In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Mercifulبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) said “When the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said takbir in the prayerعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ إِذَا كَبَّرَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ
he would remain silent for a short while before he started to recite. I said, ‘O Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT)سَكَتَ هُنَيَّةً قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
may my father and mother be sacrificed for you. I have seen that you are silent between the takbir and recitationبِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي أَرَأَيْتَ سُكُوْتَكَ بَيْنَ التَّكْبِيْرِ وَالقِرَآءَةِ
What do you say?’ He said, ‘I say, ‘O Allah (SWT) distance me from my sins just as you have distancedمَا تَقُوْلُ قَالَ أَقُوْلُ اللَّاهُمَّ بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ
the east from the west. O Allah (SWT) cleanse me of my sins as a white garment is cleansed of filth.بَيْنَ المَشْرِقِ وَالمَغْرِبِ اللَّاهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ
O Allah (SWT) wash my sins from me with snow, water and hail'”اللَّاهُمَّ اغْسِلْنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ بِالثَّلْجِ وَالمَآءِ وَالبَرَدِ

What is to be said between the opening takbir and the recitation of the Quran

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Mercifulبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Bakr that he said to the Messenger of Allah (SWT) “Teach meعَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِرَسُوْلِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ عَلَّمَنِي
a supplication that I may say during my prayer” He said, “Say, O Allah (SWT) truly I wrongedدُعَآءً أَدْعُو بِهِ فِي صَلَاتِي قَالَ قُلْ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ
my self, with a great wronging and no one forgives sins except Youنَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَبِيْرًا : وَقَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ : كَثِيْرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
so, grant me forgiveness from You and have mercy on meفَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِّنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي
indeed, you are the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful”إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) said, “the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, ‘When any one of you saysحَدَّثَنَا عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُمْ
the tashah-hud let him seek refuge with Allah (SWT) from four things, let him say (O Allah SWT I seek refugeفَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللهِ مِنْ أَرْبَعِ يَقُوْلُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوْذُ
with You from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave, from the trials of life and deathبِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ وَمِنْ عَذَابِ القَبْرِ وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ المَحْيَا وَالمَمَاتِ
and from the evil of the tribulation of the dajjalوَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ المَسِيْحِ الدَّجَّالِ

What is to be said after the tashah-hud

The vastness of Allah (SWT’s) mercy which prevails over His Wrathبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Abu Hurairah (RA) said,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
“I heard the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) say, ‘Allah (SWT) made mercy in one hundred parts and He kept ninety-nine
parts with Him, and He sent one part down to earth, from which all creatures show compassion to one another, and animals
even lift their hooves lest they harm their young'”

The disbelieversبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Abu Musa (RA) said,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
“The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, ‘no one is more patient in bearing offensive things that he heard than Allah (SWT) 
Glorified and Exalted is He, others are associated with Him, a son is attributed to Him, but He still grants them health and
provision'”

The believer is like a plant and the hypocrite, and the disbeliever are like a cedarبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) said,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
“The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, ‘the likeness of a believer is that of a plant which the wind continually causes to sway 
and the believer continues to be stricken with calamity. The likeness of the hypocrite is that of a cedar tree which does not move 
until it is cut down'”

“The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, ‘the likeness of the believer is that of a fresh tender plant which is bent by the wind 
the wind bends it flat sometimes and pushes it upright sometimes, until his appointed time comes and 
the likeness of the disbeliever is that of a stiff cedar, not shaken by anything until it is uprooted in one go'”

No one will enter Paradise by virtue of his deeds, rather by the Mercy of Allah (SWT) Exalted is Heبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
“None of you will enter Paradise by virtue of his deeds” a man said, “not even you O Messenger of Allah (SWT)?”
He said, “Not even me, unless Allah (SWT) encompasses me with His Mercy, but aim to do good”

Doing a lot of good deeds and striving hard in worshipبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Al Mughirah bin Shu’bah (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) prayed until his feet became swollen and قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
it was said to him, “why do you burden yourself when Allah (SWT) has forgiven your past and future sins?”
He said, “should I not be a thankful slave?”

The description of Paradiseبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Anas bin Malik (RA) said,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
“The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said ‘Paradise is surrounded with hardships and Hell is surrounded with desires'”

2) حَ

The description of Paradiseبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said, “Allah (SWT) Glorified and Exalted is He said, ‘I haveقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
prepared for My righteous slaves that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor has it ever crossed the mind of man'”
This is confirmed in the book of Allah (SWT), “No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they
used to do”

The command to think positively of Allah (SWT) at the time of deathبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Jabir (RA) said, “I heard the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) say three days before he died, ‘None of youقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
should die except thinking positively of Allah (SWT)'”

Your wealthبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Muttarrif (RA) that his father said, “I came to the Prophet (SAW) when he was reciting “the mutual rivalry (forقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
piling up of worldly things) diverts you” and he said, ‘the son of Adam says, “my wealth, my wealth” He said, ‘O son of Adam, do you
have anything of your wealth but that which you consume and use up, or you wear and it wears out, or you give it in charity and send
it forward?'”

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, “If one of you looks at someone who has been قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
given more wealth and physical beauty than he has, let him look at one who has been given less”

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) said, “the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, ‘look at the one who is at a lower level than قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
you, and do not look at the one who is above you, for that may keep you from scorning the blessing of Allah (SWT)”

It was narrated that Aishah (RA) said, “the family of Muhammad (SAW) never ate their fill of wheat bread for two days قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
but on one of them they only had dates”

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
Abu Abdur-Rahman Al-Hubuli (RA) said, “I heard Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As when a man asked him, ‘are we not among the poor of قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
Muhajirin?’ Abdullah (RA) said to him, ‘do you not have a wife with whom you find comfort?’ he said, ‘yes’ he said, ‘do you not have a
house in which you live?’ he said, ‘yes’ he said, ‘then you are among the rich (independent of means)’ he said, ‘I have a servant’ 
he said, ‘then you are among the kings'”

The virtue of treating widows, the poor and orphans kindlyبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (SAW) said, “the one who strives to help widows and the poor is like the one قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
who strives in Jihad in the cause of Allah (SWT)” and I think he said, “like the one who prays at night without ceasing and the one
who fasts without breaking his fast”

The prohibition against disclosing one’s own sinsبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
The nephew of Ibn Shihab narrated that his paternal uncle said, Salim said, I heard Abu Hurairah say, “I heard the Messenger (SAW)قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
of Allah (SWT) say, “all of my ummah will be fine except those who commit sin openly, and it is part of committing sin openly for a
man, to do something at night, then in the morning when his Lord has concealed him, he says, ” O so and so, I did such and such
last night” when his Lord had concealed him all night, but in the morning, he discloses that which Allah (SWT) had concealed for him'”

Saying, “May Allah (SWT) have Mercy on you” to one who sneezes, and yawning is dislikedبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Anas bin Malik (RA) said, Salim said, “two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet (SAW) and he said, “Yaقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
Arhamuk Allah” to one of them, and not to the other. The one to whom he did not say it said, “so and so sneezed and you said,
“Yarhamuk Allah” to him, but you did not say it to me” He said, “He praised Allah (said Alhamdu Lillah) but you did not praise Allah
(SWT)'”

Saying, “May Allah (SWT) have Mercy on you” to one who sneezes, and yawning is dislikedبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, “Yawning comes from the Satan, so if oneقَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
of you feels the urge to yawn, let him suppress it as much as he can”

The believer’s affair is all goodبِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
It was narrated that Suhaib (RA) said, “The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, “How wonderful is the case of the believer,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
for all his affairs are good. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him, if something bad
happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him. This does not apply to anyone but the believer'”

It was narrated that Suhaib (RA) said, “The Messenger (SAW) of Allah (SWT) said, “How wonderful is the case of the believer,قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُ
for all his affairs are good. If something good happens to him, he is thankful for it and that is good for him, if something bad
happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him. This does not apply to anyone but the believer'”
