Particle لَم
Most of the words in the Arabic language are derived from a three-letter root which represents a core meaning or concept, however the particle لَم is built on a fixed form
لَم is a negative particle giving to the present the sense of the perfect

| 96-15 | Nay, if he ceases not, We will surely catch him by the forelock | كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَّمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ |
| 98-1 | Not were those who disbelieved from the people of the book and the polytheists | لَمْ يَكُنِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُشْرِكِينَ |
| to be abandoned until the clear evidence comes to them | مُنْفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ الْبَيِّنَةُ | |
| 105-1 | Did not you see how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant? | أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ |
| 105-2 | Did not He make their plan go astray ? | أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ |
| 112-3 | He does not give birth nor was He born | لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ |
| 112-4 | And there is none like Him | وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ |
