خَيْرٌ
A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – خَيْرٌ is a noun
A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive

Verse | ||
And when Moses said to his people “O my people! Truly you have wronged yourselves | وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوْسَى لِقَوْمِهِ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّكُمْ ظَلَمْتُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ | |
by taking the calf (for worship) so, turn to your Creator (in repentance) | بِاتِّخَاذِكُمُ العِجْلَ فَتُوْبُوْا إِلَى بَارِئِكُمْ | |
and kill yourselves (ego) that will be better for you with your Creator” | فَاقْتُلُوْا أَنْفُسَكُمْ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ عِنْدَ بَارِئِكُمْ | |
2-54 | then He accepted your repentance Truly He is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful | فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ |
And when you said “O Moses we cannot endure one kind of food | وَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوْسَى لَنْ نَّصْبِرَ عَلَى طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ | |
so, invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth grows | فَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الأَرْضُ | |
of its herbs, its cucumbers, its wheat/garlic, its lentils and its onions” | مِنْ بَقْلِهَا وَ قِثَّآئِهَا وَفَوْمِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا | |
He said “Would you exchange for that which is lesser with that which is better? | قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُوْنَ الَّذِي هُوَ أَدْنَى بِالَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ | |
Go you down to a town and you shall find what you are asking for” | اهْبِطُوْا مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُمْ مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ | |
And they were covered with humiliation and misery as they drew on themselves the Wrath of Allah (SWT) | وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُوْا بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللهِ | |
that due to their disbelieving in the signs of Allah (SWT) | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِئَايَاتِ اللهِ | |
and killing the Prophets without right | وَيَقْتُلُوْنَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ بِغَيْرِ الحَقِّ | |
2-61 | that was because they disobeyed and were transgressing | ذَلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَّكَانُوْا يَعْتَدُوْنَ |
And had they believed and been mindful (of Allah SWT) | وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ ءَامَنُوْا وَاتَّقُوْا | |
2-103 | better would have been their reward with Allah (SWT) if only they knew | لَمَثُوْبَةٌ مِّنْ عِنْدِ اللهِ خَيْرٌ لَّوْ كَانُوْا يَعْلَمُوْنَ |
For a fixed number of days but if any of you is ill or on a journey | أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُوْدَاتٍ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيْضًا أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ | |
the same number from other days and on those who can afford it | فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ وَعَلَى الَّذِيْنَ يُطِيْقُوْنَهُ | |
a ransom of feeding a needy (poor) but who volunteers to do more, then it is better for him | فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِيْنٍ فَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَهُوْ خَيْرٌ لَّهُ | |
2-184 | and to fast is better for you if you only knew | وَأَنْ تَصُوْمُوْا خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ |
Fighting is prescribed for you while it is hateful to you but, perhaps | كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ القِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى | |
but, perhaps that you dislike a thing that is good for you and, perhaps that you love a thing | أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَنْ تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا | |
2-216 | that is bad for you and Allah (SWT) knows while you do not know | وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ |
concerning the world and the hereafter and they ask you about the orphans | فِى الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَيَسْئَلُوْنَكَ عَنِ اليَتَامَى | |
say, “setting right for them is good and if you associate with them then they are your brothers | قُلْ إِصْلَاحٌ لَّهُمْ خَيْرٌ وَإِنْ تُخَالِطُوْهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ | |
and Allah (SWT) knows the corrupter from the amender and if Allah (SWT) willed | وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ المُفْسِدَ مِنَ المُصْلِحِ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اللهُ | |
2-220 | surely, He could have put you in difficulties truly, Allah (SWT) is All-Mighty, All-Wise | لَأَعْنَتَكُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزِيْزٌ حَكِيْمٌ |
and do not marry polytheist women until they believe and a believing slave girl | وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا المُشْرِكَاتِ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَّ وَلَأَمَةٌ مَّؤْمِنَةٌ | |
is better than a polytheist woman even if she impresses you and do not give in marriage to polytheist men | خَيْرٌ مِّن مُّشْرِكَةٍ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَتْكُمْ وَلَا تُنْكِحُوا المُشْرِكِيْنَ | |
until they believe, and a believing slave is better than a polytheist man even if he impresses you | حَتَّى يُؤْمِنُوا وَلَعَبْدٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ خَيْرٌ مِّن مُّشْرِكٍ وَلَوْ أَعْجَبَكُمْ | |
those, they invite to the fire and Allah (SWT) invites to Paradise and forgiveness | أُوْلَآئِكَ يَدْعُوْنَ إِلَى النَّارِ وَاللهُ يَدْعُوا إِلَى الجَنَّةِ وَالمَغْفِرَةِ | |
2-221 | by His permission and He makes clear his verses for the people so that you may remember (take heed) | بِإِذْنِهِ وَيُبَيِّنُ ءَايَاتِهِ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوْنَ |
Kind words and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury (harm) | قَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوْفٌ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِّن صَدَقَةٍ يَتْبَعُهَآ أَذًى | |
2-263 | and Allah (SWT) is All-Sufficient, All-Forbearing | وَاللهُ غَنِيٌّ حَلِيْمٌ |
If you disclose the charities, then good that is and if you conceal it | إِنْ تُبْدُوا الصَّدَقَاتِ فَنِعِمَّا هِيَ وَإِنْ تُخْفُوْهَا | |
and give it to the poor then it is better for you, and He will remove from you from your evil deeds | وَتُؤْتُوْهَا الفُقَرَآءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَيُكَفِّرُ عَنْكُم مِّنْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ | |
2-271 | and Allah (SWT) over what you do is All-Aware | وَاللهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِيْرٌ |
and if he be possessing difficulty (hardship) then respite (postponement) until ease | وَإِنْ كَانَ ذُو عُسْرَةٍ فَنَظِرَةٌ إِلَى مَيْسَرَةٍ | |
2-280 | and if you remit as charity, it is better for you if you know | وَأَنْ تَصَدَّقُوا خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ |
