يَغْشَى
A word in the Arabic language will either be: 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – يَغْشَى is a verb
A verb will either be: 1) past tense or 2) present or future tense or 3) a command or request verb, also called an imperative – يَغْشَى is a present tense verb
A present or future tense verb will be in one of the following states: 1) مَرْفُوْعٌ – nominative or 2) مَنْصُوْبٌ – accusative or 3) مَجْزُوْمٌ – jussive
يَغْشَى is the natural state of this verb, which means it is in the nominative state (مَرْفُوْعٌ) and it remains in this state when it is not preceded by an accusative or jussive particle. Present or future tense verbs show their nominative state by 1) the presence of dammah in its ending or 2) by the presence of ن in the case of dual and plural verbs or 3) by estimation in the case of weak verbs (verbs ending in ي or و)

| then He sent down security to you from after the distress | ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِّنْ بَعْدِ الغَمِّ أَمَنَةً | |
| slumber overcame a party of you while a group certainly worried them their selves | نُّعَاسًا يَغْشَى طَآئِفَةً مِّنْكُمْ وَطَآئِفَةٌ قَدْ أَهَمَّتْهُمْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ | |
| thinking about Allah (SWT) other than the truth, the thought of ignorance | يَظُنُّوْنَ بِاللهِ غَيْرَ الحَقِّ ظَنَّ الجَاهِلِيَّةِ | |
| they say, “Is there for us from the decision anything?” | يَقُوْلُوْنَ هَلْ لَّنَا مِنَ الأَمْرِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ | |
| Say, “Indeed the matter wholly belongs to Allah (SWT)” | قُلْ إِنَّ الأَمْرَ كُلَّهُ لِلَّهِ | |
| they hide in themselves what not they reveal to you | يُخْفُوْنَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ مَّا لَا يُبْدُوْنَ لَكَ | |
| they say, “If was for us from the matter anything not we would have been killed here” | يَقُوْلُوْنَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ مَّا قُتِلْنَا هَاهُنَا | |
| Say, “If you were in your homes surely would come out those upon whom death was decreed | قُلْ لَّوْ كُنْتُمْ فِي بُيُوْتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ الَّذِيْنَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ القَتْلُ | |
| towards their places of death” but that Allah (SWT) might test what is in your breasts | إِلَى مَضَاجِعِهِمْ وَلِيَبْتَلِيَ اللهُ مَا فِي صُدُوْرِكُمْ | |
| 3-154 | and that He may purge what is in your hearts and Allah (SWT) is All-Aware of what is in the hearts | وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا فِي قُلُوْبِكُمْ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ |
| or like a darkness in a vast sea, covering it a wave, above it | أَوْ كَظُلُمَاتٍ فِيْ بَحْرٍ لُّجِّيٍّ يَغْشَاهُ مَوْجٌ مِّنْ فَوْقِهِ | |
| a wave, above it a cloud, darknesses, some of them above others | مَوْجٌ مِّنْ فَوْقِهِ سَحَابٌ ظُلُمَاتٌ بَعْضُهَا فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ | |
| when he holds out his hand, he can hardly see it | إِذَآ أَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ لَمْ يَكَدْ يَرَاهَا | |
| 24-40 | and to whom Allah SWT has not granted light then for him there is no light | وَمَن لَّمْ يَجْعَلِ اللهُ لَهُ نُوْرًا فَمَا لَهُ مِن نُّوْرٍ |
| the day the punishment will cover them from above them and from under their feet | يَوْمَ يَغْشَاهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ | |
