لَيْسَ

A word in the Arabic language will either be: 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – لَيْسَ is a verb

A verb will either be: 1) past tense or 2) present or future tense or 3) a command or request verb, also called an imperative – قَالَ is a past tense verb

لَيْسَ is an indeclinable negative verb which governs the attribute in the accusative.

Surah/The indeclinable negative verb لَيْسَ occurs 71 times in the holy Quranلَيْسَ
Verse
Piety is not that you turn your faces towards east and westلَيْسَ البِرَّ أَنْ تُوَلُّوْا وُجُوْهَكُمْ قِبَلَ المَشْرِقِ وَالمَغْرِبِ
But piety is one who believes in Allah (SWT) and the Last Day and the Angelsوَلَاكِنَّ البِرَّ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَالمَلَآئِكَةِ
and the Book and the Prophets and gives his wealth in spite of his love of itوَالكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيِّنَ وَءَاتِي المَالَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ
to his relatives and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarerذَوِى القُرْبَى وَاليَتَامَى وَالمَسَاكِيْنَ وَابْنَ السَّبِيْلِ
and to one’s who asks and in freeing the necks and who establish the prayer and give the taxوَالسَّآئِلِيْنَ وَفِى الرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَءَاتَى الزَّكَاةَ
and who fulfil their covenant when they make itوَالمُوْفُوْنَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ إِذَا عَاهَدُوْا
and the ones who are patient in suffering and hardship and times of stressوَالصَّابِرِيْنَ فِي البَأْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ وَحِيْنَ البَأْسِ
2-177Those are who are true and those, they are Piousأُوْلَآئِكَ الَّذِيْنَ صَدَقُوْا وَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ المُتَّقُوْنَ
They ask you about the new moons, say these are indicators of periods for the peopleيَسْئَلُوْنَكَ عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاقِيْتُ لِلنَّاسِ
and the pilgrimage and it is not piety to enter the houses from the backوَالحَجِّ وَلَيْسَ البِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوْا البُيُوْتَ مِنْ ظُهُوْرِهَا
but piety is who is God-Conscious (mindful of Allah SWT) so, enter the houses through their proper doorsوَلَاكِنَّ البِرَّ مَنِ اتَّقَى وَأْتُوْا البُيُوْتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا
2-189and be mindful of Allah (SWT) so that you may be successfulوَاتَّقٌوْا اللهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ
There is no sin on you that you seek the bounty from your Lordلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ
so, when you depart from Arafat remember Allah (SWT) near the sacred monument (Muzdalifah)فَإِذَآ أَفَضْتُمْ مِّنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ عِنْدَ المَشْعَرِ الحَرَامِ
2-198and remember Him as He has guided you seeing that you were before of those who were astrayوَاذْكُرُوهُ كَمَا هَدَاكُمْ وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ مِّنْ قَبْلِهِ لَمِنَ الضَّآلِّيْنَ
then when Talut set out with the forces he said, “indeed, Allah (SWT) will test you with a riverفَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوْتُ بِالجُنُوْدِ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ مُبْتَلِيْكُمْ بِنَهَرٍ
so, whoever drinks from it then he is not from me and whoever does not feed on it then indeed, he is from meفَمَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَمَن لَّمْ يَطْعَمْهُ فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي
except who scoups a scoup by his hand” then they drank from it except a few among themإِلَّا مَنِ اغْتَرَفَ غُرْفَةً بِيَدِهِ فَشَرِبُوا مِنْهُ إِلَّا قَلِيْلًا مِّنْهُمْ
then when he crossed it he and those who believed with himفَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُ هُوَ وَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا مَعَهُ
they said, “no strength for us today against Talut and his troops”قَالُوا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا اليَوْمَ بِجَالُوْتَ وَجُنُوْدِهِ
those who thought that they would meet Allah (SWT) said,”how many from a small party overcameقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ يَظُنُّوْنَ أَنَّهُم مُّلَاقُوا اللهِ كَم مِّنْ فِئَةٍ قَلِيْلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ
2-249a huge party by the permission of Allah (SWT) and Allah (SWT) is with the patient ones”فِئَةً كَثِيْرَةً بِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَاللهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِيْنَ
