رَفَعْنَا
A word in the Arabic language will either be: 1) a verb or 2) a noun or 3) a particle – رَفَعْنَا is a verb

To raise up, lift, exalt, hoist, extol, take away, trace back (a tradition), honour, show regard to, advance speedily, come to an upland, arraign anyone before or introduce to (a ruler), elevate, raise in dignity, see a thing from afar, refine.

| And when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount (Sinai) | وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ الطُّوْرَ | |
| “Take that which We have given you with conviction and remember (mention) that which is therein | خُذُوْا مَآ ءَاتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ وَاذْكُرُوْا مَا فِيْهِ | |
| 2-63 | so that you may become pious” | لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُوْنَ |
| And when We took your covenant and We raised above you the Mount | وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيْثَاقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَكُمُ الطُّوْرَ | |

| and their hearts inclined to the calf due to their disbelieve | وَأُشْرِبُوْا فِي قُلُوْبِهِمُ العِجْلَ بِكُفْرِهِمْ | |
| 2-93 | Say “Evil is that which your faith enjoins upon you if you should actually be believers | قُلْ بِئْسَمَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ بِهِ إِيْمَانُكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُّؤْمِنِيْنَ |
| and We raised above (over) them the mount for their covenant | وَرَفَعْنَا فَوْقَهُمُ الطُّوْرَ بِمِيْثَاقِهِمْ | |
| and We said to them, “Enter the door (in humility) prostrating” | وَقُلْنَا لَهُمُ ادْخُلُوا البَابَ سُجَّدًا | |
| 4-154 | and We said to them, “Do not transgress in the sabbath (Saturday)” and We took from them an earnest covenant | وَقُلْنَا لَهُمْ لَا تَعْدُوا فِيْ السَّبْتِ وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِّيْثَاقًا غَلِيْظًا |
| and if We wished We certainly could have raised him with these, but he adhered to the earth | وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَاكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الأَرْضِ | |
| and he followed his desires so, his example is like the example of the dog | وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الكَلْبِ | |
| if you burden it, he lolls out his tongue or if you leave it, he lolls out his tongue | إِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ | |
| 7-176 | that is the example of the people who denied Our signs so narrate the story so that they may ponder (reflect) | ذّلِكَ مَثَلُ القَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوا بِئَايَاتِنَا فَاقْصُصِ القَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَقَّرُوْنَ |
