Surah/Meaningه د ي
VerseThe root ه د ي occurs in the holy Quran approximately 316 times
1-6Guide us to the straight pathاهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيْمَ
2-2That book, wherein there is no doubt, is a guidance for the God-consciousذَالِكَ الْكِتَابُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيْهِ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِيْنَ
2-5They are on guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful onesأُوْلَائِكَ عَلَى هُدًى مَّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ
Those are who purchased error with guidanceأُلَائِكَ الَّذِيْنَ اشْتَرَوُا الضَّلَالَةَ بِالْهُدَى
2-16so their commerce was profitless as they were not guidedفَمَا رَبِحَتْ تِجَارَةُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوْا مُهْتَدِيْنَ
Verily Allah is not averse to set forth a parable of a gnatإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوْضَةً
or what is above it and as for those who believe they know that it is the Truthفَمَا فَوْقَهَا فَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوْا فَيَعْلَمُوْنَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ
from their Lord however as for those who disbelieve they say “What did Allah SWT intendمِنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَأَمَّا الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا فَيَقُوْلُوْنَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللهُ
by this parable?” By it He misleads manyبِهَاذَا مَثَلًا يُضِلُّ بِهِ كَثِيْرًا
2-26and by it He guides many and He does not mislead by it but the rebelliousوَيَهْدِي بِهِ كَثِيْرًا وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِ إِلَّا الْفَاسِقِيْنَ
We said “Get down all of you from it, then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me and who thenقُلْنَا اهْبِطُوْا مِنْهَا جَمِيْعًا فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِنِّي هُدًى فَمَنْ تَبِعَ هُدَايَ
2-38follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieveفَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ

Say, “Obey Allah (SWT) and obey the Messenger but if you turn away then, only upon himقُلْ أَطِيْعُوا اللهَ وَأَطِيْعُوا الرَّسُوْلَ فَإِن تَوَلَّوا فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ
is what is placed on him and on you is what is placed on youمَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ
24-54and if you obey him, you will be guided and not is on the Messenger except to conveying clearly”وَإِن تُطِيْعُوْهُ تَهْتَدُوا وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُوْلِ إِلَّا البَلَاغُ المُبِيْنُ

“It guides to the right so we have believed thereinيَهْدِي إِلَى الرُّشْدِ فَئَامَنَّا بِهِ
72-2and we shall never associate with our Lord anyone”وَلَنْ نُشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَآ أَحَدًا
72-13
and not We made the companions of the fire, except angelsوَمَا جَعَلْنَآ أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَآئِكَةً
and not We made their number, except a trial for those who disbelieveوَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِّلَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا
so that those who were given the book may be convincedلِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ
and those who believe may increase in faithوَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِيْنَ ءَامَنُوا إِيْمَانًا
and those who were given the book and the believers do not doubtوَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ وَالمُؤْمِنُوْنَ
and those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers may say:وَلِيَقُوْلَ الَّذِيْنَ فِيْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالكَافِرُوْنَ
“What does Allah (SWT) intend by this example?”مَاذَآ أَرَادَ اللهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا
thus Allah (SWT) leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He willsكَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللهُ مَنْ يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَآءُ
and he knows not the hosts of your Lord but Heوَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُوْدَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ
74-31and this is not except a reminder to mankindوَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرِ
76-3Indeed, We guided him to the way, whether he be grateful or ungratefulإِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيْلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُوْرًا
79-19“And I will guide you to your Lord, so you may fear”وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى
87-3and Who destined and guidedوَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَى
90-10and shown him the two waysوَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ
92-12Indeed, with Us is the guidanceإِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى
93-7And He found you unaware and guided youوَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًا فَهَدَى
96-11Do you consider that he is on the guidance?أَرَءَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الهُدَى
