أَخْلَدَ

 

A word in the Arabic language will either be: 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – أَخْلَدَ is a verb

A verb will either be: 1) past tense or 2) present or future tense or 3) a command or request verb, also called an imperative – أَخْلَدَ is a past tense verb

He clung, remained inclined, will make abide, to lean towards, stick faithfully to a friend

To remain, last long, live on, retain a youthful appearance, abide in a place, live without change or deterioration

Surah/Below are the 2 verses in the holy Quran containing the derived, form 4, perfect verbأَخْلَدَ
Verse
and if We wished We certainly could have raised him with these, but he adhered to the earthوَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَاكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ
and he followed his desires so, his example is like the example of the dogوَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الكَلْبِ
if you burden it, he lolls out his tongue or if you leave it, he lolls out his tongueإِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ
7-176that is the example of the people who denied Our signs so narrate the story so that they may ponder (reflect)ذّلِكَ مَثَلُ القَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوا بِئَايَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ القَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَقَّرُوْنَ
104-3he thinks that his wealth will make him invincibleيَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
