لَا is

Most of the words in the Arabic language are derived from a three-letter root which represents a core meaning or concept, however the لَا is built on a fixed form

لَا is an adverb of negation and a negative particle meaning no, not at all, do not, not (with nouns and verbs) – negative لَا

لَا is also used to deny the existence of a thing , equivalent to لَيْسَ, generally governs the accusative – لَا negating the genus

لَا is also used as a negative imperative – prohibitive لَا 

لَا is also used to draw pointed attention to the subject which is about to be introduced – attention لَا

1-7not of those who have earned Your Anger nor of those who are astrayغَيْرِ المَغْضُوْبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّيْنَ
لِلْجِنْسِ2-2That book, wherein there is no doubt, is a guidance for the God-consciousذَلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهِ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِيْنَ
2-6Truly those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you warn them or not, they will not believeإِنَّ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَ أَنْذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُوْمِنُوْنَ
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ2-11And when it is said to them “Do not make mischief on the earth” they say “We are only peace-makers”وَإِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوْا فِي الأَرْضِ قَالُوْا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُوْنَ
2-12O no! they are the ones who make mischief, but they perceive notأَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُوْنَ وَلَاكِنْ لَّا يَشْعُرُوْنَ
And when it is said to them “Believe as the people believed” they say, “Shall we believe asوَإِذَ قِيْلَ لَهُمْ ءَامِنُوْا كَمَا ءَامَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُوْا أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا
2-13the fools believed?” Truly they are the fools, but they do not know itءَامَنَ السُّفَهَاءُ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَاكِنْ لَّا يَعْلَمُوْنَ
Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire, then, when it lighted all around himمَثَلُهُمْ كَمَثَلِ الَّذِي اسْتَوْقَدَ نَارًا فَلَمَّا أَضَائَتْ مَا حَوْلَهُ
2-17Allah (SWT) took away their light and left them in darkness so they could not seeذَهَبَ اللهُ بِنُوْرِهِمْ وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ لَّا يُبْصِرُوْنَ
2-18Deaf, dumb and blind so they return not (to the straight path)صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْيٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُوْنَ
Who has made the earth a resting place for you and the sky a canopy and sent down water from the skyالَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَرْضَ فِرَاشًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً وَأَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ2-22and brought forth by it fruit as a provision for you, then do not set up rivals to Allah (SWT) while you knowفَأَخْرَجَ بِهِ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ رِزْقًا لَّكُمْ فَلَا تَجْعَلُوْا لِلَّهِ أَنْدَادًا وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ
Verily Allah (SWT) is not averse to set forth a parable of a gnat or what is more than itإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوْضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا
and as for those who believe they know that it is the Truth from their Lordفَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوْا فَيَعْلَمُوْنَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّهِمْ
however as for those who disbelieve they say, “What did Allah (SWT) intend by this parable?”وَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ بِهَاذَا مَثَلً
2-26By it He misleads many and by it He guides many and He does not mislead by it but the rebelliousيُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيْرًا وَيَهْدِي بِهِ كَثِيْرًا وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَاسِقِيْنَ
And when your Lord said to the angels “Verily I am going to place a vicegerent on earth,” وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي جَاعِلٌ فِي الأَرْضِ خَلِيْفَةً
they said “will you place in it one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? while weقَالُوْا أَتَجْعَلُ فِيْهَا مَنْ يُفْسِدُ فِيْهَا وَيَسْفِكُ الْدِّمَآءَ وَنَحْنُ
2-30glorify You with praises and sanctify You” He said “Truly I know that which you do not know”نُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ وَنُقَدِّسُ لَكَ قَالَ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُوْنَ
 لِلْجِنْسِThey said ‘Glory be to You (SWT), we have no knowledge except what You (SWT) have taught usقَالُوْا سُبْحَانَكَ لَا عِلْمَ لَنَا إِلَّا مَا عَلَّمْتَنَا
2-32Truly it is You (SWT), You (SWT) are the All-Knowing, the All-Wiseإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَلِيْمُ الحَكِيْمُ
And We said “O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in Paradise and eat both of you freely with pleasure of things thereinوَقُلْنَا يَا ءَادَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ2-35as you will but do not approach this tree or you both will be of the wrongdoersشِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَاذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُوْنَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ
We said “Get down all of you from it, then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Meقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوْا مِنْهَا جَمِيْعًا فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِنِّي هُدًى 
2-38and who then follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.فَمَنْ تَبِعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ

73-9Lord of the east and the west, there is no God but He so take Him as a trustee-Guardian-Confidantرَبُّ المَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لَآ إِلَاهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَاتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيْلً
74-28not it lets remain and not does it leaveلَا تُبْقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ
and not We made the companions of the fire, except angels and not We made their number but aوَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَآئِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا
trial for those who disbelieve so those who were given the book may be convinced and increaseفِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا لَيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ
those who believe in faith and those who were given the book and the believers do not doubtالَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا إِيْمَانًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ وَالمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
and those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers may say, “What does Allah (SWT) wishوَلِيَقُوْلَ الَّذِيْنَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالكَافِرُوْنَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ اللهُ
by this example?” thus Allah (SWT) leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He willsبِهَذَا مَثَلًا كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللهُ مَنْ يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَآءُ
74-31and he knows not the hosts of your Lord but He and this is not except a reminder to mankindوَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُوْدَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرِ
74-53nay, but not they fear the hereafterكَلَّا بَلْ لَّا يَخَافُوْنَ الأَخِرَةَ
attention75-1Nay! I swear by the day of Resurrectionلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ القِيَامَةِ
75-2and nay! I swear by the self-reproaching soulوَلَآ أَقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ
75-11nay, there is no one to bear the burden (refuge)كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ
75-31as, not did he accept the truth, nor he prayedفَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّى
76-9“Only we feed you seeking Allah (SWT’s) pleasure, not we wish from you a reward nor thanks”إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللهِ لَا نُرِيْدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَآءً وَلَا شُكُوْرًا
76-13reclining in it on couches not will they see in it a sun and not coldمُتَّكِئِيْنَ فِيْهَا عَلَى الأَرَآئِكِ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيْهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيْرًا
77-31“neither shade nor availing from the flame”لَّا ظَلِيْلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ
77-35that is a day of not speakingهَذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُوْنَ
77-36and not will it be permitted for them to make excusesوَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُوْنَ
77-48and when it is said to them, “Bow” they do not bowوَإِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُوْنَ
78-24not they will taste therein coolness nor drinkلَّا يَذُوْقُوْنَ فِيْهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78-27indeed, they were not expecting to accountإِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُوْنَ حِسَابًا
78-35not will they hear therein any vain talk nor falsehoodلَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ فِيْهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا
Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between themرَّبِّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا
78-37the Most-Gracious, not will they have power from Him (to) addressالرَّحْمَانِ لَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْهُ خِتَابًا
the day the spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speakيَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ الرُّوْحُ وَالمَلَآئِكَةُ صَفًّا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُوْنَ
78-38except whom the Most-Merciful permits him and he will say what is correctإِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَانُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
attention81-15so nay, I swear by the retreating starsفَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِالخُنَّسِ
82-19the day, no power shall a soul have over another and the decision that day will be for Allah (SWT)يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا وَالأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ
83-4Do those not think that they will be resurrectedأَلَا يَظُنُّ أَوْلَآئِكُ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوْثُوْنَ
attention84-16So nay, I swear by the twilightفَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ
84-20so, what is with them that they do not believeفَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ
84-21And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrateوَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ القُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُوْنَ
86-10then not for him any power nor any helperفَمَا لَهُ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ
87-6We will cause you to recite so you will not forgetسَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَى
87-13there he will neither die nor liveثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى
88-7which will neither nourish nor avail against hungerلَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ
88-11Not, will they hear in it falsehoodلَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
88-17Do they not look at the camels, how they are created?أَفَلَا يَنْظُرُوْنَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ
89-17Nay, but you do not honor the orphans (treat with kindness and generosity)كَلَّا بَلْ لَّا تُكْرِمُوْنَ اليَنِيْمَ
89-18and urge not one another to feed the needyوَلَا تَحَاضُّوْنَ عَلَى طَعَامِ المِسْكِيْنِ
89-25So, on that day none will punish as He will punishفَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ
89-26and none will bind as He will bindوَلَا يُوْثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ
attention90-1Nay, I swear by this city (Mecca)لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَذَا الْبَلَدِ
90-11but he has not attempted to pass on the path that is steepفَلَا اقْتَهَمَ العَقَبَةَ
91-15and He fears not the consequences thereofوَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَ 
92-15not, will it burn except the most wretchedلَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الأَشْقَى
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ93-9So as for the orphan, do not subjugateفَأَمَّا الْيَتِيْمَ فَلَا تَقْهَرْ
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ93-10And as for the one who asks, do not repelوَأَمَّا السَّائِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ
لَا النَّاهِيَةِ96-19Nay, do not obey him, fall prostrate and draw near to Allah (SWT)كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبْ
100-9Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are poured forthأَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُوْرِ
107-3And does not urge feeding the poorوَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِيْنِ
109-2I do not worship what you worshipلَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ
109-3Neither do you worship what I worshipوَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُوْنَ مَا أَعْبُدُ
109-4And I will not worship what you worshippedوَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدْتُمْ
109-5Neither will you worship what I worshipوَلَا أَنْتُمْ عَابِدُوْنَ مَا أَعْبُدُ
