Chapter 88
Chapter 88 of the holy Quran with full Arabic text and English translation (Surah Al-Ghashiyah – سُوْرَةُ الغَاشِيَةِ – The overwhelming)
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Eternally Merciful
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَانِ الرَّحِيْمِ
| Part 30 / Chapter 88 | Chapter 88 / عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوْنَ | |
| Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming? | 1 | هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيْثُ الغَاشِيَةِ |
| Faces that day will be humbled | 2 | وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ |
| Laboring, weary | 3 | عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ |
| They will enter in the hot blazing fire | 4 | تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً |
| They will be given to drink from a boiling hot spring | 5 | تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍ |
| No food will there be for them but from a poisonous thorny plant | 6 | لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيْعٍ |
| which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger | 7 | لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ |
| Faces that day will be joyful | 8 | وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاعِمَةٌ |
| glad with their endeavor | 9 | لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ |
| in a lofty paradise | 10 | فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ |
| Not will they hear in it falsehood | 11 | لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً |
| therein will be a running spring | 12 | فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌ |
| therein will be thrones raised high | 13 | فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ |
| and cups set at hand | 14 | وَأَكْوَابٌ مَّوْضُوعَةٌ |
| and cushions set in rows | 15 | وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌ |
| and rich carpets spread out | 16 | وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ |
| Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? | 17 | أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُوْنَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ |
| and at the heaven, how it is raised? | 18 | وَإِلَى السَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ |
| and at the mountains, how they are rooted? | 19 | وَإِلَى الجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ |
| and the earth, how it is spread? | 20 | وَإِلَى الأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ |
| so, remind them | فَذَكِّرْ | |
| You are only a reminder | 21 | إِنَّمَآ أَنْتَ مُذَكِّرٌ |
| You are not a dictator over them | 22 | لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ |
| save the one who turns away and disbelieves | 23 | إِلَّا مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ |
| then Allah (SWT) will punish him with the greatest punishment | 24 | فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللهُ العَذَابَ الأَكْبَرَ |
| Verily to Us will be their return | 25 | إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ |
| then verily for Us will be their reckoning | 26 | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ |
