رَبَّ

A word in the Arabic language will either be 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – رَبَّ is a noun

A noun may either be 1) Definite or indefinite 2) Masculine or feminine 3) Singular, dual or plural 4) Nominative, accusative or genitive

الرَّبُّ is the natural state of a definite noun and becomes الرَّبَّ due to it being the: 1) المَفْعُوْلُ بِهِ object of a verb or 2) اسْمُ of إِنَّ or 3) خَبَرُ of كَانَ or 4) المَفْعُوْلُ فِيْهِ adverb of time or place or 5) المَفْعُوْلُ لَهُ noun that gives the reason for doing a thing or 6) المَفْعُوْلُ مَعَهُ noun that comes after the و which means “along with” or 7) المَفْعُوْلُ المُطْلَقُ is the مَصْدَرٌ of the verb occurring in the sentence or 8) الحَالُ adverb of manner or 9) التَّمْيِيْزُ noun that specifies the meaning of a vague word or 10) المُسْتَثْنَى noun that comes after إِلَّا meaning “except” or 11) المُنَادَى noun of calling or 3) it’s a noun of dependent declension a) نَعْتٌ / صِفَطٌ adjectives b) التَّوْكِيْدُ emphatic c) المَعْطُوْفٌ conjunction d) البَدَلُ synonym

الرَّبَّ loses it’s definite article, changing to رَبَّ due to it being a possessed noun

Originator of things, fosterer, bring up, nourish to perfection

Conveys not only the idea of originator of things, fostering, bringing up and nourishing to perfection, but also that of regulating, completing, accomplishing, cherishing, sustaining and bringing to maturity and evolution from the earliest state to that of the highest perfection

Verse
O People, worship your Nurturer who has created you and those before youيَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوْا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ
2-21so that you may become pious (God conscious)لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقٌوْنَ
And when you said “O Moses we cannot endure one kind of foodوَإِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوْسَى لَنْ نَّصْبِرَ عَلَى طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ
so, invoke your Lord for us to bring forth for us of what the earth growsفَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الأَرْضُ
of its herbs, its cucumbers, its wheat/garlic, its lentils and its onions”مِنْ بَقْلِهَا وَ قِثَّآئِهَا وَفَوْمِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا
He said “Would you exchange that which is lesser with that which is better?قَالَ أَتَسْتَبْدِلُوْنَ الَّذِي هُوَ أَدْنَى بِالَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ
Go you down to a town and you shall find what you are asking for”اهْبِطُوْا مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُمْ مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ
And they were covered with humiliation and misery as they drew on themselves the Wrath of Allah (SWT)وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَآءُوْا بِغَضَبٍ مِّنَ اللهِ
that due to their disbelieving in the signs of Allah (SWT)ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِئَايَاتِ اللهِ
and killing the Prophets without rightوَيَقْتُلُوْنَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ بِغَيْرِ الحَقِّ
2-61that was because they disobeyed and were transgressingذَلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَّكَانُوْا يَعْتَدُوْنَ
They said “Call upon your Lord for us that He may make clear to us what it is”قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا هِيَ
He said “Truly He, He says it is certainly a cow not too old nor young but between thatقَالَ إِنَّهُ يَقُوْلُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ ا فَارِضٌ وَلَا بِكْرٌ عَوَانٌ بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ
2-68so do what you are commandedفَافْعَلُوْا مَا تُؤْمَرُوْنَ
They said, “Call upon your Lord for us to make clear to us its color?”قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا لَوْنُهَا
2-69He said “Truly He, He says it is certainly a yellow cow bright in its color, pleasing the ones who behold”قَالَ إِنَّهُ يَقُوْلُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ صَفْرَآءُ فَاقِعٌ لَّوْنُهَا تَسُرُّ النَّاظِرِيْنَ
They said “Call upon your Lord for us to make clear to us what it is?قَالُوْا ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُبَيِّنْ لَّنَا مَا هِيَ
2-70Surely to us all cows are alike and surely if Allah wills, we will be ones who are guidedإِنَّ البَقَرَتَشَابَهَ عَلَيْنَا وَإِنَّآ إِنْ شَآءَ اللهُ لَمُهْتَدُوْنَ
And when Ebrahim (AS) was raising the foundations of the House with Ishmael (AS)وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيْمُ القَوَاعِدَ مِنَ البَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيْلُ
2-127our Lord accept from us, Truly You are the All-Hearer, the All-Knower”رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّآ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيْعُ العَلِيْمُ
our Lord, make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto Youرَبَّنَا وَاجْعَلْنَا مُسْلِمَيْنِ لَكَ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِنَآ أُمَّةً مُسْلِمَةً لَّكَ
2-128and show us our rites and turn to us, truly You are Oft Returning, Most Merciful”وَأَرِنَا مَنَاسِكَنَا وَتُبْ عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيْمُ
our Lord, raise from among them a Messenger who will recite to them Your verses رَبَّنَا وَابْعَثْ فِيْهِمْ رَسُوْلًا مِنْهُمْ يَتْلُوْا عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَاتِكَ
and teach them the book and wisdom and purify themوَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الكِتَابَ وَالحِكْمَةَ وَيُزَكِّيْهِمْ
2-129Truly You, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wiseإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيْزُ الحَكِيْمُ
and when you have completed your sacred rites (worship)فَإِذَا قَضَيْتُمْ مَّنَاسِكَكُمْ
Remember Allah (SWT) like you remember your forefathers or with a much greater remembranceفَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ كَذِكْرِكُمْ ءَابَآءَكُمْ أَوْ أَشَدَّ ذِكْرًا
and from the people are some who say “our Lord give us in this world”فَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُوْلُ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا
2-200so not will he have in the hereafter any shareوَمَا لَهُ فِي الآخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ
and of them there are some who say “our Lord, give us good in this worldوَمِنْهُمْ مَّنْ يَقُوْلُ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً
2-201and good in the hereafter and protect us from the torment of the fire”وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
and when emerged to face Jalut and his troops they said (invoked), “our Lord! pourوَلَمَّا بَرَزُوا لِجَالُوْتَ وَجُنُوْدِهِ قَالُوا رَبَّنَآ أَفْرِغْ
2-250on us patience and make our feet firm and help us against the disbelieving people”عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى القَوْمِ الكَافِرِيْنَ
2-282
and if you are on a journey and you cannot find a scribe then take a pledgeوَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ وَلَمْ تَجِدُوا كَاتِبًا فَرِهَانٌ مَّقْبُوْضَةٌ
then if one of you entrust the other let the one who is entrusted discharge his trustفَإِنْ أَمِنَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا فَلْيُؤَدِّ الَّذِي اؤْتُمِنَ أَمَانَتَهُ
and let him fear Allah (SWT), his Lord and do not conceal the testimony and who conceals itوَلْيَتَّقِي اللهَ رَبَّهُ وَلَا تَكْتُمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ وَمَن يَكْتُمْهَا
2-283then indeed, he, his heart is sinful, and Allah (SWT) is All-Knowing over what you doفَإِنَّهُ ءَاثِمٌ قَلْبُهُ وَاللهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ عَلِيْمٌ
The messenger believes in what was revealed to him from his Lord and (so do) the believersءَامَنَ الرَّسُوْلُ بِمَآ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
all believe in Allah (SWT) and His angels and His books and His messengersكُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِاللهِ وَمَلَآئِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
“we make no distinction between anyone from His messengers” and they sayلَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِ وَقَالُوا
2-285“we hear and we obey (we seek) Your forgiveness, our Lord and to You is the returnسَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ المَصِيْرُ
Allah (SWT) does not burden a soul except its capacityلَا يُكَلِّفُ اللهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
for it what it earned and upon it what it earnedلَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ
our Lord! seize us not if we forget or fall into error (miss the mark)رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَآ إِن نَّسِيْنَآ أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا
our Lord! place not a load (burden) upon usرَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَآ إِصْرًا
like what You placed it on those from before usكَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا
our Lord! and place not upon us a burden greater than we have the strength to bear itرَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ
pardon us and forgive us and grant us mercyوَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْلَنَا وَارْحَمْنَآ
2-286You are our Protector so help us over the disbelieving people”أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى القَوْمِ الكَافِرِيْنَ

74-3and your Lord, magnifyوَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ
84-15Yes indeed, certainly his Lord was ever Seeing of himبَلَى إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيْرًا
89-14Indeed, your lord is Ever Watchfulإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالمِرْصَادِ
Their reward is with their Lord, gardens of eternity, underneath which rivers flowجَزَآؤُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهَمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِى مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ
They will abide therein forever, Allah (SWT) pleased with themخَالِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ أَبَدًا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ
98-8and they with Him, that is for who feared his Lordوَرَضُوْا عَنْهُ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُ
99-5Because your Lord will certainly inspire herبِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَى لَهَا
100-11Truly, that day, their Lord will be well acquainted with themإِنَّ رَبَّهُمْ بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيْرٌ
106-3So let them worship the Lord of this houseفَلْيَعْبُدُوْا رَبَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ
