The root  ظ ل م  occurs in the holy Quran approximately 315 times
الْجَمْعُ الْمُؤَنَّثُ السَّالِمُاسْمٌ2-17Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire, then, when it lighted all around him,مَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّا أَضَائَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ ذَهَبَ اللهُ بِنُوْرِهِمْ
Allah took away their light and left them in darkness so they could not seeوَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُوْنَ
الْجَمْعُ الْمُؤَنَّثُ السَّالِمُاسْمٌ2-19or like a rainstorm from the sky wherein is darkness, thunder and lightning. They thrust their fingers in أَوْ كَصَيِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ فِيْهِ ظُلُمَاتٌ وَرَعَدٌ وَبَرْقٌ يَجْعَلُوْنَ أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي ءَاذَانِهِمْ
their ears to keep out the thunder-clap for fear of death but Allah ever encompasses the disbelieversمِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ المَوْتِ وَاللهُ مُحِيْطٌ بِالكَافِرِيْنَ
فِعْلٌ مَاضٍF42-20The lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them they walk therein however when darkness covers themيَكَادُ البَرْقُ يَخْطَفُ أَبْصَارَهُمْ كُلَّمَا أَضَاءَ لَهُمْ مَشَوْا فِيْهِ وَإِذَا أَظْلَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ
they stand still. And if Allah willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly Allah has power over all thingsقَامُوْا وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللهُ لَذَهَبَ بِسَمْعِهِمْ وَأَبْصَارِهِمْ إِنَّ اللهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ
2-35And We said “O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure of things thereinوَقُلْنَا يَا ءَادَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ
الْجَمْعُ المُذَكَّرُ السَّالِمُاسْمُ الفَاعِلِas you will but come not near this tree or you both will be of the wrong-doersشِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَاذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُوْنَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ
2-51And when we appointed for Moses (RA) forty nights thereafter you took the calfوَإِذْ وَاعَدْنَا مُوْسَى أَرْبَعِيْنَ لَيْلَةً ثُمَّ اتَّخَذْتُمُ العِجْلَ
الْجَمْعُ المُذَكَّرُ السَّالِمُاسْمُ الفَاعِلِfor worship so you were wrongdoersمِنْ بَعْدِهِ وَأَنْتُمْ ظَالِمُوْنَ
