Chapter 75 of the holy Quran with full Arabic text and English translation (Surah Al-Qiyamah – سُوْرَةُ القِيَامَةِ – The Resurrection)
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful
Part 29 / Chapter 75 | Chapter 75 /
Nay! I swear by the day of Resurrection | 1 |
and nay! I swear by the self-reproaching soul | 2 | وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ |
Does man think that not We will assemble his bones? | 3 |
of course, We have the power to restore his fingertips | 4 | بَلَى قَادِرِيٍْنَ عَلَى أَنْ نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ |
nay man wants to gush forth what is in front of him (wants this life) | 5 | بَلْ يُرِيْدُ الإِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ |
he asks, “When is the day of Resurrection?”
so, when the vision is dazzled | 7 | فَإِذَا بَرِقَ البَصَرُ |
and the moon is caused to be swallowed (eclipsed) | 8 | وَخَسَفَ القَمَرُ |
and the sun and the moon are gathered | 9 | وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالقَمَرُ |
man will say that day, “where to flee?”
nay! there is no one to bear the burden (refuge) | 11 | كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ |
to your Lord, that day is the comfort (place of rest) | 12 | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المُسْتَقَرُّ |
man will be informed that day of what he sent forth and kept back | 13 | يُنَبَّؤُا الإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ |
nay man will be a witness against himself | 14 | بَلِ الإِنْسَانُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بَصِيْرَةٌ |
even though he offers his excuses | 15 | وَلَوْ أَلْقَى مَعَاذِيْرَهُ |
Move not your tongue with it to make haste with it | 16 | لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ |
truly upon Us is its collection and recitation | 17 | إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْءَانَهُ |
so, when We have recited it, then follow its recitation | 18 | فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُ |
then truly it is upon Us to make it clear | 19 | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ |
nay! but you love hastening (this world) | 20 | كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّوْنَ العَاجِلَةَ |
and leave (neglect) the hereafter | 21 | وَتَذَرُوْنَ الآخِرَةَ |
faces that day will be radiant | 22 | وُجُوْهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ |
to its Lord, looking | 23 | إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ |
faces that day will be frowning | 24 | وَوُجُوْهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ |
expecting to be done to it impoverishing (ruining-calamitous-catastrophic) | 25 | تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ |
nay! when it reaches the trachea (windpipe) | 26 | كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ |
and it will be said: “Who will cure?”
and he thought that it is the parting | 28 | وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الفِرَاقُ |
and the leg is wound to the leg (shrouded) | 29 | وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ |
to your Lord that day, the drive | 30 | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ المَسَاقُ |
as not did he accept the truth, nor he prayed | 31 | فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّى |
instead, he denied and turned away | 32 | وَلَاكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
then he went to his family, arrogantly | 33 | ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّى |
woe! to you, again woe!
then woe! to you, again woe!
does man think that he will be left neglected | 36 | أَيَحْسَبُ الإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًى |
was he not a sperm drop from semen emitted?
then he became a clinging substance, then He created, and He proportioned | 38 | ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّى |
then He made from him the two spouses, the male and the female | 39 | فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنْثَى |
Does He who can do that, not have the power to give life to the dead? | 40 |
