Chapter 83
Chapter 83 of the holy Quran with full Arabic text and English translation (Surah Al-Mutaffifin – سُوْرَةُ المُطَفِّفِيْنَ – Those who deal in fraud)
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
| Part 30 / Chapter 83 | Chapter 83 / عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوْنَ | |
| Woe to those who deal in fraud | 1 | وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِيْنَ |
| those who, when they take a measure from the people, they take in full | 2 | الَّذِيْنَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُوْنَ |
| however, when they give a measure to them or weight to them, they give less (reduce) | 3 | وَإِذَا كَالُوْهُمْ أَوْ وَّزَنُوْهُمْ يُخْسِرُوْنَ |
| Do those not think that they will be resurrected | 4 | أَلَا يَظُنُّ أَوْلَآئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوْثُوْنَ |
| to a Mighty day | 5 | لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيْمٍ |
| a day man will stand before the Lord of Creation | 6 | يَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ العَالَمِيْنَ |
| Nay! truly the book of the wicked is in Sijjin (a book written) | 7 | كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّيْنٍ |
| and what will make you know what is Sijjin | 8 | وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّيْنٌ |
| a book written (a fate sealed) | 9 | كِتَابٌ مَرْقُوْمٌ |
| Woe that day to the deniers | 10 | وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ |
| those who deny the day of judgement | 11 | الَّذِيْنَ يُكَذِّبُوْنَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ |
| and none deny it except every sinful transgressor | 12 | وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيْمٍ |
| when our signs are recited to him, | إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ ءَايَاتُنَا | |
| he says “stories of the past people” | 13 | قَالَ أَسَاتِيْرُ الأَوَّلِيْنَ |
| Nay! but what they were earning has covered (stained) over their hearts | 14 | كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَّا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُوْنَ |
| Nay! truly they will be veiled from their Lord, that day | 15 | كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوْبُوْنَ |
| Then, verily they will indeed burn in hell | 16 | ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الجَحِيْمِ |
| then it will be said “this is what you used to deny” | 17 | ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ |
| Nay! truly, the book of the righteous is in Illiyin | 18 | كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّيْنَ |
| and what will make you know what is Illiyun? | 19 | وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّوْنَ |
| a book written (a fate sealed) | 20 | كِتَابٌ مَّرْقُوْمٌ |
| witnessing it are the near ones | 21 | يَشْهَدُهُ المُقَرَّبُوْنَ |
| Truly the righteous will certainly be in bliss | 22 | إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيْمٍ |
| on thrones looking | 23 | عَلَى الأَرَآئِكِ يَنْظُرُوْنَ |
| you will recognize on their faces the glow of delight | 24 | تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوْهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيْمِ |
| They will be given to drink from a wine, sealed | 25 | يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَّحِيْقٍ مَّخْتُوْمٍ |
| Its lingering flavor will be of musk | خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ | |
| so, in that then, let the aspirers aspire | 26 | وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ المُتَنَافِسُوْنَ |
| and its mixture from tasnim | 27 | وَمِزَاجُهُ مِنْ تَسْنِيْمٍ |
| a spring where from the ones nearest will drink | 28 | عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا المُقَرَّبُوْنَ |
| Verily, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed | 29 | إِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا يَضْحَكُوْنَ |
| and whenever they passed by them, they used to wink at each other (mockingly) | 30 | وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُوْنَ |
| and when they returned to their people, they returned jesting | 31 | وَإِذَا انْقَلِبُوْا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلِبُوْا فَاكِهِيْنَ |
| and when they saw them, they said; | وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوْا | |
| “Verily these have indeed gone astray” | 32 | إِنَّ هَآؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّوْنَ |
| however, not have they been sent over them as guardians | 33 | وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِيْنَ |
| so, that day, those who believed will laugh at the disbelievers | 34 | فَاليَوْمَ الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا مِنَ الكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُوْنَ |
| on thrones looking | 35 | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُوْنَ |
| “Have the disbelievers been recompensed for what they used to do?” | 36 | هَلْ ثُوِبَ الكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُوْنَ |
