Part 16 / Chapter 20 | Verse | Chapter 20 /
Ta-Ha | 1 | ط ه |
Not We sent down to you the Quran that you be distressed | 2 |
except a reminder for who fears | 3 | إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَى |
4 | ||

7 | ||
Allah SWT, there is no god but He, belonging to Him are the best names | 8 |
9 | ||
so, go to him and say “indeed we are messengers of your Lord so send with us | فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُوْلَآ إِنَّا رَسُوْلَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا
the children of Israel and do not oppress them, we brought you a sign | بَنِي إِسْرَآءِيْلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ قَدْ جِئْنَاكَ بِئَايَةٍ
from your Lord and peace be upon who follows the guidance | 47 | مِّن رَّبِّكَ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَى مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الهُدَى |
he said, ‘your appointment is on the day of the festival | قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّيْنَةِ
so that the people may assemble at forenoon’ | 59 | وَأَن يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًا |
So gather your plan then come in ranks |
and indeed he has succeeded today who overcomes | 64 | وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْيَوْمَ مَنِ اسْتَعْلَى |
and verily, We inspired to Musa (AS) that “travel by night with My slaves and strike for them a path in the sea | وَلَقَد أَوْحَينَآ إِلَى مُوسَى أَن أَسْرِ بِإِبَادِى فَاضْرِب لَهُم طَرِيْقًا فِى البَحْرِ
dry, not fearing to be overtaken and not being afraid” | 77 | يَبَسًا لَّا تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَى |
then Firaun followed them with his forces but covered them from the sea what covered them | 78 | فَأَتْبَعَهُم فِرْعَونُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَخَشِيَهُم مِّنَ اليَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُم |
and Firaun led astray his people and did not guide them | 79 | وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ وَمَا هَدَى |
O children of Israel! verily, We delivered you from your enemy and We made a covenant with you | يَا بَنِى إِسْرَآئِيْلَ قَد أَنْجَيْنَاكُم مِّن عَدُوِّكُم وَوَاعَدنَاكُم
on the right side of the mount and We sent down to you the sweet gum and the quails | 80 | جَانِبَ الطُّورِ الأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلنَا عَلَيكُم المَنَّ وَالسَّلوَى |
Eat of the good things which We have provided you and do not transgress therein lest descend upon you | كُلُوا مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُم وَلَا تَطْغَوا فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُم
My anger and who My anger descends upon him indeed, he (has) perished | 81 |
but indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes | وَإِنِّى لَغَفَّارٌ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ
and does righteous deeds then remains guided | 82 | وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى |
“And what made you hasten from your people O Musa (AS)?”
He said, “they are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You my Lord, that You be Pleased” | 84 |
He (SWT) said, “but indeed, We certainly tried your people after you and the Samiri has led them astray” | 85 |
Then Musa (AS) returned to his people, angry, sorrowful, he said, “O my people! did not your Lord promise you | فَرَجَعَ مُوْسَى إِلَى قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَ لَم يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ
a good promise? then did the promise seem long for you or did you desire that descend upon you | وَعْدًا حَسَنًا أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ العَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدتُّمْ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ
the anger from your Lord so you broke your promise to me | 86 | غَضَبٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم مَّوْعِدِى |
They said, “not we broke the promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from ornaments | قَالُوا مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَاكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ أَوْزَارًا مِّن زِيْنَةِ
of the people so we threw them and thus the Samiri threw” | 87 | القَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَالِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ |
Then he took out for them a calf image, it had a lowing sound and they said, “this is your god | فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَّهُ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا هَذَآ إِلَاهُكُمْ
and the god of Musa (AS) but he forgot” | 88 | وَإِلَاهُ مُوْسَى فَنَسَيَ |
Then did they not see that not it could return to them a word and not possess for them any harm nor benefit?
and verily Harun (AS) said to them from before, “O my people! only you are being tested by it | وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَرُوْنُ مِنْ قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهِ
and indeed, your Lord is the Most Gracious so follow me and obey my order” | 90 | وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَانُ فَاتَّبِعُوْنِى وَأَطِيْعُوا أَمْرِى |
They said, “not we will cease being devoted to it until Musa (AS) returns to us” | 91 | قَالُوا لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِيْنَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوْسَى |
He said, “O Harun (AS)! what prevented you when you saw them going astray? | 92 | قَالَ يَا هَارُوْنُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا |
That not you follow me? then, have you disobeyed my order?” | 93 |
He said, “O son of my mother! do not seize me by my beard nor my head indeed, I feared that you would say, | قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِى وَلَا بِرَأْسِى إِنِّى خَشِيْتُ أَنْ تَقُوْلَ
“You caused division between the children of Israel and not you respect my word” | 94 |
He (Musa AS) said, “and what say you O Samiri?” | 95 |
He said, “I perceived what not they perceive in it, so I took a handful from the track of the messenger | قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَم يَبْصُرُوا بِهِ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِّنْ أَثَرِ الرَّسُوْلِ
then I threw it and thus my soul (inner self) suggested to me | 96 | فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَالِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِى نَفْسِى |
He (Musa AS) said, “then go and indeed, for you in the life that you will say, “do not touch” | قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِى الحَيَاةِ أَن تَقُوْلَ لَا مِسَاسَ
and indeed, for you an appointment not you will fail it and look at your god which you remained devoted to it | وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَّن تُخْلَفَهُ وَانْظُرْ إِلَى إِلَاهِكَ الَّذِى ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا
surely, we will burn it then certainly, we will scatter it in the sea (in) particles” | 97 | لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنْسِفَنَّهُ فِى اليَمِّ نَسْفًا |
Only your God is Allah (SWT) the One Who there is no God but He | إِنَّمَآ إِلَاهُكُمُ اللهُ الَّذِى لَآ إِلَاهَ إِلَّا هُوَ
He has encompassed all things in knowledge | 98 |
109 | ||
110 | ||
and faces shall be humbled before the Ever Living, the Eternal | وَعَنَتِ الوُجُوْهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّوْمِ
and indeed who carries injustice will fail | 111 | وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا |
112 | ||
113 | ||
Exalted be Allah SWT, the One who is truly in control, do not rush with the Quran |
before the revelation is fully complete | مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَى إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ
and say “Lord increase me in knowledge” | 114 | وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلَمًا |
and indeed you will not be thirsty therein nor suffer the sun’s heat | 119 | وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَؤُا فِيْهَا وَلَا تَضْحَى |
134 | ||
say, “all are waiting, so you wait too | قُلْ كُلٌّ مُّتَرَبِّصٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا
and soon you shall know who the companions of the straight and even path are, and who are guided | 135 | فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ مَنْ أَصْحَابُ الصِّرَاطِ السَّوِيِّ وَمَنِ اهْتَدَى |
