Part 6 / Chapter 5 | Verse | Chapter 5 /
O you who believe! Fulfil the contracts |
Lawful for you is the cattle (four-legged grazing livestock) except what is recited to you | أُحِلَّتْ لَكُمْ بَهِيْمَةُ الأَنْعَامِ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ
Not being permitted is hunting while you are in Ihram, Truly Allah (SWT) decrees (judges) what He wishes | 1 |
O you who believe! Don’t you make lawful the symbols of Allah (SWT) nor the sacred month |
nor the sacrificial animal nor the garlanded nor coming to the sacred house | وَلَا الهَدْيَ وَلَا القَلَآئِدَ وَلَا ءَآمِّيْنَ البَيْتَ الحَرَامَ
seeking bounty from their Lord and good pleasure | يَبْتَغُوْنَ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَانًا
and when you (descend) are lawful then hunt and don’t let hatred of a people incite you | وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَاصْطَادُوا وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَئَانُ قَوْمٍ
as they stopped you from the sacred mosque that you transgress and help each other | أَنْ صَدُّوْكُمْ عَنِ المَسْجِدِ الحَرَامِ أَنْ تَعْتَدُوا وَتَعَاوَنُوا
to righteousness and piety but don’t help each other to sin and transgression | عَلَى البِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالعُدْوَانِ
and fear Allah (SWT) indeed, Allah (SWT) is severe in penalty | 2 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ إِنَّ اللهَ شَدِيْدُ العِقَابِ |
Forbidden to you, the dead and blood and flesh of the swine and what was dedicated to other than Allah (SWT) | حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ المَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الخِنْزِيْرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ اللهِ
and one strangled to death and one hit to death and one falling to death and one gored by horns | بِهِ وَالمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَالمَوْقُوْذَةُ وَالمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَالنَّطِيْحَةُ
and what the wild animal ate except what you slaughtered and what is sacrificed on the altars | وَمَآ أَكَلَ السَّبُحُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ
and that you seek division by divining arrows, that is defiant disobedience | وَأَنْ تَسْتَقْسِمُوا بِالأَزْلَامِ ذَلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ
This day those who disbelieved of your religion despaired so, don’t fear them but fear Me | اليَوْمَ يَئِسَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ دِيْنِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَاخْشَوْنِ
This day I perfected your religion and I have completed upon you My favor |
and I am pleased for you, Islam as a religion but whoever is forced by hunger | وَرَضِيْتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلَامَ دِيْنًا فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِي مُخْمَصَةٍ
not inclining to sin then truly Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 3 | غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ فَإِنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
They ask you what is made lawful for them Say, “Lawful for you the good | يَسْئَلُوْنَكَ مَاذَآ أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ
and what you have taught of trained hunting animals, you teach them of what Allah (SWT) taught you | وَمَا عَلَّمْتُمْ مِّنَ الجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِيْنَ تُعْلِمُوْنَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللهُ
then eat from what they catch for you and mention the name of Allah (SWT) on it | فَكُلُوا مِمَّآ أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ
and fear Allah (SWT), Indeed, Allah (SWT) is swift in Accounting | 4 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ إِنَّ اللهَ سَرِيْعُ الحِسَابِ |
This day the good things are made lawful for you and the food of those who were given the book is lawful for you | اليَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ وَطَعَامُ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ
and your food is lawful for them and the chaste women from the believers | وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ وَالمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ المُؤْمِنَاتِ
and the chaste women from those who were given the book from before you | وَالمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ
when you give them, their dowry being chaste, not being lewd | إِذَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُوْرَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِيْنَ غَيْرَ مُسَافِحِيْنَ
and don’t take secret lovers and who denies the faith then certainly his deeds became worthless | وَلَا مُتَّخِذِي أَخْدَانٍ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِالإِيْمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُ
and he is in the hereafter from the losers | 5 | وَهُوَ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنَ الخَاسِرِيْنَ |
O you who believe! when you stand up for the prayer then wash your faces |
and your hands till the elbows and wipe your heads and your feet till the ankles | وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى المَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُوا بِرُءُوْسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الكَعْبَيْنِ
but if you are impure then purify yourselves and if you are ill or on a journey | وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوا وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَّرْضَى أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ
or anyone among you came from the toilet or you touched women and you don’t find water | أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنْكُمْ مِّنَ الغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَامَسْتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا مَآءًا
then take clean earth and wipe your faces and your hands with it | فَتَيَمَّمُوا صَعِيْدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُوا بِوُجُوْهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيْكُمْ مِّنْهُ
Allah (SWT) wishes not to make for you any difficulty but rather He wishes to purify you | مَا يُرِيْدُ اللهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَاكِنْ يُرِيْدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ
and to complete His favor upon you so that you may be grateful | 6 | وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ |
and remember the favor of Allah (SWT) upon you and His covenant which He bound you with it | وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيْثَاقَهُ الَّذِي وَاثَقَكُمْ بِهِ
when you said, “We heard and we obeyed” and fear Allah (SWT) | إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ
indeed, Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing of what is in the breasts | 7 | إِنَّ اللهَ عَلِيْمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ |
O you who believe! Be steadfast for Allah (SWT) witnesses for justice |
and let not hatred of a people incite you so upon that not you do justice | وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَئَانُ قَوْمٍ عَلَى أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا
Be just, it is nearer to piety and fear Allah (SWT) |
Indeed, Allah (SWT) is All-Aware of what you do | 8 | إِنَّ اللهَ خَبِيْرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ |
Allah (SWT) promised those who believe and do righteous deeds |
for them is forgiveness and a great reward | 9 | لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيْمٌ |
and those who disbelieve and deny (belie) Our signs, those are the companions of the hellfire | 10 | وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِئَايَاتِنَآ أُوْلَآئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الجَحِيْمِ |
O you who believe! remember the favor of Allah (SWT) upon you | يَآ أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ
when a people determined to stretch towards you their hands but He restrained their hands towards you | إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَنْ يَبْسُطُوا إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنْكُمْ
so, fear Allah (SWT) and upon Allah (SWT) then let the believers put their trust | 11 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ وَعَلَى اللهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ المُؤْمِنُوْنَ |
and indeed, Allah (SWT) took the covenant of the children of Israel and We appointed from them twelve leaders | وَلَقَدْ أَخَذَ اللهُ مِيْثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَآءِيْلَ وَبَعَثْنَا مِنْهُمُ اثْنَى عَشَرَ نَقِيْبًا
and Allah (SWT) said, “Truly I am with you undoubtedly if you establish the prayer and you give the obligatory tax | وَقَالَ اللهُ إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ لَئِنْ أَقَمْتُمُ الصَّلَوةَ وَءَاتَيْتُمُ الزَّكَوةَ
and you believe in My messengers and you honor them and you loan to Allah (SWT) an excellent loan | وَءَامَنْتُمْ بِرُسُلِي وَعَزَّرْتُمُوْهُمْ وَأَقْرَضْتُمُ اللهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا
indeed, I will surely remove from you your evil deeds and certainly I will undoubtedly admit you to gardens | لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ
rivers flow from underneath them | تَجْرِي مِنَ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ
but whoever among you disbelieved after that then certainly he strayed from the equal (straight) of the way | 12 | فَمَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ السَّبِيْلِ |
so, for their breaking of their covenant We cursed them and We made their hearts hard | فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِمْ مِّيْثَقَهُمْ لَعَنَّاهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا قُلُوْبَهُمْ قَاسِيَةً
they distort the words from their places and forgot a part of what they were reminded of it | يُحَرِّفُوْنَ الكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِ وَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ
and not will you cease to discover (look) of treachery from them except a few among them | وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى خَآئِنَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيْلًا مِّنْهُمْ
so, forgive them and overlook, truly Allah (SWT) loves the good doers | 13 | فَاعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَاصْفَحْ إِنَّ اللهَ يُحِبُّ المُحْسِنِيْنَ |
and from those who said, “indeed we are Christians” We took their covenant | وَمِنَ الَّذِيْنَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَى أَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَهُمْ
but they forgot a part of what they were reminded of it | فَنَسُوا حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ
so, We aroused between them enmity and hatred until the day of resurrection | فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ العَدَاوَةَ وَالبَغْضَآعَ إِلَى يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ
and soon Allah (SWT) will inform them of what they do | 14 | وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ اللهُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُوْنَ |
O people of the book! indeed, came to you Our messenger, making clear to you much of what | يَآ أَهْلَ الكِتَابِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُوْلُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيْرًا مِّمَّا
you used to conceal from the book and forgiving (overlooking) of much | كُنْتُمْ تُخْفُوْنَ مِنَ الكِتَابِ وَيَعْفُوا عَنْ كَثِيْرٍ
Indeed, came to you from Allah (SWT) a light and a clear book | 15 |
Allah (SWT) guides by it who seek (follow) His Pleasure to the ways of peace |
and removes them from darkness into the light by His permission | وَيُخْرِجُهُمْ مِّنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّوْرِ بِإِذْنِهِ
and He guides them to a straight path | 16 | وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ |
Certainly, disbelieved those who said, “Truly Allah (SWT), He is the messiah, son of Mariam (RA)” |
Say, “then who has power against Allah (SWT) in anything if He intends to destroy the messiah | قُلْ فَمَنْ يَمْلِكُ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُهْلِكَ المَسِيْحَ
son of Mariam (RA) and his mother and whoever is in the earth, all?
and to Allah (SWT) belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them both | وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا
He creates what He wills, and Allah (SWT) is over everything All-Powerful | 17 |
The Jews and the Christians said, “We are the children of Allah (SWT) and His beloved” |
Say, “Then why He punishes you for your sins?” Nay, you are human beings from among those He created |
He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills and belongs to Allah (SWT) |
the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them both and to Him is the destination | 18 | مُلْكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَإِلَيْهِ المَصِيْرِ |
O people of the book! Verily came to you Our messenger, clarifying for you on a succession |
from the messengers lest you say, “not came to us from a bearer of glad tidings and not a warner” | مِّنَ الرُّسُلِ أَنْ تَقُوْلُوا مَا جَآءَنَا مِن بَشِيْرٍ وَلَا نَذِيْرٍ
but surely, came to you a bearer of glad tidings and a warner and Allah (SWT) is over all things All-Powerful | 19 | قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ بَشِيْرٌ وَنَذِيْرٌ وَاللهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ |
and when Moosa (AS) said to his people, “O my people! remember the favor of Allah (SWT) upon you | وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوْسَى لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ
when He made among you prophets, and He made you kings and He gave you what not He gave to anyone | إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيْكُمْ أَنْبِيَآءَ وَجَعَلَكُمْ مُّلُوْكًا وَءَاتَاكُمْ مَا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًا
from the creation” | 20 | مِّنَ العَالَمِيْنَ |
O my people! enter the holy land which Allah (SWT) ordained for you | يَا قَوْمِ ادْخُلُوا الأَرْضَ المُقَدَّسَةَ الَّتِي كَتَبَ اللهُ لَكُمْ
and don’t turn on your backs for you will turn back losers | 21 | وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا عَلَى أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنْقَلِبُوا خَاسِرِيْنَ |
They said, “O Moosa (AS) indeed, in it are a brutal people so certainly we will not enter it | قَالُوا يَا مُوْسَى إِنَّ فِيْهَا قَوْمًا جَبَّارِيْنَ وَإِنَّا لَنْ نَّدْخُلَهَا
until they leave from it and if they leave from it then certainly, we will enter | 22 | حَتَّى يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَاخِلُوْنَ |
Two men from those who feared said, Allah (SWT) favored both of them | قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ يَخَافُوْنَ أَنْعَمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمَا
“Enter upon them the gate then when you have entered it then truly you be victorious | ادْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِمُ البَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمُوْهُ فَإِنَّكُمْ غَالِبُوْنَ
and on Allah (SWT) then place your trust (rely) if you be believers” | 23 | وَعَلَى اللهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِيْنَ |
They said, “O Moosa (AS) truly we won’t enter it ever as long as they are in it | قَالُوا يَا مُوْسَى إِنَّا لَنْ نَدْخُلَهَا أَبَدًا مَّا دَامُوا فِيْهَا
so go you and your Lord and you both fight truly we are here sitting” | 24 | فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَآ إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُوْنَ |
He said, “O my Lord! truly not I have power except over myself and my brother | قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِي وَأَخِي
so, divide between us and between the defiantly disobedient people” | 25 | فَافْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ القَوْمِ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
He Allah (SWT) said, “Then truly it is forbidden to them for forty years | قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَرْبَعِيْنَ سَنَةً
they will wander in the earth so, don’t grieve over the defiantly disobedient people” | 26 | يَتِيْهُوْنَ فِي الأَرْضِ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى القَوْمِ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
and recite to them the story of the two sons of Adam (AS) in truth | وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ابْنَيْ ءَادَمَ بِالحَقِّ
when both offered a sacrifice, so it was accepted from one of them and not accepted from the other | إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ الآخَرِ
he said, “surely, I will certainly kill you” he said, “only Allah (SWT) accepts from the God-Conscious” | 27 | قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ اللهُ مِنَ المُتَّقِيْنَ |
“Truly if you stretch towards your hand to kill me, not will I stretch my hand towards you to kill you | لَئِنْ بَسَطْتَ إِلَيَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِي مَآ أَنَاْ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِيَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ
truly, I fear Allah (SWT), the Lord of the worlds” | 28 | إِنِّي أَخَافُ اللهَ رَبَّ العَالَمِيْنَ |
“Truly I wish that you be laden with my sin and your sin so you will be from the companions of the fire | إِنِّي أُرِيْدُ أَنْ تَبُوْأَ بِإِثْمِي وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُوْنَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ
and that is the recompense of the wrong doers” | 29 | وَذَلِكَ جَزَآؤُا الظَّالِمِيْنَ |
then prompted to him his soul killing of his brother, so he killed him and became of the losers | 30 | فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ أَخِيْهِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ الخَاسِرِيْنَ |
Then Allah (SWT) sent a crow scratching on the earth |
to show him how to conceal the corpse of his brother | لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَارِي سَوْءَةَ أَخِيْهِ
he said, “Woe to me! Am I unable to be like this crow | قَالَ يَا وَيْلَتَي أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُوْنَ مِثْلَ هَذَا الغُرَابِ
and conceal the corpse of my brother?” then he became of the regretful | 31 | فَأُوَارِيَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِي فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّادِمِيْنَ |
From that time, We ordained for the children of Israel that he who kills a soul |
other than for punishment or spreading corruption on the earth then it is like he killed all of mankind | بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا
and who gives life (saves a life) then it is like he gives life (saves) to all of mankind | وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيْعًا
and indeed, came to them our messengers with the clear signs then certainly many among them | وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالبَيِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ
after that excessively transgress in the earth | 32 | بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي الأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُوْنَ |
Only the recompense for those who wage war with Allah (SWT) and His messenger |
and strive in the earth spreading corruption that they may be killed, or they may be crucified | وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَنْ يُقْتَلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا
or their hands and their feet may be cut off from opposite sides or they be exiled from the land | أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيِهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِّنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوا مِنَ الأَرْضِ
that is for them a disgrace in the world and for them in the hereafter is a great punishment | 33 | ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَهُمْ فِي الأَخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ |
except those who repent from before that you overpower over them | إِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ تَابُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ
and know that Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 34 | فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
O you who believe! Fear Allah (SWT) and seek towards Him, the means |
and strive in His way so that you are successful | 35 | وَجَاهِدُوا فِي سَبِيْلِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ |
Indeed, those who disbelieve if that for them all that is in the earth and the like of it with it | إِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُمْ مَّا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيْعًا وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ
to ransom themselves with it from the punishment of the day of resurrection | لِيَفْتَدُوا بِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ
it will not be accepted from them and for them is a painful punishment | 36 | مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
they wish to be removed from the fire but not they are the ones who come out from it | يُرِيْدُوْنَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَا هُمْ بِخَارِجِيْنَ مِنْهَا
and for them is a lasting punishment | 37 | وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيْمٌ |
And the male thief and the female thief then cut off their hands a compensation for what they earned |
a deterrent from Allah (SWT) and Allah (SWT) is All-Mighty, All-Wise | 38 | نَكَالًا مِّنَ اللهِ وَاللهُ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
But whoever repented from after his wrongdoing and reforms then truly Allah (SWT) will accept repentance from him | فَمَنْ تَابَ مِنْ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِ وَأَصْلَحَ فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَتُوْبُ عَلَيْهِ
indeed, Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 39 | إِنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
Do not you know that belongs to Allah (SWT) the kingdom of the heavens and the earth? |
He punishes whom He wills, and He forgives for whom He wills, and Allah (SWT) is over everything All-Powerful | 40 | يُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَآءُ وَاللهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ |
O messenger! Don’t you grieve for those who rush to disbelieve |
from those who said, “We believe” with their mouths but not their hearts believe | مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ قَالُوا ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوْبُهُمْ
and from those who are jews are ones who listen to falsehood, listeners to other people | وَمِنَ الَّذِيْنَ هَادُوا سَمَّاعُوْنَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّاعُوْنَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِيْنَ
not they have come to you, they distort the words from after their places | لَمْ يَأْتُوْكَ يُحَرِّفُوْنَ الكَلِمَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِ
They say, “If you are given this then take it but if you are not given it then beware” |
and for who Allah (SWT) wishes a trial for him, then not will you have any power for him against Allah (SWT) | وَمَنْ يُرِدِ اللهُ فِتْنَتَهُ فَلَنْ تَمْلِكَ لَهُ مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا
Those whom Allah (SWT) does not wish to purify their hearts |
for them in the world is disgrace and for them in the hereafter is a severe punishment | 41 | لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا خِزْيٌ وَلَهُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيْمٌ |
Listeners of falsehood, devourers of the forbidden |
so, if they come to you, either judge between them or turn away from them | فَإِنْ جَآءُوكَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ
If you turn away from them, they cannot hurt you in the least |
and if you judge, judge with justice between them | وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِالقِسْطِ
Verily, Allah (SWT) loves those who act justly | 42 |
But how is it they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah |
in which is the decision of Allah (SWT) | فِيهَا حُكْمُ اللهِ
Yet even after that they turn away |
those are not believers | 43 | وَمَآ أُوْلَآئِكَ بِالمُؤْمِنِيْنَ |
Verily We did send down the Torah |
In it is guidance and light |
The prophets who had submitted judged by it, for the Jews |
The rabbi’s and the scholars, upon whom the Book of Allah (SWT) was entrusted |
were witnesses to it so, do not fear the people but fear Me | عَلَيهِ شُهَدَآءَ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا النَّاسَ وَاخْشَونِ
and do not sell my signs for a small price | وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا بِئَايَاتِي ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًا
and who does not judge by what Allah (SWT) sent down | وَمَنْ لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ
then those, they are disbelievers | 44 | فَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الكَافِرُوْنَ |
and We ordained for them in it “a life for a life, | وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ النَّفْسَ بِالنَّفْسِ
an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, | وَالعَيْنَ بِالعَيْنِ وَالأَنْفَ بِالأَنْفِ وَالأُذُنَ بِالأُذُنِ
a tooth for a tooth and for wounds is equal retribution” | وَالسِّنَّ بِالسِّنِّ وَالجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ
But whoever pardons it, then it is an expiation for him | فَمَنْ تَصَدَّقَ بِهِ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَهُ
and whoever does not judge by that which Allah (SWT) has revealed | وَمَنْ لَّمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَآ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ
then those, they are the wrong-doers | 45 | فَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُوْنَ |
And We sent, following in their footsteps, Isa (AS) son of Mariam |
confirming what was between his hands of the Taurah | مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ
and We gave him the Injeel (Gospel) | وَءَاتَيْنَاهُ الإِنْجِيْلَ
in it was guidance and light and a confirmation of what was between his hands of the Taurah | فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُوْرٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ
and a guidance and an admonition for the God-Conscious | 46 | وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ |
Let the people of the Injeel judge by what Allah (SWT) revealed therein |
and who does not judge by what Allah (SWT) has revealed | وَمَنْ لَّمْ يَحْكُمْ بِمَآ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ
then those, they are the rebellious (defiantly disobedient) | 47 | فَأُوْلَآئِكَ هُمُ الفَاسِقُوْنَ |
And We sent down to you the Book in truth |
confirming what is between your hands of the Book and a guardian over it | مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ الكِتَابِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ
So, judge among them by what Allah (SWT) sent down (revealed) |
and follow not their vain desires, when the truth has come to you | وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ الحَقِّ
For each among you We have made a Law and a clear way | لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا
Had Allah (SWT) willed, He could have certainly made you one nation |
but to test you in what He gave you | وَلَاكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِي مَآ ءَاتَاكُمْ
So, race to the good | فَاسْتَبِقُوا الخَيْرَاتِ
to Allah (SWT) you will all return | إِلَى اللهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيْعًا
then, He will inform you about that in which you used to differ | 48 | فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُوْنَ |
So, judge among them by what Allah (SWT) has revealed |
and do not follow their vain desires | وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ
and beware of them lest they tempt you away from a part of that which Allah (SWT) has sent down to you | وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنُوكَ عَن بَعْضِ مَآ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ
and if they turn away then know that Allah (SWT) only wishes to punish them for some of their sins | فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ اللهُ أَنْ يُصِيْبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوْبِهِمْ
And truly many of the people are rebellious (defiantly disobedient) | 49 |
Is it then the judgement of (the days of) ignorance that they seek? |
and who is better than Allah (SWT) in judging for a people of firm faith?
O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians as friends |
they are friends to each other | بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ
and whoever among you follows them then, truly he is one of them | وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِّنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ
Truly Allah (SWT) does not guide the wrongdoing people | 51 | إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الظَّلِمِيْنَ |
So, you see those in whose hearts is a disease, hastening to them, saying: |
We fear that a misfortune may strike us | نَخْشَى أَنْ تُصِيْبَنَا دَآئِرَةٌ
but perhaps Allah (SWT) will bring a victory or a decision from Himself | فَعَسَى اللهُ أَنْ يَاْتِيَ بِالفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِّنْ عِنْدِهِ
and they will become regretful over what they concealed within themselves | 52 | فَيُصْبِحُوا عَلَى مَآ أَسَرُّوا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ نَادِمِيْنَ |
And those who believe say: |
“Are these those who swore their strongest oaths by Allah (SWT) that they were with you? | أَهَاؤُلَآءِ الَّذِيْنَ أَقْسَمُوا بِاللهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ
Their deeds were worthless, so they became the losers | 53 |
O you who believe: Whoever among you turns back from his religion |
Allah (SWT) will soon bring a people; He will love them, and they will love Him | فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِي اللهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُ
Humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers |
Striving in the path of Allah (SWT) and not fearing the blame of the critic |
That is the Grace of Allah (SWT) which He grants to whom He wills |
and Allah (SWT) is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing | 54 | وَاللهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيْمٌ |
Only Allah (SWT) is your Friend (Ally) and His messenger and those who believe |
and those who establish the prayer and give the obligatory tax | الَّذِيْنَ يُقِيْمُوْنَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوْنَ الزَّكَاةَ
and those who bow (in obedience) | 55 | وَهُمْ رَاكِعُوْنَ |
and whoever takes Allah (SWT), His Messenger and those who have believed (as an ally) | وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ اللهَ وَرَسُوْلَهُ وَالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا
then indeed the party of Allah (SWT), they are the ones who are victorious | 56 | فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ اللهِ هُمُ الغَالِبُوْنَ |
O you who believe! Do not take those who took your religion in ridicule |
and play from those who were given the book, from before you and the disbelievers, as allies | وَلَعِبًا مِّنَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَالكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَاءَ
and be mindful of Allah (SWT) if you are (truly) believers | 57 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِيْنَ |
and when you proclaim the call for the prayer, they take it in ridicule and play | وَإِذَا نَادَيْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اتَّخَذُوهَا هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا
that is indeed because they are a people who do not understand (reason) | 58 | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُوْنَ |
Say: O people of the scripture! Do you resent us only because we believe in Allah (SWT) |
and on what was revealed to us and what was revealed from before | وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلُ
and indeed, many of you are rebellious (defiantly disobedient) | 59 | وَأَنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ فَاسِقُوْنَ |
Say: shall I inform you what is a worse recompense from Allah (SWT) than that?
It is the one who Allah (SWT) cursed him and became angry with him and made | مَنْ لَّعَنَهُ اللهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ
of them monkeys and swine and who worshipped false gods | مِنْهُمُ القِرَدَةَ وَالخَنَازِيْرَ وَعَبَدَ الطَّاغُوتَ
Those are worse in rank (position) and farthest astray from the even way | 60 | أُوْلَآئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيْلِ |
When they come to you, they say “We believe” |
however, certainly they entered with disbelieve and they certainly went out with it | وَقَدْ دَّخَلُوا بِالكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا بِهِ
and Allah (SWT) knows very well what they conceal | 61 | وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْتُمُوْنَ |
and you see many among them hastening into sin and transgression | وَتَرَى كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ يُسَارِعُوْنَ فِي الإِثْمِ وَالعُدْوَانِ
and consuming the forbidden | وَأَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَ
Indeed, evil is what they were doing | 62 |
Why do the rabbis and the religious scholars not forbid them from sinful words |
and from consuming the forbidden | وَأَكْلِهِمُ السُّحْتَ
Evil indeed, is what they used to do | 63 | لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا يَصْنَعُوْنَ |
The Jews said, “The hand of Allah (SWT) is chained” |
Chained are their hands and they are cursed for what they said | غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا بِمَا قَالُوا
Nay, both His Hands are outstretched |
He spends as He pleases |
What has been revealed to you from your Lord, indeed increases many among them in rebellion and disbelieve | وَلَيَزِيْدَنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ مَّآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا
and we have cast among them enmity and hatred till the day of Resurrection | وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ العَدَاوَةَ وَالبَغْضَآءَ إِلَى يَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ
Every time they kindled the fire of war, Allah (SWT) extinguished it and they strive in the earth |
spreading corruption and Allah (SWT) does not love the ones who corrupt | 64 | فَسَادًا وَاللهُ لَا يُحِبُّ المُفْسِدِيْنَ |
and had that the people of the Book believed and been God-Conscious | وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الكِتَابِ ءَامَنُوا وَاتَّقَوا
We surely would have removed from them their evil deeds |
and We surely would have admitted them into the Gardens of bliss | 65 | وَلَأَدْخَلْنَاهُمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيْمِ |
and had that they stood firm on the Taurah and the Injeel | وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنْجِيْلَ
and what was revealed to them from their Lord | وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ
Surely, they would have eaten from above them and from beneath their feet |
Among them are a moderate community however evil is what many among them do | 66 | مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ وَكَثِيْرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَآءَ مَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ |
O Messenger! Proclaim what has been sent down to you from your Lord |
and if you do not, then, you have not conveyed His message | وَإِنْ لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ
Allah (SWT) will protect you from the people | وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ
Truly, Allah (SWT) does not guide the people who disbelieve | 67 |
Say; O people of the book! you are not on anything |
until you stand firmly by the Taurah and the Injeel | حَتَّى تُقِيْمُوا التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنْجِيْلَ
and what was sent down to you from your Lord | وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ
and what has been sent down to you from your Lord, indeed, increases many among them in sin and disbelief | وَلَيَزِيْدَنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِنْهُمْ مَّآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا
So, do not grieve over the disbelieving people | 68 | فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى القَوْمِ الكَافِرِيْنَ |
Truly, those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians |
who believe in Allah (SWT) and the Last Day and did good deeds | مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِاللهِ وَاليَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا
then no fear will be on them nor will they grieve | 69 | فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ |
Verily, We took the covenant of the Children of Israel |
and We sent to them Messengers | وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا
Whenever there came to them a Messenger with what they themselves desired not | كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُوْلٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَى أَنْفُسُهُمْ
a group they denied and a group they killed | 70 | فَرِيْقًا كَذَّبُوا وَفَرِيْقًا يَقْتُلُوْنَ |
They thought that there would be no trial |
so, they became blind and deaf | فَعَمُوا وَصَمُّوا
then Allah (SWT) turned to them | ثُمَّ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
then again many among them became blind and deaf | ثُمَّ عَمُوا وَصَمُّوا كَثِيْرٌ مِّنْهُمْ
and Allah (SWT) is All-Seeing of what they do | 71 | وَالله بَصِيْرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُوْنَ |
Certainly, those disbelieved who say; |
“Allah (SWT) is the Messiah, son of Maryam” |
but the Messiah said, | وَقَالَ المَسِيْحُ
“O Children of Israel! Worship Allah (SWT) my Lord and your Lord” |
Verily he who associates partners with Allah (SWT) |
Certainly Allah (SWT) has made Paradise unlawful for him and his abode will be the Fire |
and for the wrong doers there will be no helpers | 72 | وَمَا لِلْظَّالِمِيْنَ مِنْ أَنْصَارٍ |
Certainly, those disbelieved who say, |
“Allah (SWT) is the third of three | إِنَّ اللهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَاثَةٍ
and of gods there are none except One God | وَمَا مِنْ إِلَاهٍ إِلَّآ إِلَآهٌ وَاحِدٌ
and if they desist not regarding what they say | وَإِنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهُوا عَمَّا يَقُوْلُوْنَ
a painful punishment will surely touch (afflict) those who disbelieved | 73 | لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
Will they not turn in repentance to Allah (SWT) |
and Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Entirely Merciful | 74 | وَاللهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
Not was the Messiah, son of Maryam but a Messenger |
certainly, Messengers had passed from before him | قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ
and his mother was truthful | وَأُمُّهُ صِدِّيْقَةٌ
They both used to eat food |
Look how We make clear to them the signs |
yet look how they are deluded | 75 | ثُمَّ انْظُرْ أَنَّى يُؤْفَكُوْنَ |
Say; how do you worship other than Allah (SWT) |
what has no power to cause you any harm or any benefit | مَا لَا يَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًا وَلَا نَفْعًا
while Allah (SWT), He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing | 76 | وَاللهُ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ |
Say; O people of the Book! |
Do not exceed in your religion other than the truth |
and do not follow desires of people that have certainly gone astray from before | وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا أَهْوَآءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ
and they misled many as they have strayed from the right path | 77 | وَأَضَلُّوا كَثِيْرًا وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَآءِ السَّبِيْلِ |
Those who disbelieved from the Children of Israel were cursed |
by the tongue Dawud (AS) and Isa (AS), son of Maryam | عَلَى لِسَانِ دَاوُودَ وَعِيْسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ
that was because they disobeyed and they were transgressing | 78 | ذَلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا وَّكَانُوا يَعْتَدُوْنَ |
They used to not prevent one another from the wrong that they did | كَانُوا لَا يَتَنَاهَوْنَ عَنْ مُّنْكَرِ فَعَلُوهُ
Surely, evil was what they were doing | 79 |
You see many among them taking those who disbelieved as the allies |
Evil is what they sent forth for themselves |
so, Allah (SWT) became angry with them | أَنْ سَخِطَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ
and in torment they will abide forever | 80 | وَفِي العَذَابِ هُمْ خَالِدُوْنَ |
Had they believed in Allah (SWT) and the Prophet |
and on what has been revealed to him | وَمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ
they would have not taken them as allies | مَا اتَّخَذُوهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ
however, many among them are defiantly disobedient | 81 | وَلَاكِنَّ كَثِيْرًا مِّنْهُمْ فَاسِقُوْنَ |
Surely you will find the strongest of people in enmity to those who believe, |
(are) the Jews and those who are polytheists (associate others with Allah SWT) | اليَهُودَ وَالَّذِيْنَ أَشْرَكُوا
and surely you will find nearest of them in affection to those who believe, | وَلَتَجِدَنَّ أَقْرَبَهُمْ مَّوَدَّةً لِّلَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا
those who say; “We are Christians” | الَّذِيْنَ قَالُوا إِنَّا نَصَارَى
that is because among them priests and monks | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيْسِيْنَ وَرُهْبَانًا
and that they are not arrogant | 82 | وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ |
Part 7 / Chapter 5 | Chapter 5 /
And when they listen to what was revealed to the Messenger |
You see their eyes overflowing with tears |
from what they recognize of the truth | مِمَّا عَرَفُوا مِنَ الحَقِّ
they say, “Our Lord we have believed so, write us among the ones who witness” | 83 | يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِيْنَ |
and not for us to not believe in Allah (SWT) and what came to us of the truth | وَمَا لَنَا لَا نُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَمَا جَآءَنَا مِنْ الحَقِّ
and we hope that our Lord will admit us with the righteous people | 84 | وَنَطْمَعُ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا رَبُّنَا مَعَ القَوْمِ الصَّالِحِيْنَ |
So, because of what they said, Allah (SWT) rewarded them | فَأَثَابَهُمُ اللهُ بِمَا قَالُوا
gardens under which rivers flow, therein they will abide forever | جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِى مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَا
and that is the reward of the good doers | 85 | وَذَلِكَ جَزَآءُ المُحْسِنِيْنَ |
and those who disbelieved and denied Our signs | وَالَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِئَايَاتِنَآ
those are the companions of the hellfire | 86 | أُوْلَآئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الجَحِيْمِ |
O you who believe! |
do not make unlawful the good that Allah (SWT) has made lawful for you | لَا تُحَرِّمُوا طَيِّبَاتِ مَآ أَحَلَّ اللهُ لَكُمْ
and do not transgress | وَلَا تَعْتَدُوا
verily, Allah (SWT) does not love the ones who transgress | 87 | إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ المُعْتَدِيْنَ |
And eat of what good lawful (things) Allah (SWT) has provided you | وَكُلُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللهُ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا
and be mindful of Allah (SWT) in whom you believe | 88 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ الَّذِي أَنْتُمْ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ |
Allah (SWT) will not take you to account for what is unintentional in your oaths |
but He will call you to account for your deliberate oaths | وَلَاكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الأَيْمَانَ
So, its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people | فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِيْنَ
from the average of what you feed your families | مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُوْنَ أَهْلِيكُمْ
or clothing them or freeing a slave | أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيْرُ رَقَبَةٍ
however, who does not find then fasting three days | فَمَنْ لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ
that is the expiation of your oaths when you have sworn | ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ
and protect your oaths | وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ
Thus Allah (SWT) makes clear to you His signs |
that you may be grateful | 89 | لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ |
O you who believe! |
Verily, the intoxicants and the games of chance and the altars and divining arrows |
are an abomination from the work of Satan | رِجْسٌ مِّنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ
so, avoid them so that you may be successful | 90 | فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ |
Satan only wishes to cause enmity and hatred between you | إِنَّمَا يُرِيْدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُوْقِعَ بَيْنَكُمُ العَدَاوَةَ وَالبَغْضَآءَ
with intoxicants and gambling | فِي الخَمْرِ وَالمَيْسِرِ
and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah (SWT) and the prayer | وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللهِ وَعَنِ الصَّلَاةِ
Then, will you not be the ones who abstain? | 91 |
and obey Allah (SWT) and obey the Messenger and beware | وَأَطِيْعُوا اللهَ وَأَطِيْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَ وَاحْذَرُوا
and if you turn away then know that upon Our Messenger is only to convey clearly | 92 | فَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا عَلَى رَسُوْلِنَا البَلَاغُ المُبِيْن |
There is no sin on those who believe and do righteous deeds |
for what they ate when they did not fear and believe and do righteous deeds | فِيْمَا طَعِمُوا إِذَا مَا اتَّقُوا وَّءَامَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ
then they feared and believed, then they feared and excelled | ثُمَّ اتَّقُوا وَّءَامَنُوا تُمَّ اتَّقُوا وَّأَحْسَنُوا
and Allah (SWT) loves the ones who excel | 93 | وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ المُحْسِنِيْنَ |
O you who believe! |
Allah (SWT) will certainly test you with something of the game |
your hands and spears can reach it | تَنَالُهُ أَيْدِيْكُمْ وَرِمَاحُكُمْ
so, Allah (SWT) may make apparent who fears Him in secret (the Unseen) | لِيَعْلَمَ اللهُ مَنْ يَخَافُهُ بِالغَيْبِ
so, whoever transgressed after that | فَمَنِ اعْتَدَى بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ
then for him is a painful punishment | 94 | فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ أَلِيْمٌ |
O you who believe! |
Do not kill the game while you are in Ihram |
so, whoever among you kills it intentionally | وَمَنْ قَتَلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مُّتَعَمِّدًا
then the recompense is similar to what he killed of the sacrificial animal | فَجَزَآءٌ مِّثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ
judging it two just men among you | يَحْكُمُ بِهِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِّنْكُمْ
as an offering brought to the House of Allah (SWT) | هَدْيًا بَالِغَ الكَعْبَةِ
or feeding needy people as an expiation | أَوْ كَفَّارَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَاكِيْنَ
or its equivalent in fasting | أَوْ عَدْلُ ذَلِكَ صِيَامًا
that he may taste the heaviness (consequence) of his deed | لِيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِ
Allah (SWT) has pardoned what has passed so whoever returned (to his sin) |
then Allah (SWT) will take retribution from him | فَيَنْتَقِمُ اللهُ مِنْهُ
and Allah (SWT) is Exalted in Might, All-Capable of Retribution | 95 | وَاللهُ عَزِيْزٌ ذُو انْتِقَامٍ |
Game of the sea is made lawful for you and its food |
as a provision for you and for the travelers | مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِلسَّيَّارَةِ
but forbidden for you is the land-game while you are in Ihram | وَحُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ صَيْدُ البَرِّ مَا دُمْتُمْ حُرُمًا
so be Mindful of Allah (SWT) unto whom you will be gathered | 96 | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ الَّذِيْ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ |
Allah (SWT) has made the kabah the Sacred House |
An upright establishment (standing) for the people | قِيَامًا لِّلنَّاسِ
and the sacred months and the sacrificial animals and the garlands | وَالشَّهْرَ الحَرَامَ وَالهَدْيَ وَالقَلَائِدَ
that is so you may know | ذَلِكَ لِتَعْلَمُوا
that Allah (SWT) knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth | أَنَّ اللهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ
and that Allah (SWT) is over all things Aware (All-Knowing) | 97 | وَأَنَّ اللهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيْمٌ |
Know that Allah (SWT) is severe in punishment |
and that Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful | 98 | وَأَنَّ اللهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ |
Not on the Messenger except to deliver |
and Allah (SWT), He knows what you reveal and what you conceal | 99 | وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا تَكْتُمُونَ |
Say; not equal are the evil and the good | قُلْ لَّا يَسْتَوِى الخَبِيْثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ
even though much of the evil impresses you | وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكَ كَثْرَةُ الخَبِيثِ
so be mindful of Allah (SWT) O men of understanding so that you be successful | 100 | فَاتَّقُوا اللهَ يَا أُوْلِى الأَلْبَابِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ |
O you who believe! |
Do not ask about things if made clear to you will distress you | لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَآءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ
and if you ask about it when the Quran is being revealed | وَإِنْ تَسْئَلُوا عَنْهَا حِيْنَ يُنَزَّلُ القُرْءَانُ
it would be made clear to you | تُبْدَ لَكُمْ
Allah (SWT) has pardoned about it | عَفَا اللهُ عَنْهَا
and Allah (SWT) is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Forbearing | 101 | وَاللهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيْمٌ |
A community before you asked such questions |
then on account of it they became disbelievers | 102 | ثُمَّ أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِيْنَ |
Allah (SWT) has not made (ordained) of a she-camel who nobody was allowed to milk |
and a she-camel that was not allowed to carry anything | وَلَا سَآئِبَةٍ
and a she-camel that had given birth to a she camel at its first and second delivery | وَلَا وَصِيْلَةٍ
and a stallion-camel freed from work after it had completed a number of copulations | وَلَا حَامٍ
but those who disbelieved invent lies against Allah (SWT) | وَلَاكِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا يَفْتَرُوْنَ عَلَى اللهِ الكَذِبَ
as most of them have no understanding (do not reason) | 103 | وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُوْنَ |
And when it is said to them, | وَإِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمْ
“Come to what Allah (SWT) has revealed and to the Messenger” |
They say, “enough for us is what we found our forefathers upon” |
even though their forefathers did not know any better and were not guided | 104 | أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَآؤُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ شَيْعًا وَلَا يَهْتَدُوْنَ |
O you who believe! |
Upon you is (responsibility) yourselves |
those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided | لَا يَضُرُّكُمْ مَّنْ ضَلَّ إِذَا اهْتَدَيْتُمْ
to Allah (SWT) is your return all together | إِلَى اللهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيْعًا
then He will inform you of what you used to do | 105 | فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
O you who believe! |
Witness between you when death approaches one of you | شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَ أَحَدَكُمُ المَوْتُ
at the time of bequest, two just men among you | حِيْنَ الوَصِيَّةِ اثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ
or two others from other than you | أَوْ ءَاخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ
if you are travelling in the earth | إِنْ أَنْتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي الأَرْضِ
then the calamity of death befalls you | فَأَصَابَتْكُمْ مُّصِيْبَةُ المَوْتِ
detain both of them after the prayer | تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنْ بَعْدِ الصَّلَاةِ
and let them both swear by Allah (SWT), if you doubt | فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِاللهِ إِنِ ارْتَبْتُمْ
“We will not purchase with it a price even if he is a near relative | لَا تَشْتَرِي بِهِ ثَمَنًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبَى
nor will we conceal the testimony of Allah (SWT) | وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَادَةَ اللهِ
indeed, then we will surely be of the sinners | 106 | إِنَّآ إِذَا لَّمِنَ الأَثِمِيْنَ |
Then if it is found that the two were guilty of sin (perjury) |
then let two others stand in their place | فَئَاخَرَانِ يَقُوْمَانِ مَقَامَهُمَا
from those who have a lawful right (heirs) over the former two | مِنَ الَّذِيْنَ اسْتَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الأَوْلَيَانِ
let them both swear by Allah (SWT) | فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِاللهِ
“Surely our testimony is truer than the testimony of the other two | لَشَهَادَتُنَآ أَحَقُّ مِنْ شَهَادَتِهِمَا
and we have not transgressed, truly then we would certainly be from the wrong-doers | 107 | وَمَا اعْتَدَيْنَآ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الظَّالِمِبْنَ |
That they give the testimony thus will be closer to the truth |
or they will fear that their oaths will be refuted after the other’s oaths | أَوْ يَخَافُوا أَنْ تُرَدَّ أَيْمَانٌ بَعْدَ أَيْمَانِهِمْ
so, fear Allah (SWT) and listen | وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ وَاسْمَعُوا
and Allah (SWT) does not guide a rebellious people | 108 | وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي القَوْمَ الفَاسِقِيْنَ |
The day Allah (SWT) will gather the Messengers and say, |
“What was the response you received?” |
They will say, “We have no knowledge, | قَالُوا لَا عِلْمَ لَنَآ
truly You, only You are the All-Knower of the unseen (hidden)” | 109 | إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الغُيُوْبِ |
When Allah (SWT) will say; “O Isa, son of Maryam, | إِذْ قًالَ اللهُ يَا عِيْسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ
remember My Favor upon you and upon your mother, | اذْكُرْ نِعْمَتِي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى وَالِدَتِكَ
when I strengthened you with the holy spirit | إِذْ أَيَّدْتُكَ بِرُوْحِ القُدُسِ
so that you spoke to the people in infancy and maturity | تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي المَهْدِ وَكَهْلًا
and when I taught you the Book and the wisdom and the Taurah and the Injeel | وَإِذْ عَلَّمْتُكَ الكِتَابَ وَالحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنْجِيْلَ
and when you molded from clay like the shape of a bird by My permission | وَإِذْ تَخْلُقُ مِنَ الطِّيْنِ كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ بِإِذْنِي
then you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My permission | فَتَنْفُخُ فِيْهَا فَتَكُونُ طَيْرًا بِإِذْنِي
and you healed the ones born blind and the leper by My permission | وَتُبْرِئُ الأَكْمَهَ وَالأَبْرَصَ بِإِذْنِي
and when you brought forth the dead by My permission | وَإِذْ تُخْرِجُ المَوْتَى بِإِذْنِي
and when I restrained the Children of Israel from you | وَإِذْ كَفَفْتُ بَنِي إِسْرَآئِيْلَ عَنْكَ
when you came to them with clear signs | إِذْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِالبَيِّنَاتِ
so those who disbelieved among them said; | فَقَالَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ
“This is not but clear magic” | 110 |
And when I revealed to the disciples |
to believe in Me and My Messenger, | أَنْ ءَامِنُوا بِي وَبِرَسُوْلِي
they said, “we believe and bear witness that we are ones who submit” | 111 | قَالُوا ءَامَنَّا وَاشْهَدْ بِأَنَّنَا مُسْلِمُونَ |
When the disciples said, “O Isa, son of Maryam | إِذْ قَالَ الحَوَارِيُّوْنَ يَا عِيْسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ
Is your Lord able to send to us a table spread from the heavens?” |
He said, “be mindful of Allah (SWT) if you are believers” | 112 |
They said “we wish to eat from it and to satisfy our hearts | قَالُوا نُرِيْدُ أَنْ نَّأْكُلَا مِنْهَا وَتَطْمَئِنَّ قُلُوبُنَا
and to know that you have indeed told us the truth | وَنَعْلَمَ أَنْ قَدْ صَدَقْتَنَا
and that we ourselves be its witnesses” | 113 | وَنَكُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ الشَّاهِدِيْنَ |
Isa, son of Maryam said, | قَالَ عِيْسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ
“O Allah (SWT), our Lord! send to us from the heaven a table spread | اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَآ أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مَآئِدَةً مِنَ السَّمَآءِ
that there may be for us, for the first and the last of us a festival and a sign from You | تَكُونُ لَنَا عِيْدًا لِأَوَّلِنَا وَءَاخِرِنَا وَءَايَةً مِنْكَ
and provide us as You are the best of providers” | 114 | وَارْزُقْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِيْنَ |
Allah (SWT) said, “Indeed, I will send it down to you | قَالَ اللهُ إِنِّي مُنَزِّلُهَا عَلَيْكُمْ
but whoever among you disbelieves thereafter | فَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بَعْدُ مِنْكُمْ
then truly I will punish him with a punishment | فَإِنِّي أُعَذِّبُهُ عَذَابًا
the like of which I have not punished any other in the creation | 115 | لَّآ أُعَذِّبُهُ أَحَدًا مِنَ العَالَمِيْنَ |
And when Allah (SWT) said, “O Isa, son of Maryam | وَإِذْ قَالَ اللهُ يَا عِيْسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ
Did you say to the people “take me and my mother as two gods besides Allah (SWT)” |
He said, “Glory be to You, it is not for me to say what I have no right (to say) | قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ مَا يَكُونُ لِي أَنْ أَقُولَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِحَقٍّ
If I had said it, then certainly you would know it | إِنْ كُنْتُ قُلْتُهُ فَقَدْ عَلِمْتَهُ
You know what is in myself and i know not what is in yourself |
Truly You, You are All-Knowing of the unseen | 116 |
I did not say to them except what You commanded me to say, |
‘To worship Allah (SWT), my Lord and your Lord’ |
and I was a witness over them while I dwelt among them | وَكُنْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ شَهِيْدًا مَّا دُمْتُ فِيْهِمْ
but when You raised me, You were the Watcher over them | فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيتَنِي كُنْتَ أَنْتَ الرَّقِيْبَ عَلَيْهِمْ
and You are over all things a Witness | 117 | وَأَنْتَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيْدٌ |
If You punish them then truly, they are Your slaves |
and if you forgive them then truly, You, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise” | 118 | وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيْزُ الحَكِيْمُ |
Allah (SWT) will say, “This is the day the truthful will profit from their truthfulness | قَالَ اللهُ هَذَا يَوْمُ يَنْفَعُ الصَّادِقِيْنَ صِدْقُهُمْ
for them are gardens under which rivers flow | لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ
they shall abide therein forever | خَالِدِيْنَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًا
Allah (SWT) is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him | رَّضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوْا عَنْهُ
that is the great success” | 119 | ذَلِكَ الفَوْزُ العَظِيْمُ |
To Allah (SWT) belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is therein |
and He is over everything Powerful (Capable) | 120 | وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ |
