غَيْرُ
A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – غَيْرُ is a noun
A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive
غَيْرٌ is the natural state of this indefinite noun and it is in this state ( مَرْفُوْعٌ) when the noun is: 1) the subject المُبْتَدَأُ or 2) the predicate الخَبَرُ or 3) اسْمُ كَانَ or 4) خَبَرُ إِنَّ or 5) الفَاعِلُ subject of a verb in the active voice or 6) نَائِبُ الفَاعِلِ subject of a verb in the passive voice or 7) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

| and sealed up your hearts which God other than Allah (SWT) can bring you to it?” | وَخَتَمَ عَلَى قُلُوْبِكُمْ مَّنْ إِلَاهٌ غَيْرُ اللهِ يَأْتِيْكُمْ بِهِ | |
| See how We explain the signs | انْظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الأَيَاتِ | |
| 6-46 | yet they turn away | ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُوْنَ |
| Certainly, We sent Noah to his people and he said, “O my people! worship Allah (SWT) | لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوْحًا إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ | |
| not for you any god other than Him | مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ | |
| 7-59 | truly I fear upon you the punishment of a great (severe-dreadful) day | إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيْمٍ |
| and to Aad, their brother Hud, he said, “O my people, worship Allah (SWT) | وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُوْدًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ | |
| 7-65 | not for you any god besides Him, will you not fear (be mindful-remember-become aware)?” | مَا لَكُمْ مِّنْ إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُوْنَ |
| And to Thamud their brother Salih (AS) | وَإِلَى ثَمُوْدَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا | |
| he said, “O my people, worship Allah (SWT) not for you from a God beside Him | قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ | |
| verily, came to you a clear proof from your Lord | قَدْ جَآءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ | |
| this she camel of Allah (SWT) is a sign for you so leave her to eat on the earth of Allah (SWT) | هَذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللهِ لَكُمْ ءَايَةً فَذَرُوْهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللهِ | |
| 7-73 | and let not any harm touch her lest a painful punishment seizes you | وَلَا تَمَسُّوْهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
| and to Madyan their brother Shuaib (AS) he said, “O my people! worship Allah (SWT) not for you a god other | وَإِلَى مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا | |
| he said, “O my people! worship Allah (SWT) not for you a god other than Him | قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ | |
| indeed, has come to you a clear proof from your Lord so, fulfil the weight and the measure | قَدْ جَآءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَوْفُوا الكَيْلَ وَالمِيْزَانَ | |
| and don’t diminish people in their things | وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ | |
| and don’t cause corruption in the earth after its reformation | وَلَا تُفْسِدُوْا فِي الأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا | |
| 7-85 | that is better for you if you are believers | ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُم مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ |
| so, move about in the land for four months | فَسِيْحُوا فِي الأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ | |
| and know that you cannot escape Allah (SWT) | وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى اللهِ | |
| 9-2 | and that Allah (SWT) is who disgraces the disbelievers | وَأَنَّ اللهَ مُخْزِي الكَافِرِيْنَ |
| and an announcement from Allah (SWT) and His messenger | وَأَذَانٌ مِّنَ اللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ | |
| to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage | إِلَى النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ | |
| that Allah (SWT) is free from obligations from the polytheists and so is His messenger | أَنَّ اللهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ المُشْرِكِيْنَ وَرَسُوْلُهُ | |
| so if you repent then it is good for you | فَإِنْ تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ | |
| but if you turn away then know that you are without escape from Allah (SWT) | وَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى اللهِ | |
| 9-3 | and give news to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment. | وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيْمٍ |
| He said, “O Nuh (AS) surely, he is not from your family indeed, his deeds are without righteousness. | قَالَ يَا نُوْحُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ إِنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ | |
| so, do not ask Me about what not you have of it any knowledge | فَلَا تَسْئَلْنِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ | |
| 11-46 | indeed, I admonish you lest you be among the ignorant.” | إِنِّي أَعِظُكَ أَنْ تَكُوْنَ مِنَ الجَاهِلِيْنَ |
| and to Aad We sent their brother Hud (AS) he said, “O my people! worship Allah (SWT) | وَإِلَى عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُوْدًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ | |
| 11-50 | not for you is any God other than Him, not you are but inventors | مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُوْنَ |
| and to Thamud, their brother Salih (AS), he said, “O my people, worship Allah (SWT) | وَإِلَى ثَمُوْدَ أَخَاهُم صَالِحًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ مَا لَكُم مِّن | |
| there is not for you a God other than He | مَا لَكُم مِّن إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ | |
| He brought you forth from the earth and He settled you therein | هُوَ أَنْشَأَكُم مِّنَ الأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُم فِيهَا | |
| 11-61 | so, seek His forgiveness then turn in repentance to Him, truly my Lord is Near, Responsive | فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيهِ إِنَّ رَبِّى قَرِيْبٌ مُّجِيْبٌ |
| but they killed her, so he said, “enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days | فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُوا فِى دَارِكُم ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ | |
| 11-65 | this is a promise that will not be belied | ذَلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوْبٍ |
| “O Ebrahim (AS), forsake this, indeed the commandment of your Lord has gone forth | يَآ إِبْرَاهِيْمُ أَعْرِضْ عَن هَذَآ إِنَّهُ قَد جَآءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ | |
| 11-76 | and verily, a torment will come for them which cannot be turned back | وَإِنَّهُم ءَاتِيهِم عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ |
| and to Madyan, their brother Shuaib (AS), he said, “O my people, worship Allah (SWT) | وَإِلَى مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُم شُعَيْبًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللهَ | |
| not for you from a God besides Him and do not decrease the measure | مَا لَكُم مِّن إِلَاهٍ غَيْرُهُ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا المِكْيَالَ | |
| and the scale, truly, I see you in prosperity and I truly fear | وَالمِيزَانَ إِنِّى أَرَاكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّى أَخَافُ | |
| 11-84 | for you the punishment of a day, all-encompassing | عَلَيكُم عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ |
