Prophetic sayings regarding eating and drinking are mentioned below
| In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful | بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ |
| It was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) that he heard the Prophet (SAW) say, “If a man enters | عَنْ جَابِرِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ يَقُوْلُ إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ |
| his house and mentions Allah (SAW) Glorified and Exalted is He, when he enters and when he eats, Shaitan says, | بَيْتَهُ فَذَكَرَ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عِنْدَ دُخُوْلِهِ وَعِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ |
| ‘You have no place to stay and no dinner’ but if he enters and does not mention Allah (SWT) when he enters, | لَا مَبِيْتَ لَكُمْ وَلَا عَشَآءَ وَإِذَا فَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُوْلِهِ |
| the Shaitan says, ‘You have found a place to stay’ and if he does not mention Allah (SWT) when he eats, | قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ أَدْرَكْتُمُ المَبِيْتَ وَإِذَا لَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ |
| he says, ‘You have found a place to stay and dinner'” | قَالَ أَدْرَكْتُمُ المَبِيْتَ وَالْعَشَآءَ |

Mention Allah (SWT) when you enter your house and when you eat

| It was narrated from Abu Bakr bin Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Umar (RA) from his grandfather Ibn Umar (RA) that the | عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ جَدِّهِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ |
| Messenger of Allah (SWT) said, “When one of you eats, let him eat with his right hand and when he drinks, | رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ قَالَ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَأْكُلْ بِيَمِيْنِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ |
| let him drink with his right hand, for the Shaitan eats with his left hand and drinks with his left hand” | فَلْيَشْرَبْ بِيَمِيْنِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَأْكُلُ بِشِمَالِهِ وَيَشْرَبُ بِشِمَالِهِ |

Eat and drink with your right hand
| In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful | بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ |
| It was narrated that Umar bin Abi Salamah (RA) said, “one day I ate with the Messenger of Allah (SWT) and I | عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَكَلْتُ يَوْمًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ |
| and I started to take meat from all around the plate. The Messenger of Allah (SWT) said, | فَجَعَلْتُ آخُذُ مِنْ لَحْمِ حَوْلَ الصَّحْفَةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ |
| ‘Eat from what is nearest to you'” | كُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيْكَ |

Eat from what is closest to you

| It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed (RA) said, “The Prophet (SAW) forbade | عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيْدٍ قَالَ نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ |
| turning waterskins upside down and drinking from their mouths” | عَنِ اخْتِنَاثِ الأَسْقِيَةِ |

| Abu Hurairah (RA) said, “The Messenger of Allah (SWT) said, “No one among you should drink | أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُوْلُ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ لَا يَشْرَبَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ |
| while standing whoever forgets, let him make himself vomit” | قَآئِمًا فَمَنْ نَسِيَ فَلْيَسْتَقِيءُ |

Prophet (SAW) forbade drinking while standing
| In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful | بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ |
| It was narrated that Ibn Abbas (RA) said, “I gave the Messenger of Allah (SWT) zamzam water to drink | عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسِ قَالَ سَقَيْتُ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ مِنْ زَمْزَمَ |
| and he drank it while standing” | فَشَرِبَ وَهُوَ قَآئِمٌ |

Drinking Zamzam water while standing
| In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful | بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ |
| It was narrated that Anas (RA) said, “The Messenger of Allah (SWT) used to breathe three times when drinking | عَنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُوْلَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ يَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الشَّرَابِ ثَلَاثًا |
| and he would say, ‘It is more thirst quenching, healthier and more wholesome'” | وَيَقُولُ إِنَّهُ أَروَى وَأَبْرَأُ وَأَمرَأُ |
| Anas (RA) said, “and I breathe three times during the drink” | قَالَ أَنَسٌ وَأَنَاْ أَتَنَفَّسُ فِي الشَّرَابِ ثَلَاثًا |
