,
Part 10 / Chapter 9 | Chapter 9 | Chapter 9 /
Verse | ||
Rescinding all obligations from Allah (SWT) and His messenger to those you promised from the polytheists | 1 |
so, move about in the land for four months and know that you cannot escape Allah (SWT) | فَسِيْحُوا فِي الأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى اللهِ
and that Allah (SWT) is who disgraces the disbelievers | 2 | وَأَنَّ اللهَ مُخْزِي الكَافِرِيْنَ |
and an announcement from Allah (SWT) and His messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage | وَأَذَانٌ مِّنَ اللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الحَجِّ الأَكْبَرِ
that Allah (SWT) is free from obligations from the polytheists and so is His messenger so if you repent | أَنَّ اللهَ بَرِيءٌ مِّنَ المُشْرِكِيْنَ وَرَسُوْلُهُ فَإِنْ تُبْتُمْ
then it is good for you but if you turn away then know that you are without escape from Allah (SWT) | فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِى اللهِ
and give news to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment | 3 | وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيْمٍ |
except those whom you have a covenant from the polytheists and not they have failed you in anything | إِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ عَاهَدتُّم مِّنَ المُشْرِكِيْنَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْقُصُوْكُمْ شَيْئًا
and did not support against you anyone then fulfil to them their treaty until their term | وَلَمْ يُظَاهِرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ أَحَدًا فَأَتِمُّوا إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلَى مُدَّتِهِمْ
surely, Allah (SWT) loves the ones who are God conscious | 4 | إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ المُتَّقِيْنَ |
so, when the sacred months have passed then kill the polytheists wherever you find them | فَإِذَا انْسَلَخَ الأَشْهُرُ الحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُوا المُشْرِكِيْنَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوْهُمْ
and seize them and besiege them and sit (in wait) for them at every place of ambush | وَخُذُوْهُمْ وَاحْصُرُوْهُمْ وَاقْعُدُوا لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ
and if they repent and establish the prayer and pay the obligatory tax then leave their way | فَإِنْ تَابُوا وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَءَاتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّوا سَبِيْلَهُمْ
surely Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 5 | إِنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
and if any from the polytheists seek your protection then grant him protection until he hears the words of Allah (SWT) | وَإِنْ أَحَدٌ مِّنَ المُشْرِكِيْنَ اسْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى يَسْمَعَ كَلَامَ اللهِ
then escort him to his place of safety that is because they are a people who do not know | 6 | ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْلَمُوْنَ |
How can there be for the polytheists a covenant with Allah (SWT) and with His messenger |
except those who you made a covenant near the sacred mosque?
so, as long as they are upright to you then you be upright to them, surely Allah loves the ones who are Mindful | 7 | فَمَا اسْتَقَامُوا لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيْمُوا لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ المُتَّقِيْنَ |
and how if they gain dominance over you, they do not respect the ties of kinship with you nor of covenant?
they satisfy you with their mouths while their hearts refuse and most of them are defiantly disobedient | 8 | يُرْضُوْنَكُمْ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتَابَى قُلُوْبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُوْنَ |
they exchanged the verses of Allah (SWT) for a small price (a paltry gain) and they hinder from His way | اشْتَرَوا بِئَايَاتِ اللهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًا فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيْلِهِ
surely, they, evil is what they used to do | 9 | إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُوْنَ |
they do not respect towards the believer the ties of kinship nor of covenant and those, they are the transgressors | 10 | لَا يَرْقُبُوْنَ فِي مُؤْمِنٍ إِلًّا وَلَا ذِمَّةً وَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ المُعْتَدُوْنَ |
and if they repent and establish the prayer and pay the obligatory tax then they are your brothers in the religion | فَإِنْ تَابُوا وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَءَاتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدِّيْنِ
so, We explain the signs for a people who know | 11 | وَنُفَصِّلُ الئَايَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُوْنَ |
and if they break their oaths from after their treaty and defame in your religion | وَإِن نَّكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُم مِّن بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُوا فِي دِيْنِكُمْ
then fight the leaders of the disbelief surely, they, no oaths for them so that they may cease | 12 | فَقَاتِلُوا أَئِمَّةَ الكُفْرِ إِنَّهُمْ لَآ أَيْمَانَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنْتَهُوْنَ |
will you not fight a people who broke their oaths and are determined to drive out the messenger | أَلَا تُقَاتِلُوْنَ قَوْمًا نَّكَثُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا بِإِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُوْلِ
and they initiate against you the first time? do you fear them? while Allah (SWT) has more right that you should fear Him | وَهُمْ بَدَءُوْكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْ فَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَوْهُ
if you are believers | 13 | إِنْ كُنْتُم مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ |
fight them, Allah (SWT) punishes them by your hands and disgrace them and help you over them | قَاتِلُوْهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللهُ بِأَيْدِيْكُمْ وَيُخْزِيْهِمْ وَيَنْصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ
and heal the breasts of a believing people | 14 | وَيَشْفِ صُدُوْرَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ |
and remove the anger of their hearts and Allah (SWT) accepts the repentance of whom He wills | وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوْبِهِمْ وَيَتُوْبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَن يَشَآءُ
and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 15 | وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
Do you think that you will be left while not Allah (SWT) knows (makes evident) those who strive among them | أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تُتْرَكُوا وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اللهُ الَّذِيْنَ جَاهَدُوا مِنْكُمْ
and did not take from other than Allah (SWT) and not His messenger and not the believers as intimates?
and Allah (SWT) is well aware of what you do | 16 | وَاللهُ خَبِيْرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ |
not was for the polytheists that they maintain the houses (mosques) of Allah (SWT) witnessing against | مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِيْنَ أَنْ يَعْمُرُوا مَسَاجِدَ اللهِ شَاهِدِيْنَ عَلَى
themselves with disbelief, those, their deeds are worthless, and, in the fire, they will abide forever | 17 | أَنْفُسِهِمْ بِالكُفْرِ أُوْلَآئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَفِي النَّارِ هُمْ خَالِدُوْنَ |
only they maintain the mosques of Allah (SWT) who believe in Allah (SWT) and the last day | إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَاجِدَ اللهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ
and establish the prayer and pay the obligatory tax and did not fear but Allah (SWT) | وَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ وَءَاتَى الزَّكَاةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا اللهَ
then perhaps, those, that they are from the guided ones | 18 | فَعَسَى أُوْلَآئِكَ أَنْ يَكُوْنُوا مِنَ المُهْتَدِيْنَ |
Do you make the providing of water to the pilgrims and the maintenance of the sacred house |
like whom believe in Allah (SWT) and the last day and strives in the way of Allah (SWT)?
they are not equal near Allah (SWT) and Allah (SWT) does not guide the wrongdoing people | 19 | لَا يَسْتَوُوْنَ عِنْدَ اللهِ وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ |
those who believed and emigrated and strove in the way of Allah (SWT) | الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
with their wealth and their lives are in greater ranks near Allah (SWT) | بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِنْدَ اللهِ
and those, they are the successful ones | 20 | وَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الفَآئِزُوْنَ |
their Lord gives them glad tidings of mercy from Him and pleasure (approval) and gardens | يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَانٍ وَجَنَّاتٍ
for them, in it enduring (favors) bliss | 21 | لَّهُمْ فِيْهَا نَعِيْمٌ مُّقِيْمٌ |
they will abide in it forever, surely, Allah (SWT), with Him is a great reward | 22 | خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا إِنَّ اللهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيْمٌ |
O you who believe! do not take your fathers and your brothers as allies |
if they prefer disbelief over belief and whoever takes them as allies among you | إِنِ اسْتَحَبُّوا الكُفْرَ عَلَى الإِيْمَانِ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنْكُمْ
then those, they are the wrongdoers | 23 | فَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُوْنَ |
Say, “If were your parents and your children and your siblings and your spouses | قُلْ إِنْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَانُكُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُكُمْ
and your relatives and the wealth you have acquired and the commerce you fear a decline in it | وَعَشِيْرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَالٌ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوْهَا وَتِجَارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا
and the dwellings you delight in it are more beloved to you than Allah (SWT) and His messenger | وَمَسَاكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ اللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ
and striving in His path then wait until Allah (SWT) brings His command | وَجِهَادٍ فِي سَبِيْلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ اللهُ بِأَمْرِهِ
and Allah (SWT) does not guide the defiantly disobedient people | 24 | وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمِ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
Verily, Allah (SWT) helped you in many regions and on the day of hunain |
when your multitude pleased you, but it did not avail you anything | إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنْكُمْ شَيْئًا
and the earth was straightened on you in spite of it being vast then you turned back fleeing | 25 | وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الأَرْضُ بِمَا رَجُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِيْنَ |
then Allah (SWT) sent down His tranquility on His messenger and on the believers | ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ سَكِيْنَتَهُ عَلَى رَسُوْلِهِ وَعَلَى المُؤْمِنِيْنَ
and sent down forces which you did not see and He punished those who disbelieved | وَأَنْزَلَ جُنُوْدًا لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعَذَّبَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا
and that is the reward of the disbelievers | 26 | وَذَلِكَ جَزَآءُ الكَافِرِيْنَ |
then Allah (SWT) accepts repentance after that from whom He wills and Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 27 | ثُمَّ يَتُوْبُ اللهُ مِن بَعْدِ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مَن يَشَآءُ وَاللهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
O you who believe! indeed, the polytheists are unclean |
so, let them not come near the sacred house after this their year | فَلَا يَقْرَبُوا المَسْجِدَ الحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَذَا
and if you fear poverty then soon Allah (SWT) will enrich you from His bounty if He wills | وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةً فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيْكُمُ اللهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ إِنْ شَآءَ
surely, Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 28 | إِنَّ اللهَ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
Fight those who do not believe in Allah (SWT) nor in the last day | قَاتِلُوا الَّذِيْنَ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللهِ وَلَا بِاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ
nor they forbid what Allah (SWT) and His messenger forbade nor they acknowledge the religion of truth | وَلَا يُحَرِّمُوْنَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ وَلَا يَدِيْنُوْنَ دِيْنَ الحَقِّ
from those who were given the book until they give the tax in acknowledgement of superiority out of hand | مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ حَتَّى يُعْطُوا الجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَدٍ
while they are humbled (in a state of subjection-subdued) | 29 | وَهُمْ صَاغِرُوْنَ |
The Jews say, “Uzair is the son of Allah (SWT) | وَقَالَتِ اليَهُوْدُ عُزِيْرٌ ابْنُ اللهِ
while the Christians say, “The messiah is the son of Allah (SWT)” that, their saying with their mouths | وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى المَسِيْحُ ابْنُ اللهِ ذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُمْ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ
they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved from before | يُضَاهِئُوْنَ قَوْلَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ
Allah (SWT) fought them, how they are in delusion | 30 |
They have taken their rabbis and their monks as their Lords from other than Allah (SWT) |
and the Messiah, son of Maryam and not were they commanded but to worship One God | وَالمَسِيْحَ ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَمَآ أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا إِلَاهًا وَاحِدًا
there is no God except Him, Glory be to Him over what they associate | 31 | لَّا إِلَاهَ إِلَّا هُوَ سُبْحَانَهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ |
They wish to extinguish the light of Allah (SWT) with their mouths but Allah (SWT) refuses |
except to complete His light even if the disbelievers dislike it | 32 | إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُوْرَهُ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الكَافِرُوْنَ |
He is who sent His messenger with the guidance and the religion of truth |
to manifest it over all religions even if the polytheists dislike it | 33 | لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّيْنِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ المُشْرِكُوْنَ |
O you who believe! indeed, many of the rabbis and the monks |
surely consume the wealth of the people unjustly (falsely) and hinder from the path of Allah (SWT) | لَيَأْكُلُوْنَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالبَاطِلِ وَيَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
and those who hoard the gold and the silver, and they don’t spend it in the way of Allah (SWT) | وَالَّذِيْنَ يَكْنِزُوْنَ الذَّهَبَ وَالفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنْفِقُوْنَهَا فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
so, give them tidings of a painful punishment | 34 | فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيْمٍ |
On the day it will be heated in the fire of hell and will be branded with it | يَوْمَ يُحْمَى عَلَيْهَا فِيْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُقْوَى بِهَا
their foreheads and their flanks and their backs | جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوْبُهُمْ وَظُهُوْرُهُمْ
“This is what you hoarded for yourselves so taste what you used to hoard” | 35 |
Indeed, the number of months with Allah (SWT) is twelve months in the book of Allah (SWT) |
on the day He created the heavens and the earth, from it four are sacred | يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ
that is the upright religion so do not wrong yourselves therein | ذَلِكَ الدِّيْنُ القَيِّمُ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا فِيْهِنَّ أَنْفُسَكُمْ
and fight the polytheists altogether as they fight you altogether | وَقَاتِلُوا المُشْرِكِيْنَ كَآفَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُوْنَكُمْ كَآفَّةً
and know that Allah (SWT) is with the God-conscious (mindful) | 36 | وَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ مَعَ المُتَّقِيْنَ |
Indeed, the postponing is an increase in disbelief, those who disbelieve are led astray by it | إِنَّمَا النَّسِيءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الكُفْرِ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا
they make it lawful one year and make it unlawful one year to adjust the number Allah (SWT) made unlawful | يُحِلُّوْنَهُ عَامًا وَيُحَرِّمُوْنَهُ عَامًا لِّيُوَاطِئُوا عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ
and make lawful what Allah (SWT) made unlawful, the evil of their deeds is made fair seeming to them | فَيُحِلُّوا مَا حَرَّمَ اللهُ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوْءُ أَعْمَالِهِمْ
and Allah (SWT) does not guide the disbelieving people | 37 | وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الكَافِرِيْنَ |
O you who believe! what is with you that when it is said to you, go forth in the way of Allah (SWT) |
you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of the world than the hereafter?
but what is the enjoyment of the world life in (comparison to) the hereafter except a little | 38 | فَمَا مَتَاعُ الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فِيْ الآخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيْلٌ |
If not, you go forth He will punish you with a painful punishment and He will replace with a people other than you | إِلَّا تَنْفِرُوا يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيْمًا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ
and not you can harm Him anything and Allah (SWT) is over everything All-Powerful | 39 | وَلَا تَضُرُّوْهُ شَيْئًا وَاللهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ |
If not, you help him then certainly, Allah (SWT) helped him when those who disbelieved drove him out | إِلَّا تَنْصُرُوْهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا
the second of the two when they both were in the cave when he said to his companion | ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِيْ الغَارِ إِذْ يَقُوْلُ لِصَاحِبِهِ
“Do not grieve surely Allah (SWT) is with us” so Allah (SWT) sent down His tranquility on him | لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللهَ مَعَنَا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ سَكِيْنَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ
and supported him with forces which you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved, the lowest | وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنُوْدٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا السُّفْلَى
while the word of Allah (SWT), it is the highest and Allah (SWT) is All-Mighty, All-Wise | 40 | وَكَلِمَةُ اللهِ هِيَ العُلْيَا وَاللهُ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
Go forth light or heavy and strive with your wealth and your lives |
in the way of Allah (SWT), that is better for you, if you know | 41 | فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ |
If it had been a near gain and an easy journey surely, they would have followed you | لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيْبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لَّاتَّبَعُوْكَ
but the distance was long for them, and they will swear by Allah (SWT) | وَلَاكِنْ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ وَسَيَحْلِفُوْنَ بِاللهِ
“If we were able certainly, we would have come forth with you” they destroy themselves |
and Allah (SWT) knows surely, they are certainly liars | 42 | وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُوْنَ |
May Allah (SWT) forgive you! why did you permit them until those who were truthful became clear to you | عَفَا اللهُ عَنْكَ لِمَ أَذِنْتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذِيْنَ صَدَقُوا
and you knew the liars?
Those who believe in Allah (SWT) and the last day would not seek permission (excuse) from you | لَا يَسْتَئْذِنُكَ الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ
that they strive with their wealth and their lives and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing of the ones who fear | 44 | أَنْ يُجَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ بِالمُتَّقِيْنَ |
Only those who do not believe in Allah (SWT) and the last day seek your permission (leave) |
and their hearts doubt so, they in their doubt, they waver | 45 | وَارْتَابَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِيْ رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُوْنَ |
and if they wished to come forth surely, they would have prepared for it some preparation | وَلَوْ أَرَادُوا الخُرُوْجَ لَأَعَدُّوا لَهُ عُدَّةً
but Allah (SWT) disliked their being sent so He caused them to lag behind and it was said, | وَلَاكِنْ كَرِهَ اللهُ انْبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيْلَ
“Sit with those who sit” | 46 |
Had you left with them, not they would have increased you except in confusion, and they would surely, have been active |
in your midst seeking for you dissension and among you are some who would have listened to them | خِلَالَكُمْ يَبْغُوْنَكُمُ الفِتْنَةَ وَفِيْكُمْ سَمَّاعُوْنَ لَهُمْ
and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing concerning the wrongdoers | 47 | وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ بِالظَّالِمِيْنَ |
Verily, they had sought dissension from before and had upset for you the matters |
until the truth came, and the order of Allah (SWT) became manifest while they disliked it | 48 | حَتَّى جَآءَ الحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اللهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُوْنَ |
and among them who say, “Permit for me and do not put me to trial” surely, in the trial they have fallen | وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَقُوْلُ ائْذَن لِّي وَلَا تَفْتِنِّي أَلَا فِي الفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُوا
and truly, Hell will surely surround the disbelievers | 49 | وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيْطَةٌ بِالكَافِرِيْنَ |
If good befalls you, it distresses them and if a misfortune befalls you they say, |
“Verily we took our matter from before” and they turn away while they are rejoicing | 50 |
Say, “Not will befall us except what Allah (SWT) destined for us, He is our Protector” |
and on Allah (SWT) then, let the believers place their trust | 51 | وَعَلَى اللهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ المُؤْمِنُوْنَ |
Say, “Can you expect for us except one of the two best (martyrdom or victory) | قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُوْنَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى الحُسْنَيَيْنِ
while we expect for you that Allah (SWT) will afflict you with a punishment from Him | وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمْ أَن يُصِيْبَكُمُ اللهُ بَعَذَابٍ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ
or by our hands so you wait (expect), surely, we are with you waiting (expecting)” | 52 | أَوْ بِأَيْدِيْنَا فَتَرَبَّصُوا إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُوْنَ |
Say, “Spend willingly or unwillingly, not, will it be accepted from you | قُلْ أَنْفِقُوا طَوْعًا أَوْ كَرْهًا لَّن يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنْكُمْ
indeed, you are a people defiantly disobedient” | 53 | إِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا فَاسِقِيْنَ |
and not prevents them that is accepted from them their contributions except that they disbelieve in Allah (SWT) | وَمَا مَنَعَهُمْ أَنْ تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَاتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللهِ
and in His messenger and not they come to the prayer except while they are lazy | وَبِرَسُوْلِهِ وَلَا يَأْتُوْنَ الصَّلَاةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَالَى
and not they spend except while they are unwilling | 54 | وَلَا يُنْفِقُوْنَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَارِهُوْنَ |
so, let not their wealth impress you nor their children, only Allah (SWT) wishes to punish them | فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَلآ أَوْلَادُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ
with it in the worldly life and their souls should depart while they are disbelievers | 55 | بِمَا فِي الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنْفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُوْنَ |
and they swear by Allah (SWT) indeed, they surely, are of you while not they are of you, but they are a people, afraid | 56 | وَيَحْلِفُوْنَ بِاللهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنْكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنْكُمْ وَلَاكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ يَفْرَقُوْنَ |
If they could find a refuge or caves or a place to enter surely, they would certainly turn to it | لَوْ يَجِدُوْنَ مَلْجَئًا أَوْ مَغَارَاتٍ أَوْ مُدَّخَلًا لَّوَلَّوْا إِلَيْهِ
while they run heedlessly | 57 | وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُوْنَ |
and among them who criticizes you concerning the charities so, if they are given from it, they are happy | وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا مِنْهَا رَضُوا
and if they are not given from it then they are enraged | 58 | وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطُوا مِنْهَآ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُوْنَ |
and if they were pleased with what Allah (SWT) and His messenger gave them and said, “Sufficient for us is Allah (SWT) | وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ رَضُوا مَآ ءَاتَاهُمُ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللهُ
Allah (SWT) will give us from His bounty and His messenger surely, to Allah (SWT) we turn our hopes” | 59 |
Only the charities are for the poor and the needy and those who collect for it | إِنَّمَا الصَّدَقَاتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَالمَسَاكِيْنِ وَالعَامِلِيْنَ عَلَيْهَا
and the ones whose hearts inclined and in freeing the necks and for those in debt and in the way of Allah (SWT) | وَالمُؤَلَّفَةِ قُلُوْبُهُمْ وَفِيْ الرِّقَابِ وَالغَارِمِيْنَ وَفِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
and the wayfarer, an obligation from Allah (SWT) and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 60 | وَابْنِ السَّبِيْلِ فَرِيْضَةً مِّنَ اللهِ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
and among them those who harm the prophet, and they say, “He is ear” | وَمِنْهُمُ الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ النَّبِيَّ وَيَقُوْلُوْنَ هُوَ أُذُنٌ
Say, “an ear of goodness for you, he believes in Allah (SWT) and he believes the believers | قُلْ أُذُنُ خَيْرٍ لَّكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَ يُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ
and is a mercy to those who believe among you” and those who harm the messenger of Allah (SWT) | وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَالَّذِيْنَ يُؤْذُوْنَ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ
for them is a painful punishment | 61 | لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
They swear by Allah (SWT) to you to please you and Allah (SWT) and His messenger |
have more right that they should please Him if they are believers | 62 | أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُرْضُوْهُ إِنْ كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِيْنَ |
Do they not know that he who opposes Allah (SWT) and His messenger |
then that, for him is the fire of hell, abiding therein forever? That is a great disgrace | 63 | فَأَنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدًا فِيْهَا ذَلِكَ الخِزْيُ العَظِيْمُ |
The hypocrites fear that a surah be revealed about them informing them of what is in their hearts |
Say, “Mock, indeed, Allah (SWT) will bring forth what you fear” | 64 |
and surely, if you ask them, they will certainly say, “only we were conversing idly and playing” | وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُوْلُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوْضُ وَنَلْعَبُ
Say, “Is it with Allah (SWT) and His signs and His messenger you were mocking?” | 65 |
Do not make excuse, indeed, you disbelieved after you believed |
if We pardon a party among you, We will punish a party because that they were criminal | 66 | إِن نَّعْفُ عَنْ طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنْكُمْ نُعَذِّبْ طَآئِفَةٌ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِيْنَ |
The hypocrite men and hypocrite women, some of them from others |
they enjoin the wrong and forbid the right and they withhold their hands | يَأْمُرُوْنَ بِالمُنْكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ المَعْرُوْفِ وَيَقْبِضُوْنَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ
they forgot Allah (SWT) so, He forgot them, surely, the hypocrites, they are defiantly disobedient | 67 | نَسُوا اللهَ فَنَسِيَهُمْ إِنَّ المُنَافِقِيْنَ هُمُ الفَاسِقُوْنَ |
Allah (SWT) promised the hypocrite men and women and the disbelievers the fire of hell abiding forever in it | وَعَدَ اللهُ المُنَافِقِيْنَ وَالمُنَافِقَاتِ وَالكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا
it is sufficient for them, and Allah (SWT) cursed them and for them is an enduring punishment | 68 | هِيَ حَسْبُهُمْ وَلَعَنَهُمُ اللهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيْمٌ |
like those from before you, they were more than you in strength and more in wealth and children | كَالَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوا أَشَدَّ مِنْكُمْ قُوَّةً وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَالًا وَأَوْلَادًا
so, they enjoyed their portion, and you enjoyed your portion like enjoyed those | فَاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلَاقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلَاقِكُمْ كَمَا اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذِيْنَ
before you their portion and you engage in idle talk like the one who engages | مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِخَلَاقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذِي خَاضُوا
those, their deeds are worthless in the world and the hereafter | أُوْلَآئِكَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ
and those, they are the losers | 69 | وَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الخَاسِرُوْنَ |
Did not come to them the news of those from before them, the people of Nuh (AS) and Aad and Thamud |
and the people of Ebrahim (AS) and the companions of Madian and the towns overthrown | وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَأَصْحَابِ مَدْيَنَ وَالمُؤْتَفِكَاتِ
their messengers came to them with the clear signs | أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالبَيِّنَاتِ
so, not was Allah (SWT) to wrong them but they used to wrong themselves | 70 | فَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَاكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُوْنَ |
and the believers (men) and the believers (women), some of them are (guardians-protectors) of others | وَالمُؤْمِنُوْنَ وَالمُؤْمِنَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ
they enjoin to the right and forbid from the wrong | يَأْمُرُوْنَ بِالمَعْرُوْفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ المُنْكَرِ
and they establish the prayer and give the obligatory tax and they obey Allah (SWT) and His messenger | وَيُقِيْمُوْنَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوْنَ الزَّكَاةَ وَيُطِيعُوْنَ اللهَ وَرَسُوْلَهُ
those, Allah (SWT) will show them mercy surely, Allah (SWT) is All-Mighty, All-Wise | 71 | أُوْلَآئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اللهُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
Allah (SWT) promised the believers men and women gardens (paradise), flows from underneath it | وَعَدَ اللهُ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا
rivers, abiding therein forever, and blessed dwellings in gardens of eternity | الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا وَمَسَاكِنَ طَيِّبَةً فِي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ
but the approval of Allah (SWT) is greater, that, it is the great success | 72 | وَرِضْوَانٌ مِّنَ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ |
O Prophet! strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be stern with them | يَآ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ جَاهِدِ الكُفَّارَ وَالمُنَافِقِيْنَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ
and their abode is Hell and wretched is the destination | 73 | وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ المَِصِيْرُ |
They swear by Allah (SWT) not they said while they certainly said the word of disbelief |
and they disbelieved after their submission and planned for what not they could attain | وَكَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا
and not were they resentful except that Allah (SWT) and His Messenger had enriched them from His bounty | وَمَا نَقَمُوا إِلَّا أَنْ اَغْنَاهُمُ اللهُ وَرَسُوْلُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
so, if they repent it is better for them and if they turn away | فَإِنْ يَتُوْبُوا يَكُ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَإِنْ يَتَوَلَّوا
Allah (SWT) will punish them with a painful punishment in the world and the hereafter |
and not for them in the earth an ally nor a helper | 74 | وَمَا لَهُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيْرٍ |
and among them who made a covenant with Allah (SWT) “surely, if He gives us from His bounty | وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَاهَدَ اللهَ لَئِنْ ءَاتَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلِهِ
we will surely give charity and we will surely be from the righteous” | 75 | لَنَصَدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ |
but when He gave them of His bounty, they became stingy with it and turned away while they were averse | 76 | فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَاهُم مِّنْ فَضْلِهِ بَخِلُوا بِهِ وَتَوَلَّوا وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُوْنَ |
so, He penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the day they will meet Him | فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقًا فِي قُلُوْبِهِمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُ
because they failed Allah (SWT) what they promised Him and because they were liars | 77 | بِمَآ أَخْلَفُوا اللهَ مَا وَعَدُوْهُ وَبِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُوْنَ |
Do they not know that Allah (SWT) knows their secret and their private conversations |
and that Allah (SWT) is the All-Knower of the unseen?
those who criticize the ones who give willingly of the believers in the charities | الَّذِيْنَ يَلْمِزُوْنَ المُطَّوِّعِيْنَ مِنَ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ
and those who find not except their effort so, they ridicule them | وَالَّذِيْنَ لَا يَجِدُوْنَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُوْنَ مِنْهُمْ
Allah (SWT) will ridicule them and for them is a painful punishment | 79 |
Ask forgiveness for them or don’t ask forgiveness for them, if you ask forgiveness for them seventy times |
not will Allah (SWT) forgive them, that is because they disbelieved in Allah (SWT) and His Messenger | فَلَن يَغْفِرَ اللهُ لَهُمْ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ
and Allah (SWT) does not guide the defiantly disobedient people | 80 | وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
Those who remained behind rejoiced in their staying behind the Messenger of Allah (SWT) |
and they disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the way of Allah (SWT) | وَكَرِهُوا أَنْ يُجَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ
and they said, “Do not go forth in the heat” say, “the fire of hell is a more intense heat” | وَقَالُوا لَا تَنْفِرُوا فِي الحَرِّ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرًّا
if only they could understand | 81 | لَّوْ كَانُوا يَفْقَهُوْنَ |
so, let them laugh a little and let them weep much as a recompense for what they used to earn | 82 | فَلْيَضْحَكُوا قَلِيْلًا وَلْيَبْكُوا كَثِيْرًا جَزَآءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُوْنَ |
so, if Allah (SWT) returns you to a group among them and they seek permission from you to let them go out | فَإِن رَّجَعَكَ اللهُ إِلَى طَآئِفَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسْتَئْذَنُوْكَ لِلْخُرُوْجِ
then say, “you will not come out with me ever and not will you fight with me an enemy | فَقُل لَّنْ تَخْرُجُوا مَعِيَ أَبَدًا وَلَن تُقَاتِلُوا مَعَيَ عَدُوًّا
surely, you were pleased with sitting the first time so sit with those who stay behind” | 83 | إِنَّكُمْ رَضِيْتُمْ بِالقُعُوْدِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ فَاقْعُدُوا مَعَ الخَالِفِيْنَ |
and do not pray on anyone among them that dies ever and do not stand by his grave | وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ
truly they disbelieved in Allah (SWT) and His Messenger and they died while they were defiantly disobedient | 84 | إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُوا بِاللهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ فَاسِقُوْنَ |
and let not impress you their wealth and their children, only Allah (SWT) wishes to punish them with it | وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَأَوْلَادُهُمْ إِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللهُ أَن يُعَذِّبَهُمْ بِمَا
in the world and their souls will depart while they are disbelievers | 85 | فِي الدُّنْيَا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنْفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَافِرُوْنَ |
and when a chapter was revealed to believe in Allah (SWT) and strive with His Messenger | وَإِذَآ أُنْزِلَتْ سُوْرَةٌ أَنْ ءَامِنُوا بِاللهِ وَجَاهِدُوا مَعَ رَسُوْلِهِ
the men of wealth among them ask your permission and said, “leave us to be with those who sit” | 86 | اسْتَئْذَنَكَ أُوْلُوا الطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُوا ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ القَاعِدِيْنَ |
they were pleased to be with the ones who stay behind, and it was sealed on their hearts | رَضُوا بِأَن يَكُوْنُوا مَعَ الخَوَالِفِ وَطُبِعَ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ
so, they do not understand | 87 | فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُوْنَ |
but the Messenger and those who believed with him, they strove with their wealth and their lives | لَاكِنِ الرَّسُوْلُ وَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا مَعَهُ جَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ
and those, for them the good things and those, they are the successful ones | 88 | وَأُوْلَآئِكَ لَهُمُ الخَيْرَاتُ وَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ المُفْلِحُوْنَ |
Allah (SWT) has prepared for them gardens, flowing from underneath it, rivers, abiding therein forever |
that is the great success | 89 | ذَلِكَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ |
and the ones who make excuses from the Bedouins came for permission to be granted to them and sat those who lied | وَجَآءَ المُعَذِّرُوْنَ مِنَ الأَعْرَابِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَبُوا
to Allah (SWT) and His Messenger, a painful punishment will befall those who disbelieved among them | 90 | اللهَ وَرَسُوْلَهُ سَيُصِيْبُ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
It is not on the weak nor on the sick nor on those | لَيْسَ عَلَى الضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى المَرْضَى وَلَا عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ
who do not find what they can spend, any blame if they are sincere to Allah (SWT) and His Messenger | لَا يَجِدُوْنَ مَا يُنْفِقُوْنَ حَرَجٌُ إِذَا نَصَحُوا لِلَّهِ وَرَسُوْلِهِ
not on the good doers from a way (blame) and Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 91 | مَا عَلَى المُحْسِنِيْنَ مِنْ سَبِيْلٍ وَاللهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
and not on those who when, when they came to you to carry them (mount) you said, “not I find what to mount you | وَلَا عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ إِذَا مَآ أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ أَجِدُ مَآ أَحْمِلُكُمْ
on it, they turned back with their eyes flowing with tears | عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّوا وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيْضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ
sorrowful that not they can find what they could spend | 92 | حَزَنًا أَلَّا يَجِدُوا مَا يُنْفِقُوْنَ |
only the way (blame) is on those who seek your permission while they are rich, they are pleased to | إِنَّمَا السَّبِيْلُ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ يَسْتَئْذِنُوْنَكَ وَهُمْ أَغْنِيَآءُ رَضُوا بِأَن
be with the ones who stay behind, and Allah (SWT) sealed up their hearts so, they do not know | 93 | يَكُوْنُوا مَعَ الخَوَالِفِ وَطَبَعَ اللهُ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ |
Part 11 / Chapter 9 | Chapter 9 /
They will make excuses to you when you return to them, say, “Let not you make excuses, not will we believe you | يَعْتَذِرُوْنَ إِلَيْكُمْ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ قُل لَّا تَعْتَذِرُوا لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ
Verily Allah (SWT) has informed us of your news and Allah (SWT) will see your deeds and His Messenger |
then you will be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen then He will inform you of what you used to do” | 94 | ثُمَّ تُرَدُّوْنَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ |
They will swear by Allah (SWT) to you when you returned to them to turn away from them so, turn away |
from them, truly, they are impure, and their abode is Hell, a recompense for what they used to earn | 95 | عَنْهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٌ وَمَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ جَزَآءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُوْنَ |
They swear to you that you may be pleased with them but if you are pleased with them | يَحْلِفُوْنَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوا عَنْهُمْ فَإِنْ تَرْضَوا عَنْهُمْ
then surely, Allah (SWT) is not pleased with the defiantly disobedient people | 96 | فَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَرْضَى عَنِ القَوْمِ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
The Bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and more likely that not they know the limits of what | الأَعْرَابُ أَشَدُّ كُفْرًا وَنِفَاقًا وَأَجْدَرُ أَلَّا يَعْلَمُوا حُدُوْدَ مَآ
Allah (SWT) revealed to His Messenger and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 97 |
and from the Bedouins who take what he spends as a loss, and he waits for you | وَمِنَ الأَعْرَابِ مَن يَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنْفِقُ مَغْرَمًا وَيَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُ
the turns (of misfortune), upon them will be the turn of evil and Allah (SWT) is All-Hearing, All-Knowing | 98 | الدَّوَآئِرَ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ السَّوْءِ وَاللهُ سَمِيْعٌ عَلِيْمٌ |
and from the Bedouins is he who believes in Allah (SWT) and the last day and takes what he spends | وَمِنَ الأَعْرَابِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَيَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنْفِقُ
as a means of nearness to Allah (SWT) and blessings of the Messenger, behold indeed, it is a means of nearness for them | قُرُبَاتٍ عِنْدَ اللهِ وَصَلَوَاتِ الرَّسُوْلِ أَلَآ إِنَّمَا قُرْبَةٌ لَّهُمْ
Allah (SWT) will admit them into His mercy, surely, Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 99 |
The first forerunners from the emigrants and the helpers and those who | وَالسَّابِقُوْنَ الأَوَّلُوْنَ مِنَ المُهَاجِرِيْنَ وَالأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِيْنَ
followed them in righteousness, Allah (SWT) is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him | اتَّبَعُوْهُمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ رَّضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ
and He has prepared for them gardens flowing underneath it, rivers, abiding therein forever | وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي تَحْتَهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا
that is the great success | 100 | ذَلِكَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ |
and from who around you from the Bedouins are the hypocrites and from the people of the city | وَمِمَّنْ حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ الأَعْرَابِ مُنَافِقُوْنَ وَمِنْ أَهْلِ المَدِيْنَةِ
they persist in the hypocrisy, not you know them, We know them, We will punish them twice | مَرَدُوا عَلَى النِّفَاقِ لَا تَعْلَمُهُمْ نَحْنُ نَعْلَمُهُمْ سَنُعَذِّبُهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ
then they will be returned to a great punishment | 101 | ثُمَّ يُرَدُّوْنَ إِلَى عَذَابٍ عَظِيْمٍ |
and others (who have) acknowledged their sins, they had mixed a righteous deed with an evil deed | وَءَاخَرُوْنَ اعْتَرَفُوا بِذُنُوْبِهِمْ خَلَطُوا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا
with another that was evil, perhaps Allah (SWT) will turn to them, surely Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 102 | وَآخَرَ سَيِّئًا عَسَى اللهُ أَنْ يَتُوْبَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
Take from their wealth a charity, it purifies them and causes them increase by it and pray upon them | خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيْهِمْ بِمَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ
surely, your prayer is a comfort for them, and Allah (SWT) is All-Hearing, All-Knowing | 103 | إِنَّ صَلَاتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَّهُمْ وَاللهُ سَمِيْعٌ عَلِيْمٌ |
Did they not know that Allah (SWT), He accepts the repentance from His slaves and takes the | أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ هُوَ يَقْبَلُ التَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَأْخُذُوا
charities and that Allah (SWT), He is the Acceptor of repentance, Most-Merciful | 104 | الصَّدَقَاتِ وَأَنَّ اللهَ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ |
and say, “Do! then Allah (SWT) will see your deeds and His Messenger and the believers | وَقُلِ اعْمَلُوا فَسَيَرَى اللهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُوْلُهُ وَالمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
and you will be brought back to the Knower of the unseen and seen | وَسَتُرَدُّوْنَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ
then He will inform you of what you used to do” | 105 | فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ |
and others are deferred to the commandment of Allah (SWT) whether He punishes them | وَآخَرُوْنَ مُرْجَوْنَ لِأَمْرِ اللهِ إِمَّا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ
or whether He will turn to them (in mercy), and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 106 | وَإِمَّا يَتُوْبُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
and those who take a place of worship for harm and for disbelief and for division | وَالَّذِيْنَ اتَّخَذُوا مَسْجِدًا ضِرَارًا وَكُفْرًا وَتَفْرِيْقًا
between the believers and as a station for whoever warred against Allah (SWT) and His Messenger from before | بَيْنَ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَإِرْصَادًا لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ اللهَ وَرَسُوْلَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ
and surely, they will swear, “not we wish except good” and Allah (SWT) bears witness, surely, they are certainly liars | 107 | وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنْ أَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا الحُسْنَى وَاللهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُوْنَ |
Don’t stand in it ever, certainly a place of worship founded on the righteousness from the first day | لَا تَقُمْ فِيْهِ أَبَدًا لَّمَسْجِدٌ أُسِّسَ عَلَى التَّقْوَى مِنْ أَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ
is more worthy that you stand in it, within it are men who love to purify themselves | أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَقُوْمَ فِيْهِ فِيْهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّوْنَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا
and Allah (SWT) loves the ones who purify themselves | 108 | وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ المُطَّهِّرِيْنَ |
then is one who founded his building on fear of Allah (SWT) and His pleasure | أَفَمَنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَانَهُ عَلَى تَقْوَى مِنَ اللهِ وَرِضْوَانٍ
better or who founded his building on the edge of a cliff about to collapse so, it collapsed with him (in it) | خَيْرٌ أَم مَّنْ أَسَّسَ بُنْيَانَهُ عَلَى شَفَا جُرُفٍ هَارٍ فَانْهَارَ بِهِ
in the fire of Hell and Allah (SWT) does not guide the wrongdoing people | 109 | فِيْ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ |
Their building which they built will not cease to be the cause of doubt in their hearts |
until that they cut their hearts and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 110 | إِلَّآ أَنْ تَقَطَّعَ قُلُوْبُهُمْ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
Surely, Allah (SWT) purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth, in exchange for that for them is | إِنَّ اللهَ اشْتَرَى مِنَ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ
Paradise, they fight in the way of Allah (SWT), so, they kill, and they are killed, a promise upon Him, true | الجَنَّةَ يُقَاتِلُوْنَ فِي سَبِيْلِ اللهِ فَيَقْتُلُوْنَ وَيُقْتَلُوْنَ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا
in the Taurat and the Injeel and the Quran and who is more faithful to His promise than Allah (SWT) | فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالإِنْجِيْلِ وَالقُرْءَانِ وَمَنْ أَوْفَى بِعَهْدِهِ مِنَ اللهِ
so, rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted with it and that, it is the great success | 111 | فَاسْتَبْشِرُوا بِبَيْعِكُمُ الَّذِي بَايَعْتُمْ بِهِ وَذَلِكَ هُوَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ |
The ones who turn in repentance and worship and praise and go out and bow down and prostrate |
and enjoin to the right and forbid from the wrong | الئَامِرُوْنَ بِالمَعْرُوْفِ وَالنَّاهُوْنَ عَنِ المُنْكَرِ
and protect (observe) the limits of Allah (SWT) and give glad tidings to the believers | 112 | وَالحَافِظُوْنَ لِحُدُوْدِ اللهِ وَبَشِّرِ المُؤْمِنِيْنِ |
Not is for the prophet and those who believe to seek forgiveness for the polytheists even though |
they be near of kin from after what has become clear to them that they are the companions of the hellfire | 113 | كَانُوا أُوْلِي قُرْبَى مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الجَهِيْمِ |
and not was the asking of forgiveness of Ebrahim (AS) for his father except over a promise he had promised it | وَمَا كَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ لِأَبِيْهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَآ
to him but when it became clear to him that he was an enemy to Allah (SWT) he disassociated with him | إِيَّاهُ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ أَنَّهُ أَدُوٌّ لِلَّهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُ
indeed, Ebrahim (AS) was certainly compassionate, forbearing | 114 | إِنَّ إِبَرَاهِيْمَ لَأَوَّاهٌ حَلِيْمٌ |
and not is Allah (SWT) that He lets go astray a people after when He guided them | وَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْمًا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَاهُمْ
until He makes clear for them what they should fear, surely, Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing over everything | 115 | حَتَّى يُبَيِّنَ لَهُم مَّا يَتَّقُوْنَ إِنَّ اللهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمٌ |
Verily, Allah (SWT), belongs to Him the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, He gives life and causes death |
and not for you from other than Allah (SWT) an ally (protector-guardian) nor a helper | 116 | وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُوْنِ اللهِ مِن وَلِيٍ وَلَا نَصِيْرٍ |
Verily, Allah (SWT) turned in mercy to the prophet and the emigrants and the helpers, those who followed him | لَّقَد تَّابَ اللهُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ وَالمُهَاجِرِيْنَ وَالأَنْصَارِ الَّذِيْنَ اتَّبَعُوْهُ
in the hour of difficulty from after what the hearts of a party of them had nearly deviated | فِي سَاعَةِ العُسْرَةِ مِن بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ يَزِيْغُ قُلُوْبُ فَرِيْقٍ مِّنْهُمْ
then He turned to them, indeed, He is to them Most-Kind, Most-Merciful | 117 | ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّهُ بِهِمْ رَءُوْفٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
and on the three, those who were left behind until when the earth straitened for them | وَعَلَى الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِيْنَ خُلِفُوا حَتَّى إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَرْضُ
though it was vast, and their own souls were straitened for them, and they were certain that there is no refuge | بِمَا رَجُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّوا أَنْ لَّا مَلْجَأَ
from Allah (SWT) except to Him then He turned to them that they may repent | مِنَ اللهِ إِلَّآ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوْبُوا
surely, Allah (SWT) He is Oft-Returning (Acceptor of repentance), Most-Merciful | 118 | إِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ |
O you who believe! fear Allah (SWT) and be with the ones who are truthful | 119 |
Not it was for the people of the city and who were around them from the Bedouins to remain behind |
from the Messenger of Allah (SWT) and not they prefer their lives over his life | عَن رَّسُوْلِ اللهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِ
that is because thirst does not afflict them nor fatigue nor hunger | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيْبُهُمْ ظَمَأٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ
in the way of Allah (SWT) and not they step any step that angers the disbelievers | فِيْ سَبِيْلِ اللهِ وَلَا يَطَئُوْنَ مَوْطِئًا يَغِيْظُ الكُفَّارَ
and not they inflict on an enemy an infliction except is recorded for them in it as a righteous deed | وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَّيْلًا إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْ بِهِ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ
surely, Allah (SWT) does not allow to be lost the reward of the good-doers | 120 | إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُضِيْعُ أَجْرَ المُحْسِنِيْنَ |
and not they spend any small spending and not big and not they cross a valley | وَلَا يُنْفِقُوْنَ نَفَقَةً صَغِيْرَةً وَلَا كَبِيْرَةً وَلَا يَقْطَعُوْنَ وَادِيًا
but is recorded for them that Allah (SWT) may reward them the best of what they used to do | 121 | إِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْ لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ اللهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُوْنَ |
and not are the believers that they go forth all together so, if not go forth from every party | وَمَا كَانَ المُؤْمِنُوْنَ لِيَنْفِرُوا كَآفَّةً فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِنْ كُلِّ فِرْقَةٍ
among them, a group, that they may obtain understanding in the religion and that they may warn the people | مِّنْهُمْ طَآئِفَةٌ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّيْنِ وَلِيُنْذِرُوا قَوْمَهُمْ
when they return to them so that they may beware | 122 | إِذَا رَجَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَحْذَرُوْنَ |
O you who believe! fight those who are close to you of the disbelievers |
and let them find in you, harshness and know that Allah (SWT) is with those who fear | 123 | وَلْيَجِدُوا فِيْكُمْ غِلْظَةً وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ مَعَ المُتَّقِيْنَ |
and when a chapter is revealed then among them are some who say, “which of you, this has increased him in faith?”
as for those who believe, it has increased them in faith, and they rejoice | 124 | فَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيْمَانًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُوْنَ |
as for those in whose hearts is a disease it increases them in evil upon their evil | وَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ فِي قُلُوْبِهِم مَّرَضٌ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْسًا إِلَى رِجْسِهِمْ
and they die while they are disbelievers | 125 | وَمَاتُوا وَهُمْ كَافِرُوْنَ |
Do not they see that they are tried in every year once or twice? |
yet not they turn in repentance and not they pay heed | 126 | ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوْبُوْنَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُوْنَ |
and whenever a chapter is revealed some of them look to others | وَإَذَا مَآ أُنْزِلَتْ سُوْرَةٌ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ
“Does anyone see you?” then they turn away, Allah (SWT) has turned away their hearts |
because they are a people, not they understand | 127 | بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُوْنَ |
Certainly, a Messenger has come to you from yourselves, grievous to him is what you suffer |
he is concerned over you, to the believers he is kind and merciful | 128 | حَرِيْصٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالمُؤْمِنِيْنَ رَءُوْفٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
but if they turn away then say. “Sufficient for me is Allah (SWT) there is no God except Him | فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوا فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اللهُ لَا إِلَاهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
On Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the mighty (great) throne | 129 |
