| and certainly, We sent to people (nations) from before you | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَى أُمَمٍ مِّنْ قَبْلِكَ | |
| then We took (seized) them with adversity (evil) and hardship | فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِالبَأْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ | |
| 6-42 | so that they may humble themselves | لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُوْنَ |
| then why, when came to them our punishment, they humbled themselves not | فَلَوْلَآ إِذْ جَآءَهُمْ بَاْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا | |
| but their hearts became hardened | وَلَاكِنْ قَسَتْ قُلُوْبُهُمْ | |
| 6-43 | and Satan made fair seeming to them that which they used to do | وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُوْنَ |
| Say, “Who saves you from the darkness of the land and the sea | قُلْ مَنْ يُنَجِّيْكُمْ مِّنْ ظُلُمَاتِ البَرِّ وَالبَحْرِ | |
| you call Him humbly and secretly | تَدْعُوْنَهُ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً | |
| 6-63 | truly if He saves us from this, indeed we will certainly be from the grateful ones” | لَّئِنْ أَنْجَيْنَا مِنْ هَذِهِ لَنَكُوْنَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِيْنَ |
| Call upon your Lord humbly and privately | ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً | |
| 7-55 | Indeed He loves not the transgressors | إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ المُعْتَدِيْنَ |
| and not We sent in a city a prophet | وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّبِيٍّ | |
| except We seized its people with adversity and hardship | إِلَّآ أَخَذْنَآ أَهْلَهَا بِالبَأْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ | |
| 7-94 | so that they may humble themselves | لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُوْنَ |
| and remember your Lord in yourself, humbly and in fear | وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيْفَةً | |
| and without the loudness of words in the mornings and in the evenings | وَدُوْنَ الجَهْرِ مِنَ القَوْلِ بِالغُدُوِّ وَالأَصَالِ | |
| 7-205 | and do not be among the neglectful (heedless) | وَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الغَافِلِيْنَ |
