Chapter 76
Chapter 76 of the holy Quran with full Arabic text and English translation (Surah Al-Insan or Surah Ad-Dahr – سُوْرَةُ الإِنْسَانِ – Man or Time)
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
| Part 29 / Chapter 76 | Chapter 76 / تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ المُلْكُ | |
| Has there come upon man a period of time | هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الإِنْسَانِ حِيْنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ | |
| that he was not a thing mentioned? | 1 | لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْعًا مَّذْكُوْرًا |
| Indeed, We created man from a mixture of semen drop | إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الإِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ | |
| that We may try him, so We made him hearing, and seeing | 2 | نَبْتَلِيْهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيْعًا بَصِيْرًا |
| Indeed, We guided him to the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful | 3 | إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيْلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُوْرًا |
| Verily We have prepared for the disbeliever’s chains and shackles and a blaze | 4 | إِنَّآ أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِيْنَ سَلَاسِلَا وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيْرًا |
| Verily, the righteous will drink from a cup, its mixture will be from Kafur | 5 | إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُوْنَ مِنْ كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوْرًا |
| a spring, the slaves of Allah (SWT) will drink from it, they will cause it to gush a gushing | 6 | عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللهِ يُفَجِّرُوْنَهَا تَفْجِيْرًا |
| they fulfil the vow, and they fear a day, its evil will be widespread | 7 | يُوْفُوْنَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُوْنَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيْرًا |
| and they feed the food out of love for Him to needy and orphan and captives | 8 | وَيُطْعِمُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِيْنًا وَيَتِيْمًا أَسِيْرًا |
| “Only we feed you seeking Allah (SWT’s) pleasure, not we wish from you a reward | إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللهِ لَا نُرِيْدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَآءً | |
| nor thanks” | 9 | وَلَا شُكُوْرًا |
| “Truly we fear from our Lord a frowning, distressful day” | 10 | إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنْ رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوْسًا قَمْطَرِيْرًا |
| so, Allah (SWT) will protect them from the evil of that day and cause them | فَوَقَاهُمُ اللهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ اليَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ | |
| to receive radiance and pleasure | 11 | نَضْرَةً وَسُرُوْرًا |
| and He will reward them for their patience, a garden and silk | 12 | وَجَزَاهُمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيْرًا |
| reclining in it on couches | مُتَّكِئِيْنَ فِيْهَا عَلَى الأَرَآئِكِ | |
| not will they see in it a sun and not cold | 13 | لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيْهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيْرًا |
| and near to them, its shades | وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا | |
| humbled will be its clusters of fruit, submissive (offering themselves up) | 14 | وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوْفُهَا تَذْلِيْلًا |
| vessels of silver will be passed around among them | وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِئَانِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ | |
| and cups that are clear | 15 | وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيْرَاْ |
| clear, from silver, they will determine its measure | 16 | قَوَارِيْرَاْ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيْرًا |
| and they will be given to drink from it a cup, its mixture ginger | 17 | وَيُسْقُوْنَ فِيْهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَبِيْلًا |
| a spring in it called Salsabil | 18 | عَيْنًا فِيْهَا تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيْلًا |
| circulating among them boys, immortal | وَيَطُوْفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُوْنَ | |
| when you see them, you would think them scattered pearls | 19 | إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنْثُوْرًا |
| and when you look then you will see a blessing (delight) | وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيْمًا | |
| and a great kingdom | 20 | وَمُلْكًا كَبِيْرًا |
| upon them green garments of fine silk and brocade | عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُنْدُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ | |
| and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver | وَحُلُّوا أَسَاوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ | |
| and their Lord will give them to drink a purifying drink | 21 | وَسَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُوْرًا |
| Truly this was a reward for you and was an appreciation for your efforts | 22 | إِنَّ هَذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُمْ مَّشْكُوْرًا |
| Truly We, We, We sent down to you the Quran, a revelation | 23 | إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ القُرْءَانَ تَنْزِيْلًا |
| so be patient with the judgement (wisdom) of your Lord | فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ | |
| and don’t obey among them one who sins or is ungrateful | 24 | وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِمًا أَوْ كَفُوْرًا |
| remember the name of your Lord morning and evening | 25 | وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيْلًا |
| and during the night prostrate yourself to Him | وَمِنَ الَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ | |
| and glorify Him a long night | 26 | وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيْلًا |
| indeed, these love the immediate | إِنَّ هَآؤُلآءِ يُحِبُّوْنَ العَاجِلَةَ | |
| and leave behind them a heavy day | 27 | وَيَذَرُوْنَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيْلًا |
| We created them and We strengthened their reliance (captivated) | نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ أَسْرَهُمْ | |
| and when We Will, We will exchange their like with an exchanging | 28 | وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيْلًا |
| Truly this is a reminder | إِنَّ هَذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ | |
| so, whoever wishes, let him take a path to his Lord | 29 | فَمَنْ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ سَبِيْلًا |
| and not can you wish except if Allah (SWT) Wishes | وَمَا تَشَآءُوْنَ إِلَّآ أَنْ يَشَآءَ اللهُ | |
| truly Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing, All-Wise | 30 | إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ عَلِيْمًا حَكِيْمًا |
| He will admit to His Mercy whomever He Wishes | يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَآءُ فِيْ رَحْمَتِهِ | |
| and the wrongdoers, He has prepared for them a severe punishment | 31 | وَالظَّالِمِيْنَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيْمًا |
