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيْتُمْ بِالقُعُوْدِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ فَاقْعُدُوا مَعَ الخَالِفِيْنَ
and do not pray on anyone among them that dies ever and do not stand by his graveوَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ
9-84truly they disbelieved in Allah (SWT) and His Messenger and they died while they were defiantly disobedientإِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ فَاسِقُوْنَ
The first forerunners from the emigrants and the helpers and those who followed them in righteousnessوَالسَّابِقُوْنَ الأَوَّلُوْنَ مِنَ المُهَاجِرِيْنَ وَالأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ
Allah (SWT) is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Himرَّضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ
and He has prepared for them gardens flowing underneath it, rivers, abiding therein foreverوَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا
9-100that is the great successذَلِكَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ
Don’t stand in it ever, certainly a place of worship founded on the righteousness from the first dayلَا تَقُمْ فِيْهِ أَبَدًا لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ
is more worthy that you stand in it, within it are men who love to purify themselvesأَحَقُّ أَنْ تَقُوْمَ فِيْهِ فِيْهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّوْنَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا
9-108and Allah (SWT) loves the ones who purify themselvesوَاللهُ يُحِبُّ المُطَّهِّرِيْنَ

Their reward is with their Lord, eternal gardens, underneath which rivers flow, they will abide therein foreverجَزَاؤُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا أَبَدًا
98-8Allah SWT pleased with them and they with Him, that is for who feared his Lordرَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوْا عَنْهُ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ
