Verse | ||
Alif-Lam-Ra | ا ل ر | |
These are the verses of the clear Book | 1 | تِلْكَ ءَايَاتُ الكِتَابِ المُبِيْنِ |
Verily, We revealed it, an Arabic Quran, so that you may understand | 2 | إِنَّآ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْءَانًَا عَرَبِيٍّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُوْنَ |
We relate to you the best of stories of what We revealed unto you of this Quran | نَحنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيكَ أَحسَنَ القَصَصِ بِمَآ أَوحَينَآ إِلَيكَ هَذَا القُرءَانَ
and before this you were among those who knew nothing about it | 3 | وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبلِهِ لَمِنَ الغَافِلِينَ |
when Yusuf (AS) said to his father, “O my father! verily, I saw eleven stars | إِذ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَآ أَبَتِ إِنِّى رَأَيتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوكَبًا
and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating to me | 4 | وَالشَّمسَ وَالقَمَرَ رَأَيتُهُم لِى سَاجِدِينَ |
he said, “O my son! do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they plot a plan against you | قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَقصُص رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَى إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيدًا
indeed, Satan is to man, an open enemy | 5 | إِنَّ الشَّيطَانَ لِلإِنسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ |
and thus, your Lord will choose you and teach you the interpretation of dreams | وَكَذَلِكَ يَجتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأْوِيلِ الأَحَادِيثِ
and complete His favor on you and on the offspring of Yaqub (AS) as He completed it on your two fathers | وَيُتِمُّ نِعمَتَهُ عَلَيكَ وَعَلَى ءَالِ يَعقُوبَ كَمَآ أَتَمَّهَا عَلَى أَبَوَيكَ
aforetime, Ebrahim (AS) and Ishaq (AS) verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 6 | مِن قَبلُ إِبرَاهِيمَ وَإِسحَاقَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ |
indeed, was in Yusuf (AS) and his brothers, signs for those who ask | 7 | لَقَد كَانَ فِى يُوسُفَ وَإِخوَتِهِ ءَايَاتٌ لِلسَّآئِلِينَ |
when they said, “truly, Yusuf (AS) and his brother are dearer to our father than us, while we are a group | إِذ قَالُوا لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَى أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحنُ عُصبَةٌ
indeed, our father is surely, in clear error | 8 | إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِى ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ |
“Kill Yusuf (AS) or cast him to a land, so the face of your father will be free for you (alone) | اقْتُلُوا يُوسُفَ أَوِ اطْرَحُوهُ أَرضًا يَخْلُ لَكُم وَجْهُ أَبِيكُم
and you will be after that, a righteous people” | 9 | وَتَكُونُوا مِن بَعْدِهِ قَومًا صَالِحِينَ |
a speaker among them said, “do not kill Yusuf (AS), rather throw him in the bottom of the well | قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنهُم لَا تَقتُلُوا يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَابَتِ الجُبِّ
some caravan may pick him up, if you must do something | 10 | يَلتَقِطهُ بَعضُ السَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُم فَاعِلِينَ |
they said, “O our father! why do you not trust us with Yusuf (AS) although we are certainly his well-wishers? | 11 | قَالُوا يَآ أَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَنَّا عَلَى يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَنَاصِحُونَ |
send him with us tomorrow (to) enjoy and play and indeed, we for him, will surely be guardians (protectors) | 12 | أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرتَع وَيَلعَب وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ |
he said, “truly I, it surely saddens me that you should take him, and I fear that a wolf should eat him | قَالَ إِنِّى لَيَحْزُنُنِى أَن تَذْهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ الذِّئْبُ
while you are unaware of him” | 13 | وَأَنتُم عَنهُ غَافِلُونَ |
they said, “surely, if a wolf devours him while we are a group, truly we then are surely losers” | 14 | قَالُوا لَئِن أَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَ |
So, when they went with him having agreed to place him into the unseen distant bottom of the well, | فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا بِهِ وَأَجْمَعُوا أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِي غَيَابَتِ الجُبِّ
We inspired to him “indeed you will inform them of this matter (one day) when they perceive (you) not” | 15 | وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِم هَذَا وَهُم لَا يَشْعُرُونَ |
and they came to their father in the early part of the night, weeping | 16 | وَجَآءُو أَبَاهُمْ عِشَآءً يَبْكُونَ |
They said, “O our father! we went, we were racing, and we left Yusuf (AS) by our belongings | قَالُوا يَآ أَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوْسُفَ عِنْدَ مَتَاعِنَا
and a wolf ate him, and you will not believe us even though we speak the truth | 17 | فَأَكَلَهُ الذِّئْبُ وَمَآ أَنْتَ بِمُؤْمِنٍ لَّنَا وَلَو كُنَّا صَادِقِيْنَ |
so his Lord answered his prayer and protected him from treachery | فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ
indeed, He is All Hearing, All Knowing | 34 | إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ |
O my fellow prisoners are seperate lords better | يَا صَاحِبَيِ السِّجْنِ أَأَرْبَابٌ مُّتَفَرِّقُوْنَ خَيْرٌ
or Allah SWT the One, the Prevailing/Irresistable | 39 | أَمِ اللهُ الوَاحِدُ القَهَّارُ |
the king said, “truly I saw seven fat cows | وَقَالَ المَلِكُ إِنِّي أَرَى سَبْعَ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانٍ
eating them (were) seven lean ones | يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عَجَافٌ
and seven green ears of corn and others withered | وَسَبْعَ سُنْبُلَاتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَاتٍ
O Counsellors, tell me the meaning of my dream” | يَآ أَيُّهَا المَلَأُ أَفْتُوْنِي فِي رُءْيَايَ
if you are able to interpret dreams | 43 | إِنْ كُنْتُم لِلرُّءْيَا تَعْبُرُوْنَ |
the king said, “bring him to me” | وَقَالَ المَلِكُ ائْتُوْنِي بِهِ
but when the messenger came to fetch him (Joseph) he said, “return | فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُ الرَّسُوْلُ قَالَ ارْجِعْ
to your Lord and ask Him what happened to the women who | إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَسْئَلْهُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَةِ الَّتِي
cut their hands, truly my Lord knows well of their plans | 50 | قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ إِنَّ رَبِّي بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيْمٌ |
that he may indeed know that I did not betray him behind his back | ذَلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّى لَم أَخُنْهُ بِالغَيْبِ
and that verily Allah guides not the plan of the betrayers | 52 | وَأَنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِى كَيْدَ الخَآئِنِيْنَ |
Part 13 / Chapter 12 | Chapter 12 / وَمَآ أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِى
and I free not myself, verily the self is inclined to evil | وَمَآ أَبَرِّئُ نَفْسِى إِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوءِ
except when my Lord bestows His Mercy, verily my Lord is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful | 53 | إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّى إِنَّ رَبِّى غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيمٌ |
The king said “bring him to me, I will have him serve me personally | وَقَالَ المَلِكُ ائْتُونِي بِهِ أَسْتَخْلِصْهُ لِنَفْسِي
so then, when he had spoken with him, he said “from today truly you will have our trust and favor” | 54 | فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهُ قَالَ إِنَّكَ اليَوْمَ لَدَيْنَا مَكِيْنٌ أَمِيْنٌ |
he said “no your selfs prompted you to wrong so patience is the best | قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُم أَنْفُسُكُم أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيْلٌ
perhaps Allah SWT will bring them all back to me | عَسَى اللهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِي بِهِم جَمِيْعًا
indeed He, He is the All Knowing, the All Wise | 83 | إِنَّهُ هُوَ العَلِيْمُ الحَكِيْمُ |
and he raised his parents upon the throne and they bowed to him in prostration | وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّواْ لَهُ سُجَّدًا
and he said, “O my father this is the fulfilment of my vision of before | وَقَالَ يَا أَبَتِ هَذَا تَأْوِيْلُ رُءْيَايَ مِن قَبْلُ
indeed my Lord has has made it true and has favored me | قَد جَعَلَهَا رَبِّي حَقًّا وَقَد أَحْسَنَ بِي
when He removed me from the prison and brought you all from the desert | إِذْ أَخْرَجْنِي مِنَ السِّجْنِ وَجَآءَ بِكُم مِّنَ البَدْوِ
after Satan sowed discord between me and my brothers | مِن بَعْدِ أَن نَّزَغَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ إَخْوَتِي
indeed my Lord is Most Subtle towards whom He wishes | إِنَّ رَبِّي لَطَيْفٌ لِّمَا يَشَآءُ
indeed He, He is the All Knowing, the All Wise | 100 | إِنَّهُ هُوَ العَلِيْمُ الحَكِيْمُ |
Indeed, in their stories, is a lesson for men of understanding. | لَقَدْ كَانَ فِى قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِّأُوْلِى الْأَلْبَابِ
it is not a forged statement but a confirmation of what was in their hands | مَا كَانَ حَدِيْثًا يُفْتَرَى وَلَاكِنْ تَصْدِيْقَ الَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ
and an explanation of everything and a guide and a mercy | وَتَفْصِيْلَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً
for a people who believe | 111 | لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ |
