ابْتِغَاءَ
A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – ابْتِغَآءَ is a noun
A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive
الابْتِغَآءُ is the natural state of this definite noun and it becomes الاِبْتِغَآءَ due to it being the: 1) المَفْعُوْلُ بِهِ object of a verb or 2) اسْمُ of إِنَّ or 3) خَبَرُ of كَانَ or 4) المَفْعُوْلُ فِيْهِ adverb of time or place or 5) المَفْعُوْلُ لَهُ noun that gives the reason for doing a thing or 6) المَفْعُوْلُ مَعَهُ noun that comes after the و which means “along with” or 7) المَفْعُوْلُ المُطْلَقُ is the مَصْدَرٌ of the verb occurring in the sentence or 8) الحَالُ adverb of manner or 9) التَّمْيِيْزُ noun that specifies the meaning of a vague word or 10) المُسْتَثْنَى noun that comes after إِلَّا meaning “except” or 11) المُنَادَى noun of calling
الاِبْتِغَآءَ loses it’s definite article, becoming ابْتِغَآءَ due to it being a possessed noun

To transgress, pass beyond bounds, act unjustly or insolently, lie, oppress anyone, treat unjustly, hate, seek, desire.

and of mankind is he who would sell himself seeking the pleasure of Allah (SWT) | وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْرِى نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللهِ | |
2-207 | and Allah (SWT) is full of kindness to His slaves | وَاللهُ رَءُوْفٌ بِالعِبَادِ |
The example of those who spend their wealth seeking the pleasure of Allah (SWT) | وَمَثَلُ الَّذِيْنَ يُنْفِقُوْنَ أَمْوَالَهُمُ ابْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللهِ | |
and certainty from their (inner) souls is like a garden on a height, heavy rain fell on it | وَتَثْبِيْتًا مِّنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ كَمَثَلِ جَنَّةٍ بِرَبْوَةٍ أَصَابَهَا وَابِلٌ | |
so, it yielded its harvest double then if not fell on it, heavy rain, then a drizzle | فَئَاتَتْ أُكُلَهَا ضِعْفَيْنِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْهَا وَابِلٌ فَطَلٌّ | |
2-265 | and indeed, Allah (SWT) is over what you do All-Seeing (Ever Watchful) | وَاللهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ بَصِيْرٌ |
Not upon you their guidance but Allah (SWT) guides whom He wills | لَّيْسَ عَلَيْكَ هُدَاهُمْ وَلَاكِنَّ اللهَ يَهْدِى مَن يَشَآءُ | |
and whatever you spend from good then it is for yourself | وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِأَنْفُسِكُمْ | |
and not you spend except seeking the face of Allah (SWT) | وَمَا تُنْفِقُوْنَ إِلَّا ابْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ اللهِ | |
2-272 | and whatever you spend of good will be repaid in full to you and you will not be wronged | وَمَا تُنْفِقُوْنَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُوْنَ |
He is who revealed to you the book, in it are verses, entirely clear | هُوَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الكِتَابَ مِنْهُ ءَايَاتٌ مُّحْكَمَاتٌ | |
they are the foundations of the book and others not entirely clear | هُنَّ أُمُّ الكِتَابِ وَأُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌ | |
so as for those in their hearts is deviation, they follow what is unclear of it | فَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ فِي قُلُوْبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُوْنَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ | |
seeking misguidance and seeking its hidden meanings and not any know its hidden meanings except Allah (SWT) | ابْتِغَآءَ الفِتْنَةِ وَبْتِغَآءَ تَأْوِيْلِهِ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْوِيْلَهُ إِلَّا اللهُ | |
and those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say, “we believe in it, all is from our Lord” | وَالرَّاسِخُوْنَ فِي العِلْمِ يَقُوْلُوْنَ ءَامَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِّنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا | |
3-7 | and not they will remember (receive admonition) except men of understanding | وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُوْلُوا الأَلْبَابِ |
There is no good in most of their private talk except who enjoins charity | لَّا خَيْرَ فِي كَثِيْرٍ مِّنْ نَجْوَاهُمْ إِلَّا مَنْ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ | |
or kindness or making peace (correcting improving) between the people | أَوْ مَعْرُوْفٍ أَوْ إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ | |
and who does that seeking the pleasure of Allah (SWT) | وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ ابْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللهِ | |
4-114 | then soon We will give him a great reward | فَسَوْفَ نُؤْتِيْهِ أَجْرًا عَظِيْمًا |

O you who believe! Take not My enemies and your enemies as friends | يَآ أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوِّي وَعَدُوَّكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ | |
showing affection to them while they have disbelieved in what came to you of the truth | تُلْقُوْنَ إِلَيهِمْ بِالمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِمَا جَآءَكُمْ مِنَ الحَقِّ | |
driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah (SWT), your Lord | يُخْرِجُوْنَ الرَّسُوْلَ وَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللهِ رَبِّكُمْ | |
if you truly came forth to strive in My Cause and to seek My Pleasure | إِنْ كُنْتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَادًا فِي سَبِيٍْلِى وَابْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِي | |
You confide in them with affection but I know of what you conceal and what you declare | تُسِرُّوْنَ إِلَيْهِمْ بِالمَوَدَّةِ وَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِمَآ أَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَآ أَعْلَنْتُمْ | |
60-1 | and whoever does it among you then certainly he has strayed from the straight path | وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْهُ مِنْكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ السَّبِيْلِ |
92-20 | except to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High | إِلَّا ابْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى |
