Verse | ||
Those who break Allah SWT’s covenant |
after ratifying it and sever what Allah SWT has ordered to be joined | مِنْ بَعْدِ مِيْثَاقِهِ وَيَقْطَعُوْنَ مَا أَمَرَ اللهُ بِهِ أَنْ يُوْصَلَ
2-27 | and do mischief on earth. Them, they are the losers |
And when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (Sinai) |
“Take that which We have given you with conviction | خُذُوْا مَآ ءَاتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ
2-63 | and remember/mention that which is therein so that you may become pious” |
And when We took the covenant of the Children of Israel |
Worship none but Allah (SWT) and be excellent to parents and to kindred |
and to orphans and to the needy and speak excellently to the people | وَاليَتَامَى وَالمَسَاكِيْنِ وَقُوْلُوْا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًا
and establish the prayer and give the obligatory tax | وَأَقِيْمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَءَاتُوْا الزَّكَاةَ
2-83 | Then you turned away except a few among you and you were refusing |
And when We took your covenant |
“Shed not the blood of your people nor turn out your own people | لَا تَسْفِكُوْنَ دِمَآءَكُمْ وَلَا تُخْرِجُوْنَ أَنْفُسَكُمْ
from their dwellings” | مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ
2-84 | then you acknowledged and you bore witness |
And when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount |
“Take what We have given you with firmness and listen” |
They said “We heard, and we disobeyed” |
and their hearts inclined to the calf due to their disbelieve | وَأُشْرِبُوْا فِي قُلُوْبِهِمُ العِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ
Say “Evil is that which your faith enjoins upon you | قُلْ بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ بِهِ إِيْمَانُكُمْ
2-93 | if you should actually be believers |
There is no compulsion in the religion |
surely, the right has become distinct from the wrong | قَدْ تَبَيَّنَ الرُّشْدُ مِنَ الغَيِّ
then whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah (SWT) | فَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِالطَّاغُوْتِ وَيُؤْمِن بِاللهِ
then surely, he grasped the most trustworthy handhold | فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالعُرْوَةِ الوُثْقَى
2-256 | no break in it and Allah (SWT) is All-Hearing, All-Knowing |
and when Allah (SWT) took the covenant of the prophets | وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللهُ مِيْثَاقَ النَّبِيِّيْنَ
“Indeed, what I have given you from the book and wisdom | لَمَآ ءَاتَيْتُكُمْ مِّنْ كِتَابٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ
then a messenger came to you confirming what was with you | ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُوْلٌ مُّصَدِّقٌ لِّمَا مَعَكُمْ
Indeed, you must certainly believe in him and certainly you must help him | لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهِ وَلَتَنْصُرُنَّهُ
He said, “Do you affirm, and you take on that, my covenant?” |
they said: “We affirm” | قَالُوا أَقْرَرْنَا
3-81 | He said: “Then bear witness that I am with you among the ones who witness” |
and when Allah (SWT) took the covenant of those who were given the book | وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللهُ مِيْثَاقَ الَّذِيْنَ أُوْتُوا الكِتَابَ
you certainly make it clear to the people and not conceal it | لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُوْنَهُ
then they threw it behind their backs, and they purchased with it a small price | فَنَبَذُوْهُ وَرَآءَ ظُهُوْرِهِمْ وَاشْتَرَوا بِهِ ثَمَنًا قَلِيْلًا
3-187 | and wretched is what they purchase |
