أُمِرُوْا
A word in the Arabic language will either be: 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – أُمِرُوْا is a verb
A verb will either be: 1) past tense or 2) present or future tense or 3) a command or request verb, also called an imperative – أُمِرُوْا is a past tense verb
A past tense verb may either be in the: 1) active voice or 2) passive voice – أُمِرُوْا is in the passive voice
They were given command

| Did you not see to those who claim that they believe in what was revealed to you | أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِيْنَ يَزْعُمُوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوا بِمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ | |
| and what was revealed from before you? They wish to go for judgement to false deities | وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ يُرِيْدُوْنَ أَنْ يَتَحَاكَمُوا إِلَى الطَّاغُوْتِ | |
| and surely, they were ordered to disbelieve (reject) in it | وَقَدْ أُمِرُوا أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِهِ | |
| 4-60 | and Satan wishes to mislead them a distant misleading | وَيُرِيْدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُضِلَّهُمْ ضَلَالًا بَعِيْدًا |
| They have taken their rabbis and their monks as their Lords from other than Allah (SWT) | اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَانَهُمْ أَرْبَابًا مِّنْ دُوْنِ اللهِ | |
| and the Messiah, son of Maryam and not were they commanded but to worship One God | وَالمَسِيْحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا إِلَاهًا وَاحِدًا | |
| 9-31 | there is no God except Him, Glory be to Him over what they associate | لَّا إِلَاهَ إِلَّا هُوَ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ |
| And not were they commanded except to worship Allah (SWT) being sincere to Him, the upright religion | وَمَآ أُمِرُوْا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوْا اللهَ مُخْلِصِيْنَ لَهُ الدِّيْنَ حُنَفَآءَ | |
| 98-5 | and to establish the prayer and to give the charity (obligatory tax) and that is the correct religion | وَيُقِيْمُوْا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوْا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَلِكَ دِيْنُ القَيِّمَةِ |
