الْعَذَابَ

A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – الْعَذَابَ is a noun

A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive

العَذَابُ is the natural state of this indefinite noun and it becomes العَذَابَ due to it being the: 1) المَفْعُوْلُ بِهِ object of a verb or 2) اسْمُ of إِنَّ or 3) خَبَرُ of كَانَ or 4) المَفْعُوْلُ فِيْهِ adverb of time or place or 5) المَفْعُوْلُ لَهُ noun that gives the reason for doing a thing or 6) المَفْعُوْلُ مَعَهُ noun that comes after the و which means “along with” or 7) المَفْعُوْلُ المُطْلَقُ is the مَصْدَرٌ of the verb occurring in the sentence or 8) الحَالُ adverb of manner or 9) التَّمْيِيْزُ noun that specifies the meaning of a vague word or 10) المُسْتَثْنَى noun that comes after إِلَّا meaning “except” or 11) المُنَادَى noun of calling or 12) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

Surah/Below are the 27 verses in the holy Quran containing the possessed nounالْعَذَابَ
Verse
And of mankind are some who take from other than Allah (SWT) as equalsوَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَّتَخِذُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللهِ أَنْدَادًا
loving them as they love Allah (SWT)يُحِبُّوْنَهُمْ كَحُبِّ اللهِ
but those that believe are stronger in their love for Allah (SWT)وَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوْا أَشَدُّ حُبًّا لِلَّهِ
And had those who wronged seen when they see the punishmentوَلَوْ يَرَى الَّذِيْنَ ظَلَمُوْا إِذْ يَرَوْنَ العَذَابَ
and realize that all power belongs to Allah (SWT)أَنَّ القُوَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيْعًا
2-165and that surely Allah (SWT) is severe in punishmentوَأَنَّ اللهَ شَدِيْدُ العَذَابِ
When those who were followed disown those who followedإِذْ تَبَرَّأَ الَّذِيْنَ اتُّبِعُوْا مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْا
2-166and they see the punishment and the relations will be cut off from themوَرَأَوُا العَذَابَ وَتَقَطَّعَتْ بِهِمُ الأَسْبَابُ
those are they who purchased misguidance at the cost of guidanceأُوْلَآئِكَ الَّذِيْنَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلَالَةَ بِالهُدَى
and punishment at the cost of forgivenessوَالعَذَابَ بِالمَغْفِرَةِ
2-175How persistent are they in pursuit of the fireفَمَآ أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى النَارِ
the day faces will be white, and faces will be blackيَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوْهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوْهٌ
as for those whose faces turn black “Did you disbelieve after your belief?”فَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ اسْوَدَّتْ وُجُوْهُهُمْ أَكَفَرْتُمْ بَعْدَ إِيْمَانِكُمْ
3-106then taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieveفَذُوْقٌوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ
and if you (could) see when they are made to stand before their Lord!وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ وُقِفُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ
He will say, “Is this not the truth?”قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَذَا بِالْحَقِّ
They will say, “Yes indeed, by our Lord”قَالُوا بَلَى وَرَبِّنَا
6-30He will then say; “So taste the punishment that which you used to disbelieve”قَالَ فَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ
The first of them say to the last of themوَقَالَتْ أُوْلَاهُمْ لِأُخْرَاهُمْ
“Then not is for you over us any bounty (superiority-benefit)فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ
7-39so, taste the punishment for what you used to earn”فَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْسِبُوْنَ
and not were their prayers in the house except whistling and clappingوَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِنْدَ البَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَآءً وَتَصْدِيَةً
8-35so, taste the punishment because you used to disbelieveفَذُوْقُوا العَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُوْنَ
An enjoyment in the world then, to Us is their return thenمَتَاعٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ
then, We will cause them to taste the severe punishmentثُمَّ نُذِيْقُهُمُ العَذَابَ الشَّدِيْدَ
10-70because they used to disbelieveبِمَا كَانُوا يَكْفُرُوْنَ
and Musa (AS) said, “Our Lord! indeed, you have given Firaun and his chiefs splendorوَقَالَ مُوْسَى رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ ءَاتَيْتَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَأَهُ زِيْنَةً
and wealth in the life of the worldوَأَمْوَالًا فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا
Our Lord! that they may lead astray from your wayرَبَّنَا لِيُضِلُّوا عَنْ سَبِيْلِكَ
Our Lord! destroy on their wealth and harden on their heartsرَبَّنَا اطْمِسْ عَلَى أَمْوَالِهِمْ وَاشْدُدْ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ
10-88so, that not they believe until they see the painful punishment فَلَا يُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى يَرَوُا العَذَابَ الأَلِيْمَ
even if every sign comes to themوَلَوْ جَآءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ ءَايَةٍ
10-97until they see the painful punishmentحَتَّى يَرَوُا العَذَابَ الأَلِيْمَ
and if We delay from them the punishment for a determined timeوَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ العَذَابَ إِلَى أُمَّةٍ مَّعْدُوْدَةٍ
they will surely say, “What detains it?”لَّيَقُوْلُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ
no doubt! the day it comes to them, not will be averted from themأَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيْهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوْفًا عَنْهُمْ
11-8and what they used to mock at it will surround themوَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ
