الْعَذَابَ
A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – الْعَذَابَ is a noun
A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive
العَذَابُ is the natural state of this indefinite noun and it becomes العَذَابَ due to it being the: 1) المَفْعُوْلُ بِهِ object of a verb or 2) اسْمُ of إِنَّ or 3) خَبَرُ of كَانَ or 4) المَفْعُوْلُ فِيْهِ adverb of time or place or 5) المَفْعُوْلُ لَهُ noun that gives the reason for doing a thing or 6) المَفْعُوْلُ مَعَهُ noun that comes after the و which means “along with” or 7) المَفْعُوْلُ المُطْلَقُ is the مَصْدَرٌ of the verb occurring in the sentence or 8) الحَالُ adverb of manner or 9) التَّمْيِيْزُ noun that specifies the meaning of a vague word or 10) المُسْتَثْنَى noun that comes after إِلَّا meaning “except” or 11) المُنَادَى noun of calling or 12) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

| And of mankind are some who take from other than Allah (SWT) as equals | وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَّتَخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللهِ أَنْدَادًا | |
| loving them as they love Allah (SWT) | يُحِبُّوْنَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللهِ | |
| but those that believe are stronger in their love for Allah (SWT) | وَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوْا أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلَّهِ | |
| And had those who wronged seen when they see the punishment | وَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا إِذْ يَرَوْنَ العَذَابَ | |
| and realize that all power belongs to Allah (SWT) | أَنَّ القُوَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيْعًا | |
| 2-165 | and that surely Allah (SWT) is severe in punishment | وَأَنَّ اللهَ شَدِيْدُ العَذَابِ |
| When those who were followed disown those who followed | إِذْ تَبَرَّأَ الَّذِيْنَ اتُّبِعُوْا مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْا | |
| 2-166 | and they see the punishment and the relations will be cut off from them | وَرَأَوُا العَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ الأَسْبَابُ |
| those are they who purchased misguidance at the cost of guidance | أُوْلَآئِكَ الَّذِيْنَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلَالَةَ بِالهُدَى | |
| and punishment at the cost of forgiveness | وَالعَذَابَ بِالمَغْفِرَةِ | |
| 2-175 | How persistent are they in pursuit of the fire | فَمَآ أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى النَارِ |
| the day faces will be white, and faces will be black | يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوْهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوْهٌ | |
| as for those whose faces turn black “Did you disbelieve after your belief?” | فَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اسْوَدَّتْ وُجُوْهُهُمْ أَكَفَرْتُمْ بَعْدَ إِيْمَانِكُمْ | |
| 3-106 | then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve | فَذُوْقٌوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ |
| and if you (could) see when they are made to stand before their Lord! | وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ وُقِفُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ | |
| He will say, “Is this not the truth?” | قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِالْحَقِّ | |
| They will say, “Yes indeed, by our Lord” | قَالُوا بَلَى وَرَبِّنَا | |
| 6-30 | He will then say; “So taste the punishment that which you used to disbelieve” | قَالَ فَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ |
| The first of them say to the last of them | وَقَالَتْ أُوْلَاهُمْ لِأُخْرَاهُمْ | |
| “Then not is for you over us any bounty (superiority-benefit) | فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ | |
| 7-39 | so, taste the punishment for what you used to earn” | فَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْسِبُوْنَ |
| and not were their prayers in the house except whistling and clapping | وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِنْدَ البَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَآءً وَتَصْدِيَةً | |
| 8-35 | so, taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve | فَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ |
| An enjoyment in the world then, to Us is their return then | مَتَاعٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ | |
| then, We will cause them to taste the severe punishment | ثُمَّ نُذِيْقُهُمُ العَذَابَ الشَّدِيْدَ | |
| 10-70 | because they used to disbelieve | بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْفُرُوْنَ |
| and Musa (AS) said, “Our Lord! indeed, you have given Firaun and his chiefs splendor | وَقَالَ مُوْسَى رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُ زِيْنَةً | |
| and wealth in the life of the world | وَأَمْوَالًا فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا | |
| Our Lord! that they may lead astray from your way | رَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا عَنْ سَبِيْلِكَ | |
| Our Lord! destroy on their wealth and harden on their hearts | رَبَّنَا اطْمِسْ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاشْدُدْ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ | |
| 10-88 | so, that not they believe until they see the painful punishment” | فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى يَرَوُا العَذَابَ الأَلِيْمَ |
| even if every sign comes to them | وَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ | |
| 10-97 | until they see the painful punishment | حَتَّى يَرَوُا العَذَابَ الأَلِيْمَ |
| and if We delay from them the punishment for a determined time | وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ العَذَابَ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُوْدَةٍ | |
| they will surely say, “What detains it?” | لَّيَقُوْلُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ | |
| no doubt! the day it comes to them, not will be averted from them | أَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيْهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوْفًا عَنْهُمْ | |
| 11-8 | and what they used to mock at it will surround them | وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ |
