أَصْحَابِ

A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – أَصْحَابِ is a noun

A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive

الأَصْحَابُ is the natural state of this definite noun and becomes الأَصْحَابِ due to: 1) a preposition that precedes it or 2) a possessed noun that precedes it or 3) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

الأَصْحَابِ loses it’s definite article, becoming أَصْحَابِ due to it being a possessed noun

اسْمٌ مَجْرُوْرٌ بِالكَسْرَةِ الزَّاهِرَةِ وَهُوَ مُضَافٌ
Surah/Below are the 15 verses in the holy Quran containing the 16 occurrences of the genitive, possessed nounأَصْحَابِ
Verse
Verily We have sent you with the truth, a bringer of glad tidings and a warnerإِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَاكَ بِالحَقِّ بَشِيْرًا وَنَذِيْرًا
2-119and you will not be asked about the companions of the blazing fireوَلَا تُسْئَلُ عَنْ أَصْحَابِ الجَحِيْمِ
“Truly I wish that you be laden with my sin and your sin so you will be from the companions of the fireإِنِّي أُرِيْدُ أَنْ تَبُوْأَ بِإِثْمِي وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُوْنَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ
5-29and that is the recompense of the wrong doers”وَذَلِكَ جَزَآؤُا الظَّالِمِيْنَ
and when their eyes are turned towards the companions of the fireوَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ تِلْقَآءَ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ
7-47they say, “Our Lord, make us not with the wrongdoing people”قَالُوا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ القَوْمِ الظَّالِمِيْنَ
Did not come to them the news of those from before them, the people of Nuh (AS) and Aad and Thamudأَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِيْنَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوْحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُوْدَ
and the people of Ebrahim (AS) and the companions of Madian and the towns overthrownوَقَوْمِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ وَأَصْحَابِ مَدْيَنَ وَالمُؤْتَفِكَاتِ
their messengers came to them with the clear signsأَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالبَيِّنَاتِ
9-70so, not was Allah (SWT) to wrong them but they used to wrong themselvesفَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَاكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُوْنَ
