Part 30 / Chapter 89 | Chapter 89 /
By the dawn | 1 |
by the 10 nights (first 10 days of Dhul-Hijja) | 2 | وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ |
and by the even and the odd | 3 | وَالشَّفْعِ وَالوَتْرِ |
and by the night when it departs | 4 | وَالَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ |
Are there (not) in these (oaths) a proof for men of understanding? | 5 |
Did you not see how your lord dealt with (the people of) Ad | 6 |
(People of the city of) Iram, possessor of lofty pillars (buildings) | 7 |
the like of which were not created in the lands | 8 | الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي البِلَادِ |
and Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley | 9 | وَثَمُوْدَ الَّذِيْنَ جَابُوْا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ |
and Firaun (Pharaoh) possessor of the stakes | 10 | وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الأَوْتَادِ |
who transgressed beyond bounds in the lands | 11 | الَّذِينَ طَغَوا فِي البِلَادِ |
and made therein much mischief | 12 | فَأَكْثَرُوْا فِيهَا الفَسَادَ |
so, your lord poured on them a scourge (portion) of punishment | 13 | فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِم رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ |
Indeed, your lord is Ever Watchful | 14 |
As for man, when his Lord tries him by honoring him and favoring him | فَأَمَّا الإِنْسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ
then he says “my Lord has honored me” | 15 | فَيَقُوْلُ رَبِّى أَكْرَمَنِ |
but when He tries him by straitening his provision | وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ
then he says “my Lord has humiliated me” | 16 | فَيَقُوْلُ رَبِّى أَهَانَنِ |
Nay! but you do not honor the orphans (treat with kindness and generosity) | 17 |
and urge not one another to the feeding of the needy | 18 | وَلَا تَحَاضُّوْنَ عَلَى طَعَامِ المِسْكِيْنِ |
and you devour the inheritance with greed | 19 | وَتَأْكُلُوْنَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا |
and you love wealth with an immense love | 20 | وَتُحِبُّوْنَ المَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا |
Nay! when the earth is crushed a crushing, a crushing | 21 |
and your Lord comes with the angels in rows | 22 | وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا |
and that day Hell will be brought near | وَجِاْئَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ
on that day man will remember, but how will that remembrance avail him?
He will say “Alas would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for my life (hereafter) | 24 | يَقُوْلُ يَالَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى |
So, on that day none will punish as He will punish | 25 |
and none will bind as He will bind | 26 | وَلَا يُوْثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ |
O the soul in rest and satisfaction | 27 |
Return to your Lord well pleased and well pleasing | 28 |
Enter among My slaves | 29 |
and Enter My Paradise | 30 | وَادْخُلِى جَنَّتِى |
